  1. Thank you David, most helpful Do you know if our account carries over, including any onboard credit that may be left (our friends have over $1K onboard credit as part of a promotion and may not spend it all on the transatlantic).
  2. Hello, I've booked 2 back to back voyages for December on QM2 - a Southampton to New York transatlantic in QG, followed by the NYC-Caribbean-NYC straight after in Britannia Obstructed View. From my last transatlantic I remember everyone has to get off in NYC and go through immigration. Does anyone know about procedures or have advice please? For instance, all our belongings and luggage. Will the butler transfer our luggage for us to our new stateroom while we are onshore? Is it a full check in all over again in Brooklyn, with a new check in time etc? Does any unused cruise credit transfer over? Are they new accounts or do they combine them? Anything else we should know? To complicate matters further we are travelling with friends doing exactly the same thing. Thank you very much for any information and tips.
  3. Thank you NE John. On looking closer at the photo I am now wondering if it is an optical illusion and they are not actually recessed. Hard to tell.
  4. We've booked a Deck 8 stateroom for a Caribbean voyage but I see that these staterooms appear to be recessed from the decks above presumably due to the lifeboats. Does anyone know if this means they are correspondingly a little shorter? Looking at the deck plans they don't appear to have encroached any further on the interior of the ship than other decks above, but maybe the plans aren't that accurate.
  5. I was on Victoria in September and dressed fully in Black tie etc for Black and White gala night. Later on in the evening maybe around 11pm, I changed into smart jeans and long sleeve shirt and returned to the Yacht club. Big mistake. I felt very out of place even though it was late and wished I had not changed as everyone else was in formal wear still. Lesson learned!
  6. In what way is it noisy Majortom10?
  7. Very interesting and thank you for your thoughts and imagined images. I had wondered about the stage and the inherent trip hazard, so the retractable stage makes sense.
  8. I did a search before I posted, but it showed no relevant threads. Are you confirming that BLS will have a dance floor then? If not, how can it be an equivalent? Edited to add: Cunard seems to suggest it does have some kind of dance floor, although it is confusing as there seems nowhere for it to go from the plans. From their website: Wide-eyed and filled with wonder. When the performances are over and the applause dies down, the music kicks back in and everyone rises to their feet. The floor is yours, and your evening has only just begun.
  9. Yes, I saw Bright Light's Society - but you're right, no dance floor so it isn't at all suitable for dancing/night club. Interesting re the Pavilion Pool area, but again, I question if that is suitable with such a huge space, conservatory style atmosphere and high glass ceilings/no ceiling. Also, on warm nights the noise could be an issue flor late night partying. I just can't believe Cunard have overlooked this. G32 and Yacht club have been heaving on my voyages. What are they thinking?
  10. So pinch me, try as hard as I look at the Queen Anne deck plans, there appears to be no night club. No G32 to roll merrily into from the Queen's Room, no Yacht Club to belt out karaoke and YMCA/John-Travolta-Saturday-Night-Fever the night away. There is a dance floor in the Queen's room, but that's big-band and ballroom in style. It isn't the same. Where, oh where, dear forumites, do we throw our shapes to It's Raining Men, let our hair down and conga ourselves silly to I Would Walk 500 miles now?
  11. I booked a Queen Anne PG short cruise yesterday from Rome to Southampton for next August, paid the deposit and got my booking number with the message that my booking confirmation had been emailed to me. I didn’t receive it. I assumed it was because it was a Sunday and maybe it had to be checked or something, but no dice today either! Always received them straight away for past bookings. Nothing in Spam. I just wondered if anyone knows of this happening or if it is a common occurrence etc?
  12. Yes, you're right, the painting does look slow! (and much needed)
  13. Does anyone know if they are fitting the air bubble making devices under her hull to reduce water drag and improve her efficiency?
  14. Ah, thank you so much for your detailed reply. I had wondered if it was something in addition to the Cunard upgrades.
  15. I am confused, what is 'Plusgrade' please? Many thanks
  16. I noticed the vibrations were very pronounced at the back of the Britannia Restaurant in September. Maybe the propellers are not in pods like on the QM2?
  17. Which is hopefully the case, although beware because sometimes the test has a delayed reaction and you are initially ill but don't test positive until a few days after the onset of symptoms - that is what happened to me, 3 or 4 days if I remember correctly. Anyway I hope that isn't the case for you but it might be worth doing another test.
  18. I was in QG on last December's QM2 transatlantic to New York and I witnessed another passenger kick off big time to the maitre d (I think his name was Osman). She was saying that she should be entitled to a window table, or at least in the sections by the windows (not the area to the right as you enter and walk down the main corridor). The maitre d politely but firmly said that most grades were Q5 or Q6 (like her's) and that they did not get priority for the best tables. She persisted for a good 5 minutes but he stood firm. We were Q5 and were in the windowless section, which was fine. I did ask to move our first table as it was 'end of terrace' by a dividing wall to the service corridor and I didn't want to feel trapped with just one other couple to talk to. This was handled efficiently by Osman. I absolutely loved the QG restaurant and ate there for almost every meal. I even enjoyed dining alone for lunch as my partner skipped lunches. Just recently I booked a Q5 on the Queen Anne for a section of her world cruise. I was surprised to be asked by the Cunard booking agent if I would like a window table in the QG restaurant. I said yes. Looking at the deck plan there is a much higher ratio of window tables on the QA so maybe he could secure it. However I am not holding my breath.
  19. Hope the party went well, you are looking pensive!
  20. I believe their opening hours are extended too on embarkation
