There are many people selling HOHO tours in Quebec-- I don't think there are many actual tours. I could be wrong but I only think there is one real company.

That being said, Quebec is an incredibly walkable city that isn't that large. That being said if the newer town further back from the river and the Plains of Abraham interest you the bus isn't a terrible way to do it.

    TY

In 2021 I took a Road Scholar tour of Quebec City. We stayed in a very nice hotel one block from the wall of the old city, Palace Royale. I would stay there again if I were to return.

Enjoy your time in Quebec City. I look forward to going back for one day when my ship, Volendam, docks on our way to Montreal.

We are staying there in Sept., It looks like a beautiful hotel. Do you know if there is a hop on hop off bus near the hotel? Also how is the walk to the old city, is there a lot to on our way?

You’ve asked a non-NCL-related general question that is more appropriate for posting in the Canada/NE ports of call forum.

    Great itinerary; enjoy your cruise!

I tried there first and found nothing on hop-on hop-off bus tours. I thought perhaps someone may have taken a couple of these. I see no difference in people asking about hotels on here. I will keep checking.

Yeah.....could do any of those things.  I'm not a game show guy myself.  But, I know I'm in the minority.  People love game shows.  I see some old YouTube vids from the 1960s showing some of the same game shows that are on TV today.  People like them.

Personally, I would rather have nothing but YES and Pink Floyd cover bands in all the theaters.  But again, I'd be in the minority.

    Pink Floyd would be Awesome.

Personally, I’m easily entertained since I can’t sing, dance, or do acrobatics. I’m not funny, but know how to laugh.  Therefore, provide me with nightly options, every night, that include a variety of quality performers.  Don’t make me wait 2 hours for a SRO venue, and don’t make me pay extra to enjoy the show.  And. Most importantly..,don’t drop the entertainment options I thought we were getting right after you take the final payment.

    NAILED IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

No hotel shuttles but I can recommend Auberge Place d' Armes. We stayed there pre-cruise and took a taxi. Great hotel and perfect location. Also check Royal Palace Hotel also good location but again you'll need a taxi.

Yes, the Royal Palace Hotel looks nice. Have you stayed there? If you have, is there anything  around the hotel to see as we will be getting in, late afternoon.

You can also just ask them not to open the wine, and take it away with you.

Many of us do that, as we have as much wine as we want with meals anyway, but a bottle in your cabin can be very handy for a lazy afternoon on your balcony.

I just want to make sure I understand this correctly. I am getting 2 free dinners with my club balcony suite, plus another 2 for being a Platinum member. If this is true, when I book my 2 free dinners because of the free at sea, will there be a charge on my account for the 2 Platinum dinners when I book 125 days out? I guess my question is, will NCL know that my 3rd and 4th dinners are also free?

No.  the parliament building is on the SE side I believe, although that is a great view as well, some may prefer that.  The parliament building is very close to the Hilton and you see the building from above with the corresponding park and fountains.   The old town is on the NE side of Hilton and you don't see any buildings as close as the parliament, but you see the wall and then all the roofs in the old town, the Fairmont Le Château Frontenac and of course the cruise ships.     We requested nothing and were upgraded to a corner room which has floor to ceiling windows on both NE and SE walls so we saw both.

You can't go wrong with either, probably choose old town (NE) or corner over parliament if you get the choice, but both are very nice.

TY! We are looking forward to it.

Yes, you could easily get a cab, however the Hilton is only a block away from old town.   The front door is on the opposite side of the hotel, so more like a 2 block walk to get to hotel entrance.

If you are a Hilton Honors member request a room with a view of the old town, the higher the better.   Plus the executive lounge on the top floor has outstanding views.

Thank You, and I will!!! I am thinking the Parliament View would be the view of the old town?

We stayed at the Hilton and loved it.   5 min. walk to a wall gate, and then you are in the old town and can walk anywhere including piers 21 and 22 (I don't think you can walk to pier 30 from any hotels - not far but just not a good walk from what I could tell.)

With luggage you may want to taxi no matter where you stay as QC is very hilly (but beautiful).

The Hilton is a high rise with spectacular views of the old town.  You need to get a room on that side of the hotel (we had a corner room .. even better)    Plus it is one of the best Hiltons we have stayed at.

We will be staying at the Hilton. After a day of walking around the the old town, is it easy to grab a cab, just in case I do not feel like walking back to the hotel?

Did they switch them up? I either didn't notice, or we booked after the change was made.

yes we went from a sea day to the Royal Navel Dockyard then another sea day. Now we have 2 sea days at the begining, then Puerto Plata DR and the Dockyard is at the end of the cruise. Every port is on a different day and time, except St. Thomas. None of the excursion times match up with the Docking time. I hope I get the excursion's I booked!

We are on the same sailing!

This is a fairly common question, because there is not a 100% answer. Normally, NCL docks at Taino Bay (this was true for our last two visits to Puerto Plata.) However, NCL ships occasionally dock at Amber Cove. This doesn't matter for shore excursions, since the excursion companies track where the ships will be docking and flex as required. But it would matter if you really wanted to check out the amenities at Taino Bay. It is pretty new, and nice.

    See you on board!

Well if we are on the same sailing, then you know they switched the the ports all around. Right now my excursion looks like it has been taken away. All the other ports show excursion booked 1, but Puerto Plata is now showing booked 0.

Everything was free when we were there but had a tip jar out. We went in Feb last year and the pool and lazy river were freezing so we didn’t go in either.

NCL has changed our cruise around, which means our excursion times do not match the times we arrive in Puerto Plata DR. I am trying to find out what cruise terminal you docked at, so I can make plans from there. Was the town within walking distance?

Boarded on November 26 out of NYC. Am in the Haven and the process took about 25 minutes. Cabin is way aft and a long walk to the Haven. Great exercise. Over 12000 steps the first day. The Haven restaurant the first night was very busy with a half hour wait to get seated. Last night, the second night, it was not that crowded. The only negative was the prime rib was very fatty. Do not know if the  general quality was like that or I just got a fatty slice. I will keep a watchful eye going forward. We are in Bermuda today and are docking. Somewhat cloudy, but hopefully the sun will come out.

Being sold out, does the Getaway seem crowed? I did not know with all the Solo Suites it has, maybe that would make a difference and not seem as crowded.

Did an 11 night on Getaway out of Southampton October 1. Ship was at capacity . The only place that had lines was the buffet.

Specialty restaurants showed as being full prior to boarding but there were plenty of available tables once on board. The mojito bar and Maltings whiskey bar got to be 2-3 people deep and you had to be slightly pushy at times but nothing to write home about.

No comedy shows in the small venue on our itinerary.

Theater was close to full but no one was turned away.

We saw a magician, a comedian, Burn the Floor, Million Dollar Quartet, Syd Norman's several times, the dueling pianos. There were many entertainment offerings of which we did not partake. Casino had a great vibe but the smoke became overwhelming at times.

Service was terrific all around; the only meal that wasn't really good was at the Brazilian steak house. The waitress noted that I didn't like the overcooked filet and hopped over to Cagneys and brought me one of their lovely steaks. That was sweet!

It was a great cruise with no issues except for our cabin location ; it was very noisy .

Live and learn! Club balcony, deck eight 3/4 of the way forward. No noise from the theater . Lots of noise from crew from behind that mystery wall across the hall. Metal on metal and glass breaking sounds all day and night. Got used to it .

Our 5th time on Getaway and I would go aboard in a heartbeat

We were already conditioned to the diminished cabin  service from prior NCL cruises this year. No biggie!

    Have a super time!

When lining up for BTF and Choir of Men which side is for the show and which side is the stand by line? I am booked for the second night, so I like to get up front for the stand by line.
