Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. Well, this boat goes to the waters of Antarctica, it does not allow you to walk upon the land of the continent. The excursions will all be in either Stanley Falkland Is (*which we missed due to bad weather*) or South America. Half of which were docks. The tenders were large and there was no need for extra gear.
  2. I will speak to some of this, as we were on the same cruise. The staff was amazing. While we have had a couple of NCL's this year where the service is lacking due to staff:customer ratios, this was not the case on the Star and Antarctica. In terms of clothing - we brought way more than we needed. We could have easily taken only half. And this is from a FLA gal who does not like it below 70*. The ship itself is well insulated. So the only need for outer clothing layers is for the excursions and walking out on deck. Although the 1st day of Elephant Island, they served hot cocoa and churros up on the pool deck. My husband only wore a single long-sleeved shirt with a winter vest on most of our days outside. Keep in mind that Buenos Aries will be having summer, so plan for 80* on the beginning and end days. And do take the time to stay a few days before and after if your schedule allows. There is so much we want to go back to Argentina for now. After all you are flying so far and just skipping a lovely portion of the trip. In terms of 'being worn' we did not find that to be the case. It was refurbished in 2021. I hope that helps and have a great time!
  3. Oh. We don't generally eat at the buffet. We simply went to the Main DR and it was just fabulous. While hubby went with the traditional turkey with all the trimmings, (*and they trimmed it very extensively*) - I went with something less traditional but all the autumn flavors. Penne with a Pumpkin cream sauce, with bits of gorgonzola, spinach and butternut squash. Absolutely my new favorite thing.
  4. We will absolutely book for Thanksgiving again. While there were a lot of families, they only had 60% occupancy. So there was more of the "parental overstretched" but the kids were heard more than seen. The staff were lovely about making it festive.
  5. So... we are home and we will say this: 1. The bars ๐Ÿธ were quiet as mice ๐Ÿ 2. The pool deck ๐ŸŠโ€โ™‚๏ธ gave us the impression there was a heard of elephant ๐Ÿ˜ up there. If you want to sleep ๐Ÿ’ค in, or nap ๐Ÿ˜ด during the day.... bring really good earplugs. The noises aren't just from the deck above. The walls on the Sky are paper thin. ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿค We will not book this deck ever again.
  6. We are also on deck 10, but on the starboard fwd portion. The noise that we are getting is the slamming of the doors ๐Ÿšช. I'm going to hope that people will settle down soon. Thank heavens for earplugs. Let's hope that they work. Feel free to reach out to Zack Tennant, if you'd like to meet some native Floridans while on board. Marcella
  7. We are doing the exact same thing. Arrived at the Hilton yesterday and will board the Sky tomorrow. (*I simply didn't want to be rushed*) We couldn't decide on which set of parents to disappoint... nor which daughter. So we are disappointing All of them! ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ™‚ We are choosing Cagney's for Wednesday in hopes that there will be some sort of Thanksgiving meal on Thursday.
