I didn’t, but now I do. Thanks a lot!

I am Team Nightswimming. I always hop in the pool at hotels before bed, but I wasn’t sure if this was a thing on Carnival Are pools open after dark? If so, are they open all night? Will a lifeguard creepily stand nearby if I’m swimming in a pool alone at night? What time do they drain all the urine from the pool?
-
They do. It only has 1/4 of a strawberry though so you have to order three more plates.
-
Agreed! We skipped desserts a few nights which is very unusual for me. Dessert is my favorite meal. Also, apparently the cake buffet is only open at lunch. Why? I’m far more likely to crave cake late at night then at noon.

This is the first I’m hearing of a double chocolate brownie and I’m so sorry. I bet it was amazing. Desserts are the one thing nobody should ever mess with.

Did nobody else notice that the butterscotch ice cream has been removed from the Banana Cream Pie? Ok now I’m angry.

Whatever. I’m probably going to be too hungover to notice. Are other lines cutting like this?

Horizon - Sept 17-26 - On Board! Any questions?
Crismess669 replied to lesters's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Looks like you’re doing ABCs and I’m jealous as I sit here in a Zoom call. Fantasizing about our cruise on Horizon in December is getting me through these difficult times. Did the steakhouse still honor free wine on the first night? Have you noticed the ship being hot? Thanks and have a blast! Edit: Just paid for my internet package this morning so seeing you on here is a good sign! -
I just bought the value package for 6-nights and the total was $66.30. Our cruise is in December, so looks like they’re honoring the previous price even if the cruise isn’t before October 1. Thanks for the heads up! I can’t stand the idea of not being able to Google every thought that pops into my head.

I bet they don’t have this problem on the Jimmy Buffet cruise 😁 -

Weed Problem on Carnival Ships

I’m a medical marijuana patient in Florida, so I can believe it. You’d probably be surprised at the amount of retirees in the dispensaries. It’s not just young, broke people who are choosing to make dumb decisions and bring the smelliest method of consumption for their medicine on board. EDIT: Not excusing it. It smells bad. People need to use more discretion and stop being inconsiderate tools.- 117 replies

Do you know who desires to drink coffee in their cabin before dealing with other humans? It’s me. Getting up and making a plate involves waiting in long lines and dealing with people before getting caffeine, then trying to get back to the cabin with a plate, silverware and cup while trying not to scald yourself. It can easily take an hour. Not everybody is equipped for that life.

That’s even worse than I thought.

It’s starting to sound like it’s not open. I’m not sure if it’s permanently closed, but it’s a bummer.

I just noticed this on the Horizon deck plans. The Carnival site has very little info and it seems to be shrouded in mystery, but the site does say they have 17+ movies. Sounds spicy. Has anybody spent money on this?
-
I’m trying to wrap my mind around Carnival charging actual money for a really hard sandwich of a mysterious origin, but I’m coming up blank.

We’re doing on excursion, but I’m hoping we’ll have time to buy a coffee mug with a pot leaf colored with the Jamaican flag or something classy like that. What I’ve read about Ocho Rios hasn’t been great (apparently some people are scared to leave the damn boat). I don’t want to be screamed at by shopkeepers, sexually harassed or asked if I wanna buy ganja. Of course I wanna buy ganja, but not in a foreign country. I’ve seen Locked Up: Abroad. Are there shops in the port? Google Maps shows a little shopping area nearby. Is it sketchy? -I should note this has nothing to do with Jamaica as a country. It’s Ocho Rios specifically.

Never say never. My uncle was diagnosed last year. He’s 67.

Formal nights on Carnival - how formal?
Crismess669 replied to Caracarn2's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We went to formal night on our February cruise. We brought dresses and did our hair. We went to the dining room and there was hardly anybody in there, so we only really dealt with the staff. We ate mediocre prime rib, the worst fruit plate I’ve ever seen in my life (1/4 of a strawberry!) and were out of there in under an hour. Went back to the room and changed into comfy clothes for the evening. There was zero point to us making any effort and I don’t get it. Point is, do what you want. Nobody is gonna notice. -
Carnival Sunrise and Spring Break Help Needed
Crismess669 replied to 3smithboys's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We were on Sunrise when the ship was at half capacity. We never made it to Alchemy because it was always overflowing and we couldn’t always find seats at Red Frog. The MDR food was lousy. We had fun, we just wouldn’t sail her again. -
What’s a tradition you do after you board?
Crismess669 replied to Crismess669's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
If we can avoid the pool area entirely on the first day, that would be perfect. Of course that may prevent me from getting the funfetti cheesecake. -
Carnival first time cruiser impressions
Crismess669 replied to zentraveler's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
I’ll say something if I see it. I agree it’s degrading and sleazy. -
There was trivia on the ship even when we were in port. We’re huge trivia nerds, and in Cozumel we stayed on the ship late and were the only ones who showed up to a few rounds in Red Frog. We got a ship on a stick by default.

Are you serious? How many boats are doing this?
