  1. We're still going to go and I'm sure I could make it work if I had to but it's not going to cost me anything to reschedule to a couple of weeks later.
  2. Thanks everybody. I knew there wasn't going to be some magic solution to my problem, I guess I was just looking for moral support. This cruise was to celebrate our 25th anniversary on Feb 12 and my wife's birthday on the 13th so we also have a group of 5 other couples to consider. I could deal with this one if it was just the 2 of us but all things considered, it's easier to rebook. There's one leaving Miami the week before on Escape with the same itinerary, so I think we'll book that one and just celebrate early. I was looking forward to sailing on the Mississippi but I guess that's a good reason to book another one.
  3. I posted this in the New Orleans port forum with no help so, sorry if reposts are not cool but.. We booked a cruise on Getaway out of New Orleans embarking on Feb 9. We booked this months ago and never would have thought to check when and where the Superbowl was being played but it turns out it's being played in NOLA on embarkation day and looks like the stadium is very close to the cruise terminal. Hotels anywhere near NOLA are in the thousands of dollars for 2 days if available at all. We can book something 45 minutes to an hour away for a more reasonable rate but we're not sure 1- what transport options will be that far outside of the city and 2- what sort of nightmare it will be getting to the port. I realize this is a very specific problem but any advice would be appreciated. Should we re-book this for different dates/different port ?
  4. We booked a cruise months ago that embarks from New Orleans and just found out that it embarks on Superbowl Sunday. Hotels in NOLA are in the thousands for 2 nights but we can go outside the city a bit and get something more reasonable. We're wondering what kind of zoo it's going to be getting to the port though. Looks like the stadium is very close to the terminal. Should we re-book this ?
  5. @Sthrngary Thank you for this great resource. I confess to "only" having read the first 20 pages and last 20 pages but I feel like I have a pretty great picture of what to expect on our first Haven cruise coming up on Escape April 24 ! We are newbies to cruising as this is only our 2nd which we booked immediately after our first because we loved it so much.We recognized the value in Haven during our first cruise so I promised DW I would consider booking it for our next one but the prices for Haven were over twice as much as the club balcony that we booked. Over the year that followed, the price consistently dropped to the point where I could upgrade for not a lot more than I originally paid. This would already have been the trip of a lifetime for us so The Haven will be icing on the cake ! Thanks again, and thank you to everybody who took the time to answer questions and express opinions both positive and negative.
  6. Ship - Escape Deck - 8 Stateroom # - 8762 Stateroom Category – Balcony Starboard or Port Side - Starboard Quiet Stateroom? (With comments on problems) – Extremely quiet. Was stateroom a connecting stateroom? - Yes Balcony View - There was a crane directly below us but didn't obstruct the view much. Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal Was wind a problem? - No If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? - Any specific problems with this cabin? - USB port on the right side of the bed was broken. Any other comments? - We found this room to be very quiet, had lots of space and a very good location being close to bars and restaurants. It is very close to District Brewhouse so I was concerned about noise, but the only noise we heard was one of our neighbours constantly letting their door slam loudly.
