  1. Hello, I am looking at booking on the MSC Poesia next year and deck 14 inside cabin above the spa looks like a nice area but I am concerned being near the pool might be noisy. Can anyone with experience on that deck advise if noise was an issue?
  2. I didn't do Haven but the terminal is small so should be easy to find and staff right out front to direct you
  3. When did you go? I heard that getting there was a mess but when we went they had changed things that made it easier. From our hotel to dropoff in front of terminal was 15 min max.
  4. I went beginning of Feb and process was pretty smooth. We went around 11:30 to miss the opening rush and were on the ship by about 12:30.
  5. Thanks! Maybe we will run into each other. I will be at the solo meetup tonight. First MSC cruise so fingers crossed!
  6. Hi I know it’s last minute but anyone know which terminal 1,2 or 3 MSC is using for Meraviglia today? Not specified in my cruise docs.
  7. I had this exact issue booking in US but living in Canada. I had to call a couple of times but finally got a great customer service rep who was able to fix the situation with me on the phone and I was able to get my cruise docs.
  8. Looking back the extra latitude point might have been because the cruise was a latitude insider cruise.
  9. I can only tell you what I got in March. There was no single supplement on a mini club suite so was same price for me as a solo as an interior, I received an extra specialty dining and I got extra latitudes points. I was past the final payment date when I booked.
  10. OK I must have booked with a promotion then.
  11. You also get additional Latitudes points I believe, and I think an additional speciality dining if you are a solo. Also sometimes as a solo you are not charged a double occupancy in a suite so sometimes same cost or cheaper than an interior cabin.
  12. Also look for deals on port days!
  13. I have travelled once as a solo on NCL and met tons of people and had designated solo traveller events and the night life was great. How does MSC compare? With all the different languages do people have issues meeting other solo travellers or groups? How about MDR seating? Do you end up at a table with no one talking to each other? How is the night life?
  14. Lol usually at the spa! If you start a massage at or before sail away you get the port day pricing and I have seen tons of sail aways!
  15. My wife is not celiac but she can’t have gluten or soy. The cruise has been fantastic in accommodating her and is one of the reasons we cruise. She meets with the person on board and pre-orders her meals the day before. Lots of options and the can make changes to most dishes. The flourless chocolate cake is delicious.
  16. I don’t understand all these cheerleaders for cruise lines going out of business in a cruise forum. Let’s say ncl and carnival and royal go out of business. What do you think that will do to availability and prices? If anything you should be hoping all the lines do well as competition breeds innovation, more options and better prices.
  17. I can’t have shellfish as well and they were very good at respecting that. They cooked the chicken and beef first for us and the shrimp only went on after we were served.
  18. Never taken Celebrity so I can’t comment on the cruise itself but I just did a mock booking to compare prices to my February NCL cruise and I either had to choose 0 perks for same price or $1000 more for gratuity and a beverage package I won’t use so not seeing the huge price savings you are promoting. Couple of disclosures: 1) my ncl cruise has 6 ports so more port fees so actually a point in ncl favor for a same cost cruise 2) didn’t take the drink package since not going to be on ship most of the time 3) with 6 ports the $50 per excursion goes along way in savings if booking through the ship which we do So price wise they seem pretty close to me. Either I pay $3200 for Celebrity for all included or I pay $2200 for NCL and add $1000 for fees to there packages. End of the day looks like my out of pocket is $3200. So try both, look for deals, itineraries that interest you and stick with the one you prefer.
  19. I have been to all 3. Le Bistro is my favorite always have loved the food there. Modernist has these delicious rolls made from cheese that are great for my wife since she can’t eat gluten but I find the meat they serve to be a bit dry. The grilled pineapple is very good though. Teppanyaki was ok food wise, nothing special but my experience was ruined by having the “show” ruined by the other side of the table being served first and our chef doing same show right after. Would not rush back.
  20. I have been on Holland once and a back to back on royal. Most of my cruises have been with NCL. There are many sites that do royal vs ncl comparisons but here are a couple of things I observed. My number one preference is the dining format of unassigned times and seating. Just my preference. Food is comparable but for food allergies my wife found ncl made her feel safer. Shows on ncl seemed better to me. Ship design especially on newer ships has different philosophy. Ncl with waterfront and other things pushes you outside and royal seems to direct you in. I was happy with both but prefer ncl. Holland age demographic to old for me at this time(I am in my 40s).
  21. I myself would miss a changing menu but with lots of other free venues to choose from I would not get bored. When I go out to eat restaurants don’t change there menu every day and I often order the same thing every time anyway. On the other hand my wife has food allergies and having a fixed menu makes her life so much easier.
  22. I have been on NCL, Royal and Holland America. Found all the rooms pretty much comparable. Pool decks are kinda small but I get ansy sitting too long so I move around a lot. I got the vibe pass on my last cruise so I would always have a spot to sit and it was good.
  23. Norwegian has deals sometime with no single supplement. In April I was able to do a mini-suite for same cost as an inside with single supplement.
