  1. Oops, no, definitely not a problem for deck 10. Not that the commodore club is particularly noisy anyway.
  2. I'm surprised you got allocated a guaranteed cabin so early. I'm booked on the same crossing and also in a guaranteed cabin (obstructed balcony) and haven't been allocated anything yet. Expect the Atlantic to be rough in January. Being high up and quite far forward you'll be more susceptible to feeling the ship's motion. There might be some noise from the commodore club too depending how early you like to turn in for the night. Otherwise, you're conveniently located near the pool, commodore club and buffet. As for special activities and gifts, I haven't heard anything but I have my fingers crossed.
  3. Is beef wellington still part of the menu rotation in Britannia for gala nights?
  4. I've had the absolute pleasure of being on a QM2 sailing with Bill Miller, "Mr. Ocean Liner". He's immensely knowledgeable about ocean liners of course, but an extremely captivating speaker as well. He packed the illuminations theatre every day he spoke. Very friendly gentlemen to speak to around the ship as well.
  5. If you're not planning on sight seeing, I stayed at the Lodge Red Hook hotel. The hotel itself is quite basic, but it's clean and the location is very convenient as it's walking distance to the cruise terminal. There are a few nice restaurants in the neighbourhood too, I highly recommend Bar Mario if you enjoy Italian food. You can also easily walk to the waterfront and see the statue of liberty.
  6. I'm curious as well, I've been out on my (sheltered) balcony on QM2 while all exterior decks were closed due to high winds.
  7. Correct, with the package anything $13.50 or less you will not be charged a gratuity or for the drink itself. Over $13.50 you pay full price for the drink, plus 15% gratuity, minus 20% discount. With no package, it's menu price plus 15% gratuity.
  8. Absolutely this. I'd be happy for them to up the package cost by $5/day if it meant the vast majority of drinks were covered again. It's only logical to adjust the package along with the drinks menu pricing.
  9. Has anyone who sailed recently with the drinks package had any trouble getting their favourite cocktails? It seems like Cunard is slowly but surely pricing everything out of what gets covered. The latest commodore club menu for example doesn't list a single martini under $14.50... I suppose you could order a double shot of gin with a splash of vermouth instead?
  10. Yes, that's how I would envision it. I don't see Cunard tearing out a venue like Illuminations for something like this. Not to mention what a huge undertaking that would be, a multi-deck, sloped theatre isn't as easy to reconfigure.
  11. My suspicion around bright lights potentially coming to QM2 would be that it replaces G32. It would draw in more people over a longer period of time and still maintain functionality as a night club late at night.
  12. A classic shot of our favourite mail carrier in Brooklyn. This was November last year shortly after QM2 was in dry dock.
  13. I'll be sailing on QM2 this fall with the Royal Shakespeare Company. Will they be performing nightly in the royal court theatre or will they mainly be holding daytime events? The last event voyage I was on was with the Greatest Generation foundation and they only held insights style talks in the mornings, I'm wondering if this will be similar.
  14. Has anyone experienced Queen Anne in rough weather yet? I'm interested in joining her maiden TA in January and am curious how she might handle the stormy conditions. I've been on QM2 through a winter Atlantic storm and enjoyed it, how different could QA be? Are Queen Elizabeth and Victoria be a good reference point?
  15. And it's only valid for lunch in Verandah or the less expensive "dinner at the lido" The T&Cs: Subject to availability. You will receive a complimentary lunch at The Verandah restaurant, or an evening meal at Kings Court or The Lido Alternative Dining restaurants. Any other expenses and additional service charge will be charged to your stateroom account. A reservation is required. To use this benefit, restaurant bookings must be made on board.
  16. Does anyone have a copy of an updated list from QM2? The only one I can find online is labelled as 2022. I'd be curious about the by the glass options since I typically buy the drinks package.
  17. I've haven't tried open dining yet, but my thought has been that fixed dining is best for crossings and open would be best for cruises. My thinking is the fixed dining is well timed with the evening entertainment schedule (on purpose I'm sure), but the flexibility of open dining is better when you're in port all day or want to watch the ship depart before dinner. Anyone tried it for both voyages types and agree/disagree?
  18. Shame the Gusbourne sparkling isn't covered anymore, but overall seems like the list of by the glass options has grown since I was last onboard.
  19. Cunard has "exciting news", maybe related to ship setting sail for the first time? https://x.com/cunardline/status/1754127853367533889?s=20
  20. Personally I'd look at deck 11 midship or mid-forward, although be mindful of the pool above you depending on the specific cabin. QM2's design has all the balconies set further in on the ship's sides so they're protected by the super structure. This might obstruct your view somewhat in one direction if you're all the way forward or aft.
  21. This was my experience as well. I never got a receipt for any of my drinks. The sommelier in the Britannia dining room only asked to see my card on the first night and then remembered I had the drinks package. Most bartenders asked to see my card, but usually only for the first drink and sometimes not at all if they remembered me.
  22. This carpet? It's the same one that was there when I sailed last year.
  23. Cunard have posted about the drydock, still nothing specific, but nice to see.
  24. Just came across this thread, are there any videos of Queen Mary 2 during her tandem crossing with QE2? There are some beautiful videos of the QE2 sailing, but next to nothing of the QM2. Here is my favourite of the QE2 from that crossing:
  25. It's too bad they had to move you, but I hope there aren't any public venues out of commission when QM2 sets sail again.
