Just travelling back from this cruise. The captain did report these wind speeds. When we left Haugesund he reported the weather was predicted 70mph winds so bumpy but to hold on to the railings. He later came back on and said he had been reported a ‘Michael Fish moment’ and that the wind was now reported 100mph when we were 3 hours out of the port. We were lucky and kept a dry cabin but were in the crows nest when the waves were breaking on the windows. I’m not sure if they managed to dry out all of the cabins and sail with everyone who was hoping for a New Year aboard but we had a safe a lovely time. Always an adventure.

Sailing on 17th to Norway. Less than 2 weeks to go and the speciality dining is still saying ‘coming soon’. Any thoughts on when it might appear as it says it will be available to book 2 weeks before departure and I don’t want to miss the opportunity.

Me too as it’s also a formal night so I am hoping it will be different from anything we have done before. Plus there is snow! What else do you want? A glass of something fizzy perhaps.

BTW the Christmas Aurora Northern Lights is now showing sold out. I’m hoping this means we’ll find out if our offer upgrade was successful very soon. Not bothered if it isn’t. Thank you for all the port information.

Cheers Pete and friend! Any info on location of docking to the towns would be really helpful. Knowing whether we need to rely on shuttle buses or can come and go much more freely would useful, especially in Alta as we are there the longest. There is a trip on our port call in Haugesund for Nordic walking but it had all sold out. However, I found the route of the walk, which is doable independently, but was wondering how far from the town the dock was.

Any advice about Aurora or P&O Christmas cruising warmly welcomed. The only tour we have booked is a Northern Lights one out of Alta.
