  1. My family, DH, DD (11), DD (9), DD (8), and DD (3), and myself are sailing on Serenade TransAtlantic 16 days. RCI is a new line for us. I'm looking for cabin recommendations for our family. We are looking at everything from the extra large ocean view to the Jr. Suite or combinations of any category in between. 1 or 2 cabins? Adjoining? Next door? Across the hall? I'm trying to learn everything I can about this line and this ship, but I find the RCCL website to not be very informative.

    Mahalo!

  2. Matrix.itasoftware.com

Note, if you're interested in Southwest, you'll have to search their flights on their own webpage.

I love this website, but have you noticed the search times out a lot recently? I'm currently searching with it and haven't had a single search actually work.

  3. I hope you have a better time than we had. I didn't mind the mouse. I minded that the food was not good and the drink was awful. There are other places I'll go to spend $20+ a plate for better food (Nico's is cheaper).

  4. You seem to think I was attacking you. I went last night and posted my experience. That's it. Nothing personal. The food was awful (warm wilty salad with warm cheese, dry burger, awful drink) and we had a show at the Blaisdell (Brian Regan) that started at 8. A 5:30 reservation should have been more than enough time. I'm glad we went, the atmosphere is fun. I probably won't be going again.

  5. We went to La Mariana Restaurant & Bar tonight for dinner. I would not recommend it. The service was extremely slow (we sat down at 5:30 and had to beg to pay to leave at 7:30). A mouse ran across the floor of the restaurant. And the Zombie drink, while strong, tasted awful. I was very disappointed after reading so much here about it.

  6. If you like Tanakas, def ask for Kris next time you go to Central. Hes amazing. Filet and scallops yummmmmmm. His food is awesome and the show is more than worth the money

Have you tried Uncles? I like it better than Nicos.

We like Uncle's, too, but I really like the Riesling at Nico's (along with the furikaki ahi). Nom nom nom I'm hungry now!

P.S. I usually ask to go to Tanaka's for my birthday LOL

  7. We (4 of us) are on the POA in August and I have a few questions, if any one can help me...

1 - I read somewhere that one of the stops had a good beach very near the port. Which port is that? Beach name? And is the beach walkable, or just a reasonable cab ride away.

2 - When in Oahu before the cruise we have a day at Pearl Harbor planned. All the excursions are very expensive (4 of us). I think I would rather do the day on our own. Can we get there via cab from Waikiki hotel or would that be very expensive. Maybe the bus is an option? Would rather not rent a car just to go there, spend the day and go back to hotel.

3 - Looking for Luau options in Oahu

4 - On Kauai looking at an excursion to the canyon for $48pp (x 4). Assume car rental would be cheaper, but would it be easier? If we go that way what else should we see on the way there or back?

    thanks in advance....

    1. I'm not familiar with the other ports. I'll answer the Oahu questions, though.

    2. The Bus here is a really great option to get to Pearl Harbor. Totally doable on your own. Just make sure to go online and get your tickets for the USS Arizona far ahead of time. They are free, so they go quickly. http://www.recreation.gov/showPage.do;jsessionid=B578F9CCCD1A7B229839FD6B192166AF.web08-ny?name=landing&landing=/htm/pearlharbor/home.jsp&contractCode=NRSO&parkId=72369

    3. My two favorite Luau's are Germaine's and Paradise Cove. Germaine's is cheaper and I really like the food. Their hula show is a bit too Vegas IMO. Paradise Cove has a beautiful atmosphere, and food is good, and the show is nice. It's more expensive, though.

    4. Can't answer this.

  8. I don't recall the name, but the revolving restaurant in Waikiki is a lot of fun, and IIRC the food was quite good. Google and Yelp should help out if it's still worth going to.

Top of Waikiki. They have TWO happy hour periods every night. I love it there.

    Tanaka of Tokyo Central

Ask for Kris. Best tepanyaki show I've seen and he makes the food delicious.

Tanaka of Tokyo is a bit pricey, but I LOVE their food! There will be a tepanyaki style restaurant on the Pride of America, however.

Someone mentioned Hy's, it's also really expensive.

One of my favorite places, as a local, not too far from Waikiki (maybe a 15 min. taxi ride?) is Nico's Pier 38. It's a local favorite with super fresh fish and live music Friday and Saturday evenings. It's the place my husband and I usually end up on "date night" when we have a sitter. BUT it's not in Waikiki. In Waikiki we like Cheesecake Factory (prepare for a long wait for a table), Jimmy Buffet's, Duke's (for dinner or breakfast), and Teddy's Bigger Burger by the Zoo.

  9. It should work, if it's only 1 wall away. Good idea...and don't worry about it...you'll be closer side by side than you are at home!!

Thanks! The search function on my cell's app wasn't working. I appreciate the helpful answer. :)

  10. We are cruising with NCL on the Pride of America. Because we are a family of 5 and all the suites were booked, we booked two cabins next to each other. There is NOT a connecting door. We were thinking about putting a baby monitor in our kids' room to monitor them. Our girls are older, so we trust them. We just want to know when they are awake in the morning. Any other ideas?
