  1. Nothing free. About half way through you’ll get a discounted bag of laundry (as much as you can fit in the bag). The bags in the Haven are larger and a nylon like material, so they don’t rip. The non Haven rooms get a smaller paper laundry bag. In July, the discount was about $35 for a bag.
  2. I believe that they ask people not to disclose the terms of any settlement. This is probably to prevent future people from demanding the same amounts so they can offer less if someone will accept less.
  3. The butler will refill your ice for you several times a day, bring afternoon snacks, bring your room service and be you go to person for special requests. For example, we needed extra hangers for the closet. Many will greet you on the first day and ask what you need and/or like. We don’t like the little sandwiches they bring because they get soggy, but we like fruit. We never received sandwiches and we got extra fruit. He noticed how much our daughter liked the cookies and the next day brought extra. We’ve stayed in the Haven a couple of times and a non-Haven suite once. We got the letter for the deluxe owner’s suite asking for our preferences, but not for the 2 bedroom suite. We got luggage tags before the 2 BR but not the DOS. I think the letters in the mail are a little hit or miss. Our daughter is a teen and stayed in the room while we went to specialty dining, she didn’t want to go. She ordered room service and the butler was always happy to bring her whatever she ordered, either from the Haven restaurant, O’Sheehans, or the regular room service menu. The butler can also bring food from specialty restaurants, but give them plenty of notice because it’s further for them to go and if they are getting lots of room service requests at mealtimes it can get busy for them. Also, don’t expect the food to stay hot because of the distance. Our last butler was new and was very enthusiastic. The one before that was experienced and friendly, but didn’t go the extra mile. The butler we had in the non-Haven suite was absent until the last day when looking for his tip. There are a wide range of butler styles. Be prepared for any of them. You may have to nudge some more than others.
  4. I realize it is not salmon, but the steelhead trout on the Haven dinner menu is very similar to salmon. If your husband likes salmon, he may also like the trout dish if they can't accommodate the special request for you
  5. The poster above referencing Oceanfront and Lagoon, was referring to the villas, not the cabanas. The cabanas are outside of the Silver Cove area. They are shaded and have loungers, but are open air cabanas on the public beach. A little bit up the beach, the Silver Cove area has “villas”. The villas are enclosed, have air conditioning, refrigerators, TVs and full bathrooms. Silver Cove villas have reserved beach chairs and umbrellas and the private beach is not at all crowded. There is a buffet for Silver Cove, but it wasn’t that good. When we first looked at booking either the cabanas or villas it was not obvious to us that the cabanas were not in the private Silver Cove area. I just wanted to mention in case anyone else was confused about the cabana location
  6. I disembarked the Breakaway, also in the Haven, this morning. Your new best friends will be the bar waiter Luigi, and the very wonderful bartender Reymond. Let Reymond know he should make you a beautiful drink with glitter
  7. Currently in the Haven on the Breakaway. Our original itinerary had us close to Hurricane Beryl. The captain announced the itinerary change before leaving Miami yesterday. We are grateful for being kept updated and safe and still are able to have a wonderful cruise
  8. Sometimes (even in recent memory) NCL raises the prices on some of these extras. If you pay it way ahead of time you lock in the current prices. If you decide you don't want it they will refund to your credit card ahead of boarding. If you wait and they raise the price, then you pay the higher price. Last year NCL warned me they were raising the DSC and if I prepaid, I got the price at the time of booking. If I waited to pay onboard, I got the new higher fee. A possible reason why someone might want to pay ahead of time....
  9. https://www.ncl.com/why-cruise-norwegian/family-cruises/youth-programs/faq Here is a link to the FAQs for the different kids clubs on NCL. We have used Splash academy in the past and it was very good. Our child is now old enough for the Teen room, so she can check herself in and out. We were on the Escape over Christmas and there were times she couldn't go into Entourage because it was at capacity. All kids clubs are first come first served, and possible they could be full and not available to everyone.
  10. Kids 12 and under are not allowed to check themselves in or out from the Splash Academy. The lines are longer on cruises during spring break, holiday breaks, etc... because there are more kids. I can't predict how long (time wise) the lines will be on any future cruise, but would expect them to be longer than in the past due to less staffing.
  11. In December, sailing on the Escape from Port Canaveral, the porter saw our tags (they were maroon) and asked if we were in the Haven. After confirming we were, he walked us over to a table where a lady checked us on a Haven guest list, gave us blue stickers to wear and told us where to go for priority security. Our bags went on the rack by the lady's table. All of the bags on that rack had the maroon tags. This was at around noon. We boarded very shortly after that and had our bags by 3pm. I'm pretty sure it was earlier than most others. Not saying this is the norm, just our experience in December.
  12. I haven’t been in about 10 years, but I am going to assume it’s still there. Find a hole in the wall called Mother’s and have a giant stack of delicious pancakes for breakfast. Or, go later in the day and have one of the best po Boys of your life.
  13. I've stayed in the Haven, but have never had the butler bring food from a specialty restaurant to our room, only from the Haven restaurant. On an upcoming cruise we have 4 SDP for each of us because of upgrading to FAS+ As an example to explain my question and situation, on our last cruise we had dinner in Le Bistro and it ended up nice, but only because we had to request to be moved to a different table. They seated us at a small 2 person table that was crowded between 2 other 2 person tables. A lady at the next table was talking very loudly and coughing every where without covering her mouth. I get this is beyond NCL's control and they were very nice about accommodating us once we went to the Maitre D with our concerns. However, my husband and I are very uncomfortable when we are in such crowded places, hence we go in the Haven where it is less crowded and usually quieter. We have eaten in other specialties and feel they were the same, crowded and loud. I know many people will say they don't want the specialty dining in their room because it takes away from the experience, etc.... but we are more comfortable where it is not so loud and crowded. The privacy gives us a better experience. I don't want or intend for this question to turn into a negative commentary on the current state of cruising or manners. I only wrote the above statements to explain why we, personally, don't like eating in the specialty restaurants. I am looking for information from people that have had room service from specialties in the Haven. Was it easy to get your butler to do it and how did it work with getting the dining plan credits applied to it. Thanks in advance
  14. The food is okay. There is a lot of food! It’s not bad for a free meal, but not worth full price if you have to pay. I’ve eaten there on 2 different ships, mostly because my daughter wanted to. They put on a good show but don’t expect an onion volcano because of open flame restrictions. It is extremely loud. We found it to be very slow to get drinks and impossible to talk to each other because of the noise. Whether it’s recommended depends on if you like the noise and a show and if you don’t mind a lot of “okay” food
  15. My family was in the Haven on the Escape in December. It was fantastic. As others have said, the menu for the Haven restaurant does not change and there is no extra charge for Haven passengers. Some people have gotten special permission to have other passengers join them for a meal in the Haven and the other passengers are charged for the meal. Even though the menus don’t change, you can make special requests and it helps if they are done in advance. We had one particularly outstanding waiter on the Escape, named Christian, that was outstanding in trying to make every meal fabulous. He noticed when there was something we really enjoyed and made suggestions that he thought would make it even better. He set aside items from the lunch menu for us to have at dinner when we asked and always brought my husband a plate of sliced pineapple after seeing DH take just pineapple from the breakfast buffet the second morning. The best dessert, IMO, in the Haven is the chocolate brownie with macadamia ice cream. You can request these be set aside for you for dinner as long as you ask at lunch time. You can do this with any meal if you make the request ahead of time. I’ve seen on these boards people that ask for all kinds of things and the staff will accommodate when they are able. Be prepared, that some requests might be denied, but not because they don’t want to make you happy, just because it may be out of their control. Also, whenever possible have Kay at the Haven bar make your drinks. She’s awesome!
