Hopefully the cruise lines will follow soon. I can travel on a plane and stay in a hotel without a test I can not see why I can’t go on a cruise without one. All a test tells me is that at that moment up to 3 days before boarding I didn’t have covid. I could see the value when the testing was done on boarding but not up to 3 days before.

Blimey, 2 years on and you're still rolling out this argument? It is/was all about reducing the risk. Of course it was never going to eradicate the chance of contracting covid completely.

I tried one with another booking after recently leaving my TA of many years, and wasn't impressed.

My new TA is someone I've known since grade school.

My folks always told me to never do business with friends, so I'm limiting her risk of possibly screwing-up by doing all of the work myself and getting things exactly how I want before turning over the booking to her.

Whats the purpose of this TA?

The shares must be in your name (not just part of any fund) on the brokerage account monthly statement.

Print the statement page that list CCL add your booking # sailing date and mail it .

As mentioned, i've never seen a monthly statement. They are in my name and I manage via an app. A previous poster has indicated that a screen shot is sufficient so I will try that.

    Not that difficult......

Your broker would normally provide a paper or pdf file monthly of your account.

You need to make a copy of the statement (physical or digital) and blank out the account number and any other info not required and paste that into your email with the cruise confirmation number.

Based on your computer skills, you may want to just print out the page, mark out the sensitive data, take a digital photo of the redacted page and attach or paste it into you email.

    That is it.

Ive had shares for over a year and never recieved such a document

  5. I can't find the answer to this - i have sufficient shares in Carnival to apply for the shareholder OBC. My shares are held by Hargreaves Lansdown and I manage my investments through the app. What do I need to provide to Cunard to get the OBC? I cant find any option to obtain a certificate or letter or something official looking.

Oh and BTW this is the same butler that came in the last morning to "REMIND" me that i need to tip him directly.  Unbelivable, i opened the envelope i had already prepared for him and took half the tip back out.

VERY believable.   Ours visited us THREE times before 2pm on the penultimate day with a request "I hope you have been very satisfied with the service I have provided?".

Yours was lucky with half the tip, ours got nothing other than a recommendation to the Concierge and Hotel Director that they look into the butler!!

He was not re-employed!!!   They had wanted a written complaint as he was not acceptable to either.

Great, hope you feel good about that outcome

OK i'm from the UK and i'd say try out the Sky and see how you feel about the experience.

If you like it, Purchase a future cruise deposit (FCD - £75 for brits). once confirmed to your captains circle account Book your 2024 cruise. You can either book direct with Princess or  with your preferred Travel agent and get them to allocate the FCD to the booking. As a thank you you will get a on board credit to use when you sail on the cruise. The amount depends on the level of cabin you book and the length of the cruise. ie i have a mini suite booked on the enchanted and it's a 14 night cruise and for that the credit amount is $100.  It's part paid for a trip i have booked......

So i'd say don't book on board but def pay for a FCD as the credit you get on the cruise you use it against is a good benefit. Enjoy the sky we enjoyed it when we were on her last October. Jules

Thank you, but what is FCD and why buy it?

But do you feel that 20 - 30 minutes is acceptable? That’s a very long time to wait for a company you are spending thousands of pounds with.

My local service providers answer within just a few rings and I don’t spend nearly as much money with them.

No not really but it is better than my energy provider whom i also spend thousands of pounds with despite the heating never being on, but nor is it impossible to get through to them.

Once people have settled down can only apply to fixed time dining.

You may need to just accept that what you thought in your mind isn't what you typed:-) 'once people have settled down' could be any occassion where more than one person has sat down or stopped faffing. It does not mean 'once a whole dining room has sat down and prepared to eat dinner at a fixed meal time'.

Yes, I've had that done to my laundry. I arrived to find my very wet clothing in a laundry basket. Somebody must have moved my clothes a few minutes after I put them in the dryer because I knew better than to be away for long. I got back right around when my clothes should have been dry. I wanted to dump THEIR clothes on the floor and put mine back in the dryer. Fortunately, another dryer had become empty, so I finished drying my clothes and didn't retaliate.

Why would you leave it in the first place

You are starting off at the top by sailing on Cunard.  It will be a step down to Princess.

I don't think you can purchase a Princess FCD while on your Cunard voyage.

If you decide to book your Caribbean sailing BEFORE you get on the Sky (2023). then you will not be able to use a FCD, after the fact.  It is for new bookings only.

If you are going to sail with a "new" Princess Passenger (has not had any contact with Princess), you can use their refer a friend program.  Both of you will receive $25 OBC upon sailing.

If you are military, you might be able to claim military OBC (I think UK is included/don't quote me on that).

If you have 100 CCL stock, you will also get some OBC while sailing on Cunard (I think again/don't quote me).

Princess allows you to combine all of these OBCs.  I don't think Holland or Carnival is the same.  They all fall under the Carnival Corporation.

Sorry ive confused matters. The Cunard cruise and Princess cruise are both booked and aware of the differences and shareholder OBC. My question is; i am planning a second princess cruise in 2024 (carribbean) so is there extra benefit in booking that when i am onboard Princess in 2023 or does it make no difference?

  12. 2 minutes ago, cr8tiv1 said:

Welcome to Princess.  I think you need to dissect your concerns.

    As I understand it:

    1.  You will be going on a cruise in 2023 and planning one for 2024.

    2.  Are you asking for advice about buying a Future Cruise Deposit (FCD)

or booking while on board in 2023?

    3.  I have rarely seen a reason to book on board a ship.

    4.  I have seen many reasons for buying an FCD while onboard.  You can only make this $100  FCD purchase while onboard.  I, for one, don't trust technology so usually fill out the request by paper early in the cruise, hand it over to the Captain Circle person, and check to see if it has been processed before I get off the ship.

    5.  I would buy two for each.  They are totally refundable after 2 years.  They will give you On Board Credit (OBC) depending on stateroom category and length of cruise.  Regardless...it's better than money sitting in a bank.

Hope you enjoy your first cruise with Princess.

Thank you. You are correct - I am on a princess cruise in May '23 and currently looking at a trip to Florida in the early part of '24. We will be on our first ever cruise this Autumn, which is with Cunard. I won't be booking any more trips until we have tested the waters, so to speak, with Cunard, but assuming we enjoy that cruise then we could either book the '24 trip from home, or wait until we sail in Sky Princess if there are benefits to doing that.

  13. As a newbie I have seen this mentioned but I don't think i really know what it means. We are on our first Princess cruise this time next year. We plan to take a short caribbean cruise sometime Jan -April 2024 (not sure when is best, i havent researched enough yet). What are the advantages of waiting to book until we are onboard Sky?

  14. Agree with others that the UK fee for a change of fare is £100 per cabin which is added to your bill to be paid later.

I didnt downgrade but i did switch to the new, substantially lower fare and kept the same cabin, overall saving myself about £700 even with the fee. So worth just keeping an eye on the price and you might get it cheaper witjout downgrading.

could get the antivirals sorted through the NHS whilst onboard (by phone or by email) for administering as soon as you are off the ship.

    Really?!?

My doctor's surgery doesn't have email because they are so worried about inadvertantly breaching GDPR, and if you don't phone them within 30 minutes of opening in the morning you muat wait until the next day.

If you have a doctor who takes phone calls at any time and uses email you are very fortunate indeed!

Really?  We had 2 Regal Princess departures out of FLL in 2019 and each time we were on the ship in 15 minutes (and those were Medallion cruises).

I dont think it's possible or relevant to compare now with pre covid. Completely different world.
