  1. Does anyone know if it is possible to order from either the main dining room or from Blu while dining in Luminae? Can you have either of them delivered to your suite?
  2. That sounds good, when we went to Alaska in the Haven I had a smoked Sazerac and Old Fashioned, and enjoyed them both.
  3. A couple of potential options: email, iMessage if you have an Apple device, WhatsApp.
  4. We have an upcoming cruise on the Silhouette, we are in the Retreat and would love any color on the bars and drinks. I tend to favor brown liquor, smoky drinks and tiki inspired cocktails, my wife likes cocktails with gin, vodka and sparkling wine/champagne. Any recommendations are appreciated. Are there any overlooked bars or must try’s?
  5. What defines luxury to you? Ship within a ship offers suites, butlers, high levels of service. I don’t have much interest in the traditional luxury lines because I don’t want to be four decades younger than the average cruise and most of the “usual suspects” seem to have an average age hovering somewhere in the seventies.
  6. What outerwear should I pack, we are going to go Sitka, Icy Strait Point, Juneau, Endicott Arm/Dawes Glacier, Ketchikan and Victoria. Our excursions are outdoorsy but not hiking or anything too adventurous, but include Best of Sitka, Mendenhall Glacier and Juneau Tram, Endicott Amr & Glacier Explorer, Whale Watching and the lumberjack show.
  7. Does anyone know the specific model of Nespresso machine used on the Escape? I liked it and I’m looking to buy one.
  8. Has anybody heard if the Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier portion of this trip is cancelled? I heard some September dates had it cancelled.
  9. My wife and I have really enjoyed Norwegian’s Haven, but we aren’t wedded to it. We love cruising in a suite, enjoy the shows/dining options/activities on the “resort-style” ship. We like the ship within a ship and not having to compete for a lounger or space in the pool, having a separate restaurant and bar and priority access/tendering. We are in our early thirties, so much of luxury cruising seems geared towards much older cruisers. How do the other options like MSC Yacht Club, Royal Caribbean’s Royal Suites, Celebrity: The Retreat and Cunard Queen’s Grill stack up? We would be looking to cruise either Western or Southern Caribbean or Alaska next year.
  10. I was interested since it came up in another thread about ordering off menu/menu hacks and secret menus. We are traveling on the Escape in April and the Bliss in August, both times in the Haven. Any advice is appreciated especially for Haven, but MDR too.
  11. Stargazing tends to be poor, I’m an amateur astronomer and the issues you run into are the lights, it’s bright at night on a cruise ship, and stability. Pushing magnification much beyond handheld binoculars is nigh impossible, you’ll get to maybe 10x before the ship’s motion makes it too pronounced.
  12. My wife and I have traveled in the Haven previously, but never availed ourselves to room service. I know it’s complimentary, but that’s the extent of it. Is it limited to the ship’s general room service menu or can we use the Haven’s restaurant? I’ve heard we can request a white table cloth service. Any other tips or pointers?
  13. I am trying to decide between the two, my wife really wants to see downtown Ketchikan and see totem poles. What’s the best way to accomplish that?
  14. Thank you! We have booked it, we are first time Alaska cruisers, any other shore excursions that are must do’s? We are doing the Whale and Marine Mammals cruise in Icy Strait Point, but are less sure about Sitka and Ketchikan. Victoria we may not do anything at all, other than walk about onshore.
  15. Hello, I am going on the Bliss departing August 23, does doing the Tracy Arm Fjord & Glacier Expedition shore excursion preclude doing the Endicott Arm and Dawes Glacier cruising on the Bliss? We are in the Haven in a forward facing penthouse and have access to the horizon lounge if that makes a difference in the calculus. Is this a worthwhile excursion?
