I wanted to offset some of the really harsh and, in my opinion unfair, reviews of late.

You are on your way home soon, I think. When's the next cruise?

I hope there is another dry dock, as it would benefit from one.

When I saw duct tape at the Venetian Society reception last evening she wondered why I began a new thread about the current Shadow cruise in Alaska. It occurred to me that it would be better to re-post here and so I have done so:

With some trepidation, caused by recent not very favorable comments here regarding the shape of The Shadow, we boarded in Vancouver last Thursday.

I will post a complete review at the end of our cruise, but after five days we have found the ship to be in darn good condition. Our Suite is spotless and well maintained, with everything in perfect working order.

The public spaces are also generally in good shape, with the exception of some wear and tear in a few of the hallways. Nothing to get exercised about in my opinion.

And, no surprise, the service is outstanding; the food and wine excellent.

Anyone contemplating a cruise on the Shadow should book it and enjoy!

So, now that you have been on The Shadow for a few days, how is her condition? Worn and tired, as some have commented? Hoping not as we are cruising on her in June.

Don't tend to use travel agents as I find dealing directly with most travel companies, including Silversea, more effective. Just me, nothing against agents.

I emailed Silversea Friday first thing and by the end of the day had my reply and the shipboard credit of $500 pp.

Sometimes I feel as if I must be in a a parallel universe to those who find Silversea so lacking in so many ways; in any event, they came through for me. I suspect that they also will for you if you meet the criteria of the Fare Guarantee Programme.
