You never had traditional early if you can make MTD reservations. You need to stick to one or the other - you usually can’t switch between them after the first day on board.

Yes I know we cant switch back and forth. Nor would we as it would be unfair to the staff or those waiting. However, I called RCCL last night with a different issue and they confirmed we are main dining with My time reservations as well.

I am not discounting your experience, but you were on Carnival. Surprisingly, the answer is not always the same for different cruise lines.  For example, out of Baltimore, Carnival opens the casino earlier than RC, because Carnival has made the decision to pay Maryland blackmail, and RC has not.

I don't know if any of that applies to New Orleans.  🙂

Royal Caribbean hasn't cruised out of NOLA in a few years. The first "return to NOLA" cruise embarks next Friday.

hoosier sailor is the best offer of information.  🙂

Actually I have been on several cruises out of NOLA including river boat gambling. They have to get out of the ship channel as well. They cannot open until they hit a certain spot as well. And it depends on how fast the captain goes. It was similar to the Houston ship channel when ships cruised out of there. It was a long channel that took time to get to open water. Which is why they opened the Galveston terminal. Easier and faster to get to open water.

  3. When we booked our Explorer cruise last week, My Time was not an option. However, in the app, I was able to make reservations. The earlies time was 6:45 and went p in 15 minutes increments. My early dining time is still there. Now i wonder if I find we need an early dinner to hit a show or other activity, can i cancel the My Time reservation and go to my early seating?

If you’ve cruised out of New Orleans in the past year, how long after sailing does the casino open?  That’s my question.  I don’t care where we are and I don’t smoke so I don’t care about purchasing cigarettes.  Thanks

Cruised in July. It was open within in the hour of heading straight. That meaning the ship faces one direction. Then at sail away it turns 180 which takes a few minutes. If theres not much traffic in the ship channel, it should be within 30 minutes to an hour of sail away. As i said, it depends on how quickly they hit that magic spot. A lot will depend on how slow the captain wants to go so people can see the landscape along the way.

  5. I know this may get move to the Ports of call board but I wanted to make sure I got answers from past RCCL cruisers. I see online there are two different excursions for the ziplining. One is 1.5 hours long and the other is 45 minutes long. Also one is about $15 cheaper than the other. Can any one explain the difference as I don't see any in the description? We haven't been to Labadee in over 25 years when the only thing to do was go to the beach or walk the self guided path to the Dragon's Breath! LOL

  6. We have cruised several times out of NOLA. Its not so much getting into international waters as getting out of the ship channel and into the Mississippi river. There's some magical spot where it ends. It opens sooner than if when you hit the ocean, Also, If you're a smoker, keep in mind they stop selling cigarettes' before the ship hits the River on the last night. We don't smoke but there were some pretty upset people who couldn't buy any and ran out. It was around 9;00pm the night before or maybe sooner.

Hello, I just got off Explorer OTS this past Sunday and had an amazing cruise !  The name of the nightclub is Dizzy's and myself and Husband had a great time each night we went there . Make sure NOT to miss Silent Disco so much fun 😀

Thanks so much! We were confused because it looked small and not as "Clubby" as what were used to from other cruise lines. But as long as there's dancing, we're good!

  8. Thanks! We used Courtney Taylor last July in Montego Bay and loved it. I've already reached out to them. But Im concerned about her finding the driver and the distance they have to cover. Montego Bay required asking a few people and maneuvering a ton of other tours to get to the right place. I dont want her to stress out since she's a little type A and we've never docked in Falmouth with her before. As much as I hate the big groups, I think she would be more comfortable on a ship's tour the first time solo. She's been around Europe alone and managed fine. But there was no hard departure time. One of our family traditions is cheering on the last minute runners from our balcony. We may have scared her for life! LOL

RCCL has a tour that does both BH and DRF which is great

  9. Hey there

I know this may get sent to the ports of call board, But i was hoping for thoughts specific to RCCL's excursions. We normally will book privately. But this is our 21 year old daughter's first cruise without us and she will have her boyfriend with her- first time cruiser. I thought the ship's excursions will be easier for them to navigate on their own. Has anyone done either of these tours to give some insight? They are both very active and said they think both are cool. They are climbers so the cave would be cool. But they also like the rope swinging and diving part of blue hole. I know Dunns is hit or miss with timing and crowds as far as enjoying it. They will be there the first week in january. Any comments will be appreciated

She will get what she normally gets.  Her friend won't get anything.  Not sure what Emerald gets.  DH and I get 6 total as D+.

I think its just one drink and a cookie or something like that.I remember back in the day when they had the C&A parties on board at all levels, those in your room could join even if they weren't at that level. Or if you went to one of the islands with a C&A lounge on land, they could join and get the free drink. The friend will be fine with the deluxe drink package so there's no worry. Just didnt know if I needed to select a different drink

    Thanks!

  11. Hey there!

First time our DD will be traveling without us. She is Emerald but its the first cruise for her friend who is joining. Will there only be one drink in the room? Water is her beverage choice which i know is also the default. So just checking to see if there would be one or two bottles

I can only say that as I grow older, my lifes expectations change. 20 years ago, I might have been right in there with the rowdy group. Now? Not so much. Having a rowdy good time is not a new thing in 2022. It's always been there.

You have the freedom to stay where you are. You also have the freedom to change your expectations and the brand.

I dont think 20 years ago any of us would have been throwing deck chairs over the side of the ship and cursing the security. And in my 15+ cruises, I never saw fighting like I have recently. In July, the immigration officers were called to break up a fight in the luggage area. It was a full out brawl. Kids smoking pot and talking and laughing loudly outside of our cabin door at midnight? They just gathered on the floor in the hallway even though none of them were even staying in our area. Kids running down the halls at 3:00am jiggling door knobs of all the cabins? This is  not just people having fun anymore. Its disturbances
