Oh my goodness.  I had no idea the old road had gone!  I remember having a “mind blown” moment when they suddenly appeared right in front of me.  It boggled my mind that they were immediately next to “civilisation” (the road).  In my head, I had placed them in the midst of nowhere.  That is one moment I will never forget.

Yes going towards Amesbury / London they are now on your left when it used to be right. The first time  I went past having not done so for many years I was so disoriented.

Speaking of Cunard branded merchandise and since I'll be aboard the QM2 on November 20th of this year, are they selling any posters aboard the Cunard Ships with the Queen Anne on them? I have two posters that I bought aboard the QM2, one has a picture of the QM2 in the middle with the current Queen Elizabeth on one side with the Queen Victoria on the other side. The other poster is titled Cunard Queens that has all the 3 current & 3 previous Cunard Queens on it. Are they selling any posters with the Queen Anne added to what would now be the 4 current Cunard Queens and 3 previous Cunard Queens poster or the Queen Anne added to the poster that has the QM2, QV and QE on it?

Didn’t see any posters. In fact have never seen any posters.  They didn’t even have proper postcards at the Pursers Desk yet. Not a moan  just an observation. I buy one from the shop but they must have sold out as I couldn’t buy a 2nd one.

They really need to cut the water and dry cleaning for all those white gloves. It's Cunard for pitysake the white gloves are the selling point the tradition. The old timers expect it even the new timers expect it.

White gloves make no difference to me whatsoever. Certainly don’t make or break a cruise. I never even noticed they were not being worn.

Not in my view. Why should it be good to take something away? There are so many venues where they used to and still could offer a wide variety of music and entertainment. No need to mess up the Queens room.

In the past one could trust in the Queens room orchestra playing dance music every night, now maybe sometimes, who knows. Several evenings none at all. A Cunard trade mark deleted.

As some who has no interest in ballroom dancing I am only too pleased to see the Queens Room being used for other activities  day and evening which I can enjoy and I am sure I am not alone in this view.

I had hoped the dining would have been sorted out as a matter of highest priority by the managers.  Clearly it is not, and we are now cancelling all our existing bookings on Queen Anne - when I go on a cruise I certainly don't want this kind of hassle every evening. It would totally ruin my holiday.

I was on the 14 night Med cruise July and August. No issues with dining in Britannia whatsoever. Fixed 2nd sitting table for one.  Hot food served by pleasant efficient waiters. Only one night longer wait but I had ordered 2 courses off menu. Had to say much better than QM2 in May. I would sail again in a heart beat. Only reason not booked anything until December 2026  is I have  4 QV and 3 QM2 jollies first. Certainly hassle free.

If you add your own cash into OBC - as opposed to OBC from the package deal, shareholding and/or veteran status - then that cash OBC should be refundable at the end of the sailing. However there have been reports here where Cunard used the cash OBC up first, and then the package (etc) OBC - and that's caused problems since from Cunard's perspective it's only "their" OBC that is left and "their" OBC is not refundable.

Hence my suggestion above to be cautious on the payment timing.

I have heard too of that happening too so I would keep back any cash and just use to settle outstanding balance on the last night in cash. Lots of folk seem to do that.

It is a steep increase in pricing (around USD1500 per room on a 7 day sailing) for what is actually added.  I guess it depends on how much you value the same table, same waitstaff, all meals but I really can't see that I'd ever go for it and would prefer to just select a Britannia balcony room in a location I liked.

I can never justify the additional expense. I can buy sparking water if I want it and not fussed about a coffee machine. The locations wouldn’t suit me I like mid and low. I get priority boarding from loyalty. Don’t eat breakfast or lunch in dining room so not needing a fixed table just for the evening which I get in Britannia anyway.

I know the 303 past Stonehenge is a traffic nightmare, and, it appears, likely to remain so. Nonetheless, the sight of the stones as one approaches is mind-blowing. I have never forgotten the first time I saw them. Less fun if it is your every day journey.

Yes they have moved the road since I was a child. You can still the remains of the old road the other side of them when you drive past. Now they are not building the tunnel the six months disruption because the direct road to Salisbury was closed to build the infra structure needed seems even more annoying and frustrating.

Customs is very unlikely to hold you up, immigration might, as you are arriving at such a busy time. I think the order is Avebury, Stonehenge, Salisbury, Southampton.

That’s good as you will approaching Stonehenge from the other direction. Coming from London the traffic around Stonehenge is very slow/ standstill at times. 2 reasons. Just before the traffic merges into one lane from 2 and  secondly lots of people really slow down as they drive past the stones. Took me an additional 20 mins of queuing to get past last Saturday. It’s good too they have now reopened the direct Road from Stonehenge to Salisbury which up until recently had been closed for the past 6 months requiring a lengthy diversion. Have a brilliant time. Salisbury will be your best place for lunch. If you are visiting Cathedral you can eat there.

Got my tickets from English Heritage for my sightseeing places! As I am a member tickets are free. My planned itinerary is Stonehenge, Avebury, Salisbury then in Southampton Solent Sky. As I have to be at The Grapes in the evening to meet friends I will need to watch the time.

Are you that all in one day ? How are you getting between places ?

    Does it?

    I didn't know that. Interesting.

We buy per 24 hrs using each allowance judicially, starting on the first sea day but spread it out e.g. buy at 8am one day but wait 'til lunch time for the next purchase, wait 'til late afternoon the next and 8am for the next purchase 2 days later and swapping to the other allowance when appropriate.

Daft really as what's an extra $24/$48 on top of the whole cruise fare but it becomes a game!! 😄

Not sure if I was clear the 18$ charge is the same every day but the whole voyage cost decreases by the day at the rate of 18$. I need the internet as my adult children like  to touch base with me everyday day so I just factor the internet cost  after World Club allowance the same as gratuities into the fare cost. Like you say  a drop in the ocean but I always look to save 18$ and buy the 2nd day🚢😂

  13. No.  You would have to spend one 45$ worth on 2 days @ 24 $ a day on one card and the swop to use the up the other 45$ . You can’t use two devices at the same time unless you pay extra but it’s very easy to swop between the 2. The allowance is per card/ guest and not combinable. The whole voyage price is 18$ a day and reduces everyday as the voyage goes on so if you wait until the last 3 days to use 2nd allowance you will nearly get an extra day.

  14. On QA recently the steward always locked the balcony with the key and closed the curtains at turn down. We had very calm seas so I suppose it was just a security thing. Usually unlocked it when I opened the curtains when I returned after my meal or the show. Can’t remember what happened other times. On QM2 always have sheltered balcony.

Thanks all for the replies. I finally managed to clarify her current travel insurance and it actually does not cover repatriation from cruise ship to main land... (which is pretty much the main reason for the cruise specific insurance). Only annoying thing is that the only UK cruise insurance for non UK residents I can find is around EUR100. I guess considering the overall price of the cruise, it is not that much..

it would be considerably more if you had to pay the costs yourself.
