  1. I agree with you that they should offer a second testing knowing there are false positives and also with your negative home tests. Not sure how careful your tester handled the packages. Again, ours didnt change gloves from the couple before us. But he also didn’t appear to touch the swabs. He did touch the packages and as such, there could be transfer. But most likely, the efficacy of the test is most likely the cause of the false positive. But, I know from the couple across the hall, that despite repeated requests, Princess wouldnt accept another test after the positive results. I am very sorry… I agree this is a hot mess right now for Princess. They clearly aren’t ready for this and once you test positive, they essentially hand you off to a third party. I am hearing they are transporting folks from McKinley down to Anchorage and they are being placed in a hotel with a rate of $550 per night! Wow!!
  2. Good to hear. Very different from what the neighbors across the hall have seemed to have experienced. If Princess is clearly spelling things out, that helps to know what occurs next as opposed to feeling like one is stuck. Sorry for the loss of the rest of the land tour and cruise. For us, this has been a 30 year dream. And we wondered if this year was “too soon” but decided to risk it anyway. Hopefully the quarantine process and then trip home are as smooth as possible. Still believe that Kentucky is paradise (we live in Shelby County),
  3. Are you at McKinley? We are here… hearing and seeing the same thing. 10 in our group. One tested positive. 9 negative. There is no way. The tester never switched gloves… at the front desk (McKinley) today, I stood there as one female guest was asking the male clerk what to do after she tested positive. He told her “your vacation is over” and to go pack. That she would be contacted. The one in our group that tested positive has had to call the front desk repeatedly to try to get answers. Same thing with Princess on the phone. No assistance at all. I have gone to Facebook and posted on the Princess Cruise account. I opened a Twitter account and tweeted them (and I HATE Twitter, this was hard for me to do…) and also did the same on Instagram. Do the same. Also, email Roger Frizzell. He is the Chief Communications Officer at Carnival. His email in actually listed on the Princess and Carnival websites. Then, file a claim with your states Attorney General. Not the BBB… but your Attorney General and copy that to the California Attorney generals office. As to your self testing, the one in our group that tested positive, asked. They will not accept your tests or even allow you to retest. They will kick you out. No choice there. The tests they use are 98% correct for negative results, and 87% correct for positive results. So there are 13% (at least) false positives. But they wont even allow the retest. Your best course of action is to YELL using the internet… Tweet, Instagram, Facebook, whatever and call them out and then warn others about the hot mess that Princess is right now. It would be a little better if they would at least respond and let you know what comes next… but they aren’t even doing this.
  4. @sunsetme Masks are required in public areas only. Open spaces they are recommended. BUT, the hot mess right now (we are on a land then sea trip), is that Princess is really struggling. We have seen folks tested and Dx’d with Covid who are then just left out to dry. No communication, no information, and lots of broken hearts as most who cruise to Alaska have put a lot of money and planning into this. We are Platinum cruisers with Princess, and this trip has been a nightmare with Princess. We experienced delays in getting to AK, and had purchased flights through Princess Air. With their 24/7 guarantee and promise to catch one up. But, they told us when we arrived a day late, that we would have to miss the land portion of our tour, and catch the ship on July 2nd. I told them that we wanted to join the tour, but late. They finally agreed, but then told us we would be fully responsible for catching up to the land tour without any offers to assist with rebooking travel, or any transportation. So, after working with Delta, 30 hours later, and a $400 Lyft bill, we finally joined our group. But, I personally saw 3 individuals “kicked out” today because of Covid testing. I was at the front desk when another customer walked up who had tested positive was told by the clerk “well, your vacation is over”… no empathy, nothing. Then, they didnt even wipe down the desk the person who tested positive had been at. So, my recommendation. If you are concerned about Covid… or if you are concerned with paying a lot of money for a trip that might end in the middle… where Princess kicks you out, and promises to assist, but then doesnt, wait… dont cruise with Princess now. They do not have things mapped out well. BTW, we cruised twice with Princess since November of 2021. Both out of Fort Lauderdale. First cruise out on Regal. We also were on one of the last cruises in March of 2020. Im ok taking risks… but I regret this trip because Princess has not been responsive or assisted. No customer support at all.
