  1. …. My question was not about taking pictures. That said, people should enjoy the experience however they choose, as long as it’s not overly disruptive to others.
  2. That’s really great video! I don’t usually take pictures while snorkeling but I do like to stop to look at things more closely. My concern about the drift snorkel is that the current keeps moving you along too quickly to enjoy any one section in detail, but your wife seems to have been able to stay in one place for a while to get nice video at least on the 1st pass. Would you say it’s reasonably easy to stop and take in the scenery, or is It all go all the time? Also, is the group kept in a single line or is there room to spread out a bit?
  3. Is there a daily rate or “per bag” or something for first-timers, or is a la carte the only option?
  4. That’s a good suggestion thanks. I’ve contacted VO customer service three times and gotten three different answers (from strict 7:45pm arrival cutoff to “anytime even past midnight”) but contacting the ship directly seems the most reliable.
  5. For anyone who has sailed Viking Ocean in Iceland (may also apply to other places). Since the first night (embarkation) and second day are in Reykjavik, does anyone know what the latest time is we can arrive at the terminal for check-in? Has anyone arrived after 8pm for example, and did you have any issues boarding? We have plans to be out seeing the sights and I don’t want to worry too much about the time, but I also don’t want to be turned away! Thanks!
  6. Probably this is exactly what we would do normally, just for the local experience and tour. I’m not so sure how we’ll feel about it as the last leg of a 20h of travel though! Maybe on the way back to the ferry… 🤔
  7. I asked a similar question in another thread and got helpful responses that disembarking after 7:30pm the night before the official disembarkations is pretty common. The FAQ on the PGC website also says that passengers can disembark any time after the ship arrives in Papeete on the last night (see screenshot). As for the 0-dark-30 fights on disembarkation day, that Air France flight to LA is very consistent and popular, so PG must be pretty used to accommodating it! (Full disclaimer I’m also a first-timer and have never actually done this, just passing along information I’ve gathered!)
  8. No, but it would be nice to try each of the restaurants at least once. Nicer still if it’s not a scramble to do so.
  9. I guess this is the world of big ship cruising……
  10. Sorry don’t know how this got duplicated!
  11. First time on Viking. Is it common for reservations for Manfredis’s and Chef’s Table to be completely booked for all nights all times months before the cruise starts? Currently all options are greyed out even though reservations are allegedly open for my cabin class (and received a notification). Does this mean because I waited a couple days after they opened until I had time to log in that I simply won’t be able to reserve at all (and will miss out), or is there some trick / onboard way to do it? Thanks!

  13. Have people had much luck arranging early check in with the Hilton Mo’orea? A lot of flights arrive early morning so I’d imagine this is a popular thing, but does require availability. Is it usually possible, or usually not available?
  14. One additional question: Is the marina open to acquire snorkeling gear on embarkation day? We will want to take the equipment with us on the first morning.
  15. Another Huahine question: Will the car rental places bring cars to Maro’e where the tender docks are? It’s otherwise a bit of a haul to Fare. Whatsinport.com says that the companies will have cars and scooters at the tender pier but that seems optimistic…
  16. February 2024. In case you can’t tell from my highly specific questions in this forum, I too like to know and arrange things far in advance!
  17. I’ve actually just heard back from them so they presumably still operate, but they were surprised that I was contacting them so many months in advance and said they cannot possibly predict anything that far into the future! 😂🏝️ I clearly need to get into the island mindset!
  18. Does anyone know if Huahine Lagoon is still in business? I haven’t been able to get a response from them. If not, do you know of any other boat rentals sans permis on the island?
  19. Would some of the “regulars” please help me identify the locations where the tenders will dock on the following islands? Nearest landmark/business that I can find on Google maps is fine. I assume this is the same on each itinerary (but if not please do let me know). Thanks! Huahine Bora Bora Raiatea Moorea (I assume the Paul Gaugin pier?)
  20. Thanks this is all very helpful. Agree that missing the bag juggling and early morning wakeup and disembarkation process is a small “price” vs minimizing the return travel time and figuring out how to hang around ppt all day with luggage.
  21. And the enormous desk that lines the entire outer wall! No chance of running out of surface space to put things on.
  22. Subject captures my question. This seems to vary from country to country and cruise line to cruise line. The reason I’m asking is for car rental purposes (Not that a passport is strictly required for car rentals in Iceland, but two forms of ID typically are, and I only have so many photo IDs…).
  23. As long as it’s non-intrusive, we’re ok with most things. If they ever get a DJ —by the pool or anywhere else—we’ll abandon Viking!
