  1. In talking to a lady whose husband tested positive onboard Noordam 6/5-6/12, they were testing both people in a cabin. Only the positive person(s) were moved to deck 6 starboard side. The other negative person(s) could still be out and about on the ship, masked, just they were not allowed to eat or drink outside their cabin. They had to order room service.
  2. We mostly did $40 total for our family of 3 - in some cases that meant we were tipping the bus driver $40 and the boat crew $40 in the same excursion. For whitewater rafting in Denali our guide was amazing and he worked hard that day we ended up tipping $100 total.
  3. On Noordam June 5-12 they had surgical masks in the room. At the resort in Denali they had KN95 masks in the main lodge.
  4. I will say, they did not tell us masks were required when we left Anchorage on June 2 to go to Denali by bus, or on the train to Whittier on June 5. However, 95% of people were wearing masks. I think everyone realized they really wanted to go on this trip and would protect themselves. The bus is a little more crowded in terms of seats being closer together. The train is a bit more spaced out.
  5. We were on Noordam and did Whittier to Vancouver, amazing trip and would recommend to anyone! when you sail past the glaciers on Noordam they opened a forward deck on 4 that is normally closed. They had a bar set up outside but more people were eating the pea soup they were serving than ordered drinks. It was rainy and 48 that day! Skagway we did the white trail pass which fun, and the summer sled dog excursion which was a favorite for us. Juneau was whale watching and mendenhall glacier. And Ketichikan we did the misty fjords boat trip (do not recommend). Have fun, wish I could go back and we've only been home a week!
  6. they will help onboard the ship towards the ends. However, I had someone that already done theirs help me. You will put in the address for the vancouver airport as to where you are "staying". From that point it was easy enough to finish.
  7. We have not done the longer trip to Hawaii, and it was not HAL, but our Hawaiian cruise is still one of my favorite cruises we have done. Enjoy!!
  8. My husband wore jeans every night, my teen son wore his school uniform shorts to dinner a few times. We were on Noordam for Alaska June 5-12. Even on the second gala night we were sitting facing the reception desk, a man was seated wearing jeans, a hoodie and a baseball cap . . . on gala night. I found the dress code to be much more relaxed. And since it was Alaska and much cooler outside the indoor spaces were not freezing with the AC blasting. The MDR was not nearly as dressy, I typically wore nice jeans, a cute top and a cardigan.
  9. We were on Noordam and they had the motion sensor lights under cabinets in the room. My husband started putting a towel down so they would not shine in his face. Our bathroom had a nightlight in the ceiling, but we were in a signature suite and our son's interior cabin across the hall did not have the bathroom nightlight (but did have the under cabinet lights).
  10. This happened to my husband before our Alaska land / sea tour with HAL a couple of weeks ago. He tested positive 12 days prior to our cruise start, 8 days prior to our land start. He was symptom free though and the day before we were flying he went to Care Now and got a letter of recovery saying he could return to work / travel. Thankfully he didn't need it as when we tested in Denali for our cruise he was negative at that time.
