Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Yeah we were pretty upset about it. I try not to sound too angry on the forums because people will call me petty. Glad to know there are some on these threads that view not having hot water as a legitimate issue!
  2. We're looking for a homerun tonight! If you've been to Cucina before and you really liked your selections, please post your ideal lineup for the following: Appetizer Entree Side Dessert
  3. Currently on the Vista and had a chance to get the Steak and Cheese for dinner a few days ago. I have a feeling that it gonna be a hit! Very good in my opinion! Also, I might be in the minority on this, but I actually like that they switched out the fries for the potato chips! The fries aren't made-to-order in the deli so they're usually sad and limp by the time they get on your plate. The chips definitely work better with the deli concept.
  4. Hot water is out once again! On the bright side, we got another note in our cabin that we would be getting an additional $100/cabin in OBC for a total of $200/cabin! There's one full day left and most specialty dining is booked solid for the rest of the cruise so I'm not sure what we're going to use the additional spend on...but it certainly is a nice gesture.
  5. This morning we were notified that everyone would be getting $100/cabin OBC to make up for the water problem. I think the compensation for the inconvenience is pretty reasonable. I don't remember how many cabins Vista has but they had to have spent at least $50-$100K in OBC ship-wide to keep everyone happy.
  6. Somewhat! This morning the water was slightly warm and it's a lot better as of the time I'm writing this (10:30PM). We went to guest services around 11AM today and they said that the heater was fixed the night before but it would take time for the water tanks to warm up the reserve tanks. We're getting there!
  7. We're currently sailing on the Vista and we haven't had any hot water since this morning (Port Day in Montego Bay, Jamaica). The hot water went out somewhere around 10:30AM and as of 10:22PM the issue still hasn't been fixed. There was an announcement earlier this evening about the hot water being fixed but NOPE. Still no hot water in our cabin. We went to guest services to ask about it and they confirmed that the hot water is indeed still out ship-wide. It's not the end of the world but dang, it's pretty frustrating. Just thought you all should know.
  8. I’ll admit that I’m a creature of habit 😅 we’ve been on quite a few different carnival ships in the past year and the quality of the MDR has varied so much that we are always hoping that it’ll be better than last time we ate it. I made this post to warn others not to follow in our footsteps and to not be afraid to try new (or multiple) things. Formal night always feels “high risk” to us because it’s arguably the best meal of the cruise but that doesn’t mean you need to always play it safe! We know that now.
  9. My wife and I are frequent cruisers and currently living it up on Carnival Vista. We ALWAYS order lobster on the first formal night and are ALWAYS unimpressed with it. The mushroom risotto that also comes with the dish is always bland and gummy, nothing like a real risotto. Here's a pro tip: Get the Pan Striped Bass! I got out of my comfort zone last night and tried the Pan Striped Bass instead and was blown away due to how great it was! Not only was the fish perfectly cooked with a crispy skin, but the gnocchi that came with it was so flavorful! I'll definitely be getting it again in lieu of lobster from now on.
  10. I wasn't saying that "no pancetta scrambled = cruise fair not worth value" You said that veteran cruisers had to google the cutbacks to know what has been cut. That is simply not true. We are seeing the cutbacks first-hand. It was just one of many examples from my recent sailings this past year.
  11. I don't think that's fair. We were just on the Glory a couple weeks ago and were bummed to find out they did away with our favorite brunch item, Pancetta Scrambled. I don't know if I'd call myself a veteran cruiser, but if you've been cruising on Carnival since before Covid, you'd definitely notice the cutbacks.
  12. Looks like it's the end of an era.... Fares are 2x-3x more expensive than earlier in the year. Seems like the deals are long gone at this point... It's also crazy considering Carnival is making major cutbacks right now. I just don't think the value is there anymore if you're paying full price 😞
  13. Thanks to everyone who replied! We were really hoping on Carnival coming out with amazing deals for the 4th of July weekend but we didn't see any major deals come out. Looks like the days of amazing deals really are over for the time being :(
  14. We snapped up a few cruises during the Sailabration and Memorial Day sales! We found out we have some more availability to cruise this year so we're trying to figure out the best time is to buy one or two more sailings. There's quite a few good deals on my account but none are GREAT deals like we've seen earlier this year. What do you guys think? Should we wait a bit longer before pulling the trigger to see if better deals come out?
