  1. I know you can rent equipment, but while I'm not sure about the price, I think their "Snorkel Adventure" package is the way to go... If you looked HERE, you probably saw this:

    SNORKEL ADVENTURE

    $35 Adult ● $20 Child (under 12)

    Includes Transportation to and from,

all Snorkel Equipment and Flotation Device.

Duration: 2 hrs, 4 hrs, 6 hrs (same price)

With Meal: additional $6 per person*

Even with your own gear, that's the way to go. It sure beats anything the ship offers!

Yep, that's the pricing I found. Thanks so very much for the photos - they're the best I've seen for this particular snorkel site.

  2. The staff was nice and they checked us in quickly. It cost $3 each, and we paid $5 for a locker plus a $5 deposit for the lock. Then, they sent us over to "Elvis" who gave us a short briefing about the reef and the turtle-filled grass banks on the way to it. He explained how walking through the sea grass and standing on the coral destroys the ecosystem, then offered us any equipment we may have forgotten.

This did NOT include equipment, right?

Did you notice what the cost was if you DID rent equipment?

    Love, love, love the pictures!

  3. I've been wondering about this...so I'm guessing they didn't say anything about moving the beds?? My first cruise was in an oceanview cabin. It drove me nuts to have to walk around the bed and squeeze through that small space just to look out the window. I think the cabins would be much better with the beds turned that way.

When DD and I cruise we have the beds as twins, then we move one long-ways against the right wall, 1 long-ways against the left wall and end up with a big open area in the middle of the cabin as well as super easy access to the window.

  4. Assuming you're talking about ginger capsules, not ginger vitamins, no need to take them now for a cruise in April. I usually start taking 2 or 3 per day, a day or two before my cruise and continue the first day, then maybe 1 per day afterwards. I also keep ginger candy (Gin-gins are my favorite!!) on hand during the cruise.

  5. On our Solstice roll call we're posting a picture and blurb each day as we count down the days. This pic was yesterday so we're down to 20 days now.

    In just

    blackjack-cards.jpg

    days, I’m willing to gamble,

up the Solstice gangway we will all ramble.

Let’s hope this great fortune of roll call folks meeting,

continues in the casino where soon we’ll be seating.

Wandering thru San Juan sharing some tales,

ending the night with all kinds of ales.

Come one, come all, to Wench JoJo’s slot pull,

hoping to make our sail-n-sign cards full.

Singing out ‘Brandy’ we’ll carry our tune

while trying to win an elusive deblume.

Into Elite parties we hope we can bust,

for we are good Pirates and pillage we must.

  6. I made 3 signs for our door on our cruise last year. Two had photos of our dogs, one said BONE, the other said VOYAGE. The third I changed each day - I posted a new quote about dogs, something catchy.

I love this idea!!! I may try to make it into a greeting card for one of my roll-call friends (maybe slip it under her cabin door) with a picture on the front of the fur-baby she is leaving at home!

  7. ALL the cruise lines - and the airlines operate exactly in the same manner.

No matter where this had happened to you, the results would be the same.

Smart travelers get insurance. Did you?

I was about to ask what you were thinking when you left an ipod in an unlocked suitcase.

But it is obvious that you were NOT thinking.

You might consider this loss a "not paying attention tax".

I don't see anything in the OP that indicates luggage was unlocked.

I agree - a "not paying attention tax" seems pretty crude. How about a "somebody stole my things" tax?

OP, I truly hope you get appropriate restitution. Getting ripped off is bad, getting ripped off twice is worse.

    There are four aft elevators.

Elevator roulette is set up on deck 7 in front of these elevators.

The indicators of what floors the elevators are at are covered.

You then place your (free) chip(s) to bet which elevator will be the next one to open its doors on that floor.

Regular roulette as a 1 in 38 chance of picking the right number. Elevator roulette gives you a 1 in 4 chance of being right.

I cut and pasted this from the 'Live from ...' thread referenced earlier. I'd be willing to try it out ; )

  9. I'll be in KW soon and had wondered the same thing - if there was an economical way to get around. I have to stress - I HAVE NOT TRIED THIS IN KW YET - but it looks like you can buy a one-day-pass on the city bus for $3 per person that would give you hop-on-hop-off privileges. I've been checking out www.keywestcity.com and it looks like taking the the blue route would let you get an overview of Key West. You could hop off the bus whenever it struck your fancy and walk around or back to the ship or retrace to areas that caught your eye. This is what I'll likely do, but again, I personally haven't tried it yet. In some cities, I've caught a bus to the furtherest point I wanted to visit, then just walked, meanderingly, back to where I needed to end up. Note: if you want to get a day-pass, you usually have to specify that before you give them the money.
