I know in Hawaii we are super strict about what is allowed off planes and ships. It's not really surprising to me that other places are strict, too.
-
Yes they are in Alaska no one cares. Were on the same cruise with you.
Really? From what I understand, open packages of food aren't allowed off the ship.
Have you joined our roll call? It's getting close!!
-
And what about the parents bringing milk off the ships for kids? I see it all the time, not necessarily HAL, but it was obvious and did not appear to be an issue...
Good discussion topic and nice reference link from Serendipity.
Like sealed crackers and cereal, the milk boxes are also closed. If they were opened, they would not be allowed off the ship.

THAT IS SO AWESOME!!!!!!! Congratulations!!!!!
After end there is no reply arrow. No, I don't think I am logged into CC on Tapatalk. How do I do that?
LOL aaaaaand we've reached the limit of my understanding. I figured it out by accident!

I have clicked on the 3 dots, but what you describe doesn't appear. I have an LG Lucid by android.
How do I log into CC on my phone? Maybe that is my problem.
This is what my screen looks like.
I can quick reply by clicking that blank bar at the bottom and the arrow or I can quote someone by clicking their comment and pressing the comment bubble at the top.
To attach a picture I click the dots.
Then attach picture and the gallery.
Then you click image at the top. Are you sure you are logged into CC on Tapatalk?

I go to tapatalk which is installed on my phone, but I can't get Holland America line to come up any more. It doesn't give me a choice. It brings up the page by topics. I want the same page I always get on my computer. What am I doing wrong??
Top left. I think you have to click browse.

Welcome to the future! Surprisingly easy to post pictures from your phone, isn't it?
It is a little harder to do formatting though - unless you have an external Bluetooth keyboard. Also, the emoticons in the Tapatalk version are Emojis. A lot of people using browsers won't see them correctly. You have to learn the keyboard equivalents.
Smiley face is colon close parentheses - :)
Laugh face is colon capital D - :D
Sad face is colon open parentheses - :(
Confused, Cool and eek are made by enclosing the lowercase version of each word between two colons, leaving out the spaces. -,, and
There are a couple of others such as mad face, but I don't remember those off the top of my head.
LOL thanks! I did know those and learned my lesson about the tapatalk emoticons a few months ago (had to remove my wink because you used 6 and I couldn't pick which one I wanted to delete LOL)

We went through Costco and are renting from AVIS for $64 for the day :)

I really really want to try these places, but my husband is SO anti paying for food when we can eat on the ship :( boo.
-
Just testing it out. Wow! I had no idea we could do this!!

They are more expensive, but high-lights low-lights last longer than all over color. I can go 8-10 weeks between appointments that way. Maybe splurge before you go and get high/low lights.

Your graphics almost make me want to learn how to make graphics. Almost.

This is a great thread - thanks. I am taking my first HAL cruise in January on Zaandam to Antarctica and S. America - can't wait! It certainly sounds like my kind of cruising :)
Yes, looking at the ships you've sailed, I think you're going to LOVE HAL!!
-
Thank you for responding!
I will go back and look for where exactly, they were beach/ocean front.
Definitely don't want shady...LOL
If it was Waterfront of Pu'uloa I'd recommend it. It's old Navy Housing. The entrance is gated with a guard. The beaches are nice. There is a gym and exercise path. Ewa Beach is notorious for GREAT weather (we hardly ever get any rain).

LOL! Good for both of you! Hope you stayed at the M&G and enjoyed yourselves.
We did and had a wonderful time :)

It's so strange. Not once in my year of planning had I thought I would drop our girls off with Club HAL in the evenings. But then, reading about the comedian and a quiet evening working on a puzzle, all I could think about were all the options for date night after date night with my husband. We NEVER get to go on dates here at home (no one to watch our girls). How had this not occurred to me until now? Pinnacle dinner, a show, drinks at a bar? HELLO, MARY?! ROFL
-
Arrive at piano bar first night by 9 p.m. to grab a seat at the piano bar, join in the sing along. It is great fun
ROFL my husband did that without me on the first night of our first cruise. He didn't know he'd wondered into a Friends of Dorothy Meet and Greet. He spent an hour there singing show tunes before calling the room and asking me to join him. The audible moan from the group of men at the bar when I joined him was pretty hilarious. My husband was completely clueless.
Piano bars are still his favorite place on cruises. He even found one in Boston last month when he was there for the marathon ;)

I see you live in Ewa Beach....We were actually thinking of staying at a vacation rental there post-cruise.
We want 3-4 days of scenery and R & R.
Any insight you can share?
Can you tell me a bit more about where EXACTLY in Ewa Beach?? There are great places here and there are shady places here. LOL For instance, I wouldn't recommend any place south of Papipi Road in Ewa Beach. Ocean Pointe, Ewa Gentry, Ka Makana, Waterfront at Pu'uloa are all nice places. Ko'Olina in Kapolei would be a great place to look at for vacation rentals for just a few days. It'll be more expensive, though. :(

Maybe because it's lunch time here, but now I want to see pictures of the new dive in and some pictures of the burgers and fries, too!! LOL

I ended up asking one of the safety officers I know who took it upon himself to ask while he was on board. He was told that all Club HAL staff know how to administer Epi Pens and you can leave it with them at Club HAL when you drop your children off.
