    Anthem is in UK at the moment until Autumn.  There's not so many UK folk on this site and not many do a live review. There is quite an active thread,  but it's mainly talking about getting pcr tests prior to the cruise and current cruise protocols

    The thread is called Anthem UK cruises in the Summer

    I'm booked on Anthem OTS on Jan 20, 2022 out of Bayonne (Cape Liberty), NJ. 11-day S. Caribbean cruise.

  2. While I was out on the breakwall to get a few good shots of Freedom of the Seas departing, look who else was out there;

    I covertly was able to snap this close up pic of her/him. If she/he saw me snap a pic of her/him, she/he would've snatched my camera phone out of my hand and snapped it over her/his muscular, tanned knee. Then, she would've proceeded to kick my a _ _.

  3. The pilot boat has been "lurking" about. May be a sign that a pilot has boarded Freedom of the Seas to take her to sea. If FOS leaves the dock soon, she will pass right in front of me (like Celebrity Edge did a week ago). I should be able to get a couple of good shots of her passing by;

    update: speak of the devil. FOS is moving off the dock.

    I have been to both several times. They are just "different" to me.  Oddly, I always thought GSC was greater than Coco Cay (Little Stirrup Cay).  But then Royal Caribbean has really stepped up it's game.  Just adding a dock is a HUGE improvement, let alone everything else.  That said, I still miss/yearn for the older days of the rugged beach paradise.  I enjoyed Coco Cay back in the day.  I also like it now, just different.  So it's nice to have Great Stirrup Cay as an alternative once in awhile.

    For a more "natural" (and small) private island, check out MSC's (I can't remember the name of it off hand).

    I finally got caught up.  Thank you to all the  contributors!  I just booked Adventure out of Galveston for January and I CAN'T WAIT!  6 months will be a long wait, but it seems short compared to how long it's been for a cruise!

    Question for those of you who sailed Adventure recently...it sounds like for internet, it's best to just purchase the regular zoom and not the streaming?  We will be in the Panoramic Room on the top and very front.  I'm assuming the streaming will be just a waste of money?

    And Morgan-regarding Global Entry, with all of your cruises upcoming, I'd definitely apply for it once you get home.  We applied Pre-Covid in June 2019, hoping to use for a trip in December 2019.  We did not even get our conditional approval in order to schedule an appointment until July 2020.  And then couldn't get an appointment until February 2021.  That said, once we had the formal interview, we had our GE number and cards in hand within a week.  Granted, we didn't have anywhere to use it in 2020 or so far in 2021, so maybe it's good the 5 year clock didn't start until earlier this year.

    Now, I'm crossing my fingers I can get my passport renewed by our cruise late January.  It just expired last week.  Yikes!

    I'd purchase the Voom package. I think RCI offers a combined package; Voom + Specialty Dining Package.

    Thanks for the advice wrt Global Entry. You're right, I have many cruises booked, even into 2023, so it will pay off.

    I thought I had heard that RCI was going to homeport Adventure of the Seas in Galveston. You just confirmed it. Thanks!

    Awesome. I’ll try it next year during our B2B with NCL. It will be interesting to compare Coco Cay to Stirrup Cay. I’m doubtful that anything can beat Coco Cay though.

    I have never been to NCL's Stirrup Cay but I can already tell you, RCI's Pefect Day at Coco Cay blows it away. Half the time,, NCL has to cancel the stop at Stirrup Cay because of sea/weather conditions. Unlike RCI, NCL doesn't have a dock on Stirrup Cay and has to tender passengers ashore.

    There is a cruise ship in port. At first glance, it looks like a RCI Quantum-class because of the light blue hull. But, I can not see a North Star and can not see the ship's name painted in BIG letters on the hull (up near the bow). So, I went to "Marine Traffic". Turns out, it's the Freedom of the Seas. I thought only RCI's Quantum-class ships had the light blue hulls. Is RCI painting the hulls of all their ships in the fleet light blue also?;

  8. O.k., beach time! I crossed the street and hit my "go-to" beach bar, the "Tiki Bikini";

    Food menu for the Tiki Bikini. I just realized that I have yet to have conch in the Bahamas! How could I? This shall be rectified because the Tiki Bikini has conch!;

    So does that mean Monday or later for a Saturday sailing based on the current 5 day guidelines (I know they are changing on August 1)?

    Yes, Monday will be o.k. Make sure it is a pcr test (not a rapid antigen). But, don't fret too much about it. Even if you don't have it (or it gets rejected, like mine), the med team (on behalf of RCI) just sends you in to a near by room and administers a rapid antigen test. You get your result back via e-mail in about 15 minutes.

    Oh yes, I did read that post and enjoyed the photo that went along with it!!  😂 I read every post in this thread, some more than once! I've never followed a live thread before, may be spoiled from now on - so engaging, and generous of you all to post so many pictures, answer so many questions. It was awesome!

    Thanks so much for your kind words which may inspire me to do a LIVE thread for my Oct 2nd Celebrity Edge cruise! Stay tuned...

  11. @CptAleSpillwould be proud of me. While trying to brew coffee in my room using this VERY uncooperative coffee maker, I had not one but two coffee spills. I think I will change my CC screen name to; CptCoffeSpill.

    Looking down at the tile floor in my room. If you look closely, you can see the coffee stain;

    Since I can't have coffee in my room (no way am I going to try that coffee maker again), I went to my "go-to" - a green Monster;

    My parents met at Hope College and moved back to NJ, where my mom grew up. That's my stomping grounds, but moved to CT due to my husband's and my work. Yes to the wooden shoes - my kids have them as well, although not the formal water variety 🙂

    Yeah,I don't know if you read my entries on this thread earlier about losing my shoes at ship security and having to wear my water shoes (I even posted a pic) to dinner on formal night. That's why I joked that they were my "formal" water shoes, lol.

    A note on Global Entry — currently at least in LA — you can’t get an appointment for months.  When I tried, back in early June, the next appointments were for early November.  And that’s before you even start the processing time.  So this late in the game, for AOS out of Bahamas, you’re unlikely to get Global Entry.  Sounds like VeriFLY is super helpful though.  I set mine up already, just need to add trips and test results when we are close to travel time.

    Thanks. Sounds like I'll be able to use VeriFLY but not Global for my return flight (Delta) back to the U.S. (Grand Rapids, MI)?

    Thanks but credit goes to you and others who posted. The group “LIVE” was started because I knew I’d be busy with the fam. It’s been great to see everyone’s experience with the AOS. I think we all had a great time, felt safe the entire time, loved the staff, food and drinks, and agree that we experienced cruise history with having only 1100 on board. 😎

    I agree 100% (which the passenger capacity was NOT at). I think you really helped everyone following and posting to this thread by having the word "LIVE" capitalized in the subject line. I just always looked for "LIVE" when I wanted to quickly find the thread.
