Book direct or through travel agent?
TwoWestAussies replied to tiwi's topic in Royal Caribbean International
It appears that TA's in the US are different to here in Australia, I have spoken to a few so called Cruise Specialists here in Perth, I knew more than a couple of them, they either quoted the same or actually higher than I was able to get booking direct with RCL. When asked if the price of the cruise drops after booking; will they be able to get the lower price for me, I was told point blank by a couple that RCL no longer does that and it cannot be done - this is false. Also, as you said, our TA's here charge a couple of hundred for even the slightest change - so even if you did make a small saving on the initial booking - this will be quickly eaten up should you make any changes or you miss out on any credits should the price drop. -
Starbucks Coffee - Ovation of the Seas
TwoWestAussies replied to TwoWestAussies's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Thank you, as having speciality coffee was something I plan on taking advantage of with the drinks package, would hate to find out that it is no longer included and we will be paying extra... -
Hi Everyone, I heard that you can now buy Starbucks coffee from Cafe Promenade on Ovation of the Seas - as Starbuck's drinks are not included in the Deluxe Drink Package, does anyone know if you can still get speciality coffees from Cafe Promenade still if you don't want to pay extra for Starbucks coffee.

Yes that is the one, thank you - we don't bet much, but this is my husband's all time favourite machine. -
Ovation of the Seas - Casino Question
TwoWestAussies posted a topic in Royal Caribbean International
Does anyone know if the 'Piggy Bank' slot machine is in the Casino on Ovation of the Seas? -
Am I doing something wrong? We recently booked a cruise with Royal Caribbean, very simple process when it came to selecting cabin and it's location, however looking at booking a cruise with Carnival for 2024, and the process is completely different, I cannot see anyway that I can select midship or even the cabin? Is this standard for Carnival to assign you a cabin vs selecting your own? I like to do all of my own bookings direct and want to avoid having to go through a travel agent..

Hi Everyone, I am monitoring the price of my cruise for March 2023 and notice that the current special that Royal Caribbean is offering, calculates to less than we paid, however, the price of the cruise is slightly more, but when you include that they are including $200 USD on board credit, this brings the overall price to approx. $100 less than we originally booked for. Is this worth contacting Royal Caribbean for? Would they give us a small amount of OBC to make up the difference or should I just monitor the overall cost and ignore any OBC that are being offered? Thank You, I hope this makes sense.

El Cheapo Cruises Thread
TwoWestAussies replied to icat2000's topic in Australia & New Zealand Cruisers
Thank you, maybe there should be a separate thread for 'exclusive deals' and another for the rest of us? Knowing these bargains are out there for a selective few does not help the ones who don't have access to them.. 😞 -

Thank you, but I do understand this, however, there is no option to choose your cabin during the booking process, it actually comes up with a message saying only a guaranteed cabin is available - you are unable to choose to select your own cabin like you can with RCI... Also, the booking clearly states 'What you get is an 'Interior' 'Ocean Balcony' or 'Stateroom' - does not say balcony at all? Yet selected a balcony cabin? so by rights they can actually assign an interior cabin, even though I would be paying for a balcony cabin... Wondering if this is because it may be full and just wants to fill up the last random cabins - as I found it unusual that it will not allow you the option to select your own cabin... I think I will give this one a miss, too many unknowns, I like to know what I am getting - I hate surprises.

Just looking at Carnival Splendor Cruise to NZ in 2023, when I went through the booking process, you can select Balcony (for $1500 more than interior and $500 more than Ocean View Balcony) but there is no option to select level or cabin - then at the end of the booking process it states that you can be assigned any room including an interior room or Ocean View Balcony? This does not make sense, is this standard for Carnival? If you were assigned a lower grade, do they refund you the difference?
