1. I agree. It is a great price. I've needed a little "cruise fix" and this may do it. Even with the single supplement, it is only $259 for the hump balcony including all taxes and port fees. Confusing, though. If memory serves me correctly, this was scheduled and then cancelled due to Freedom's dry-dock in January. Now it is back. Is that because they took care of problems that they were planning to address in dry-dock considering the itinerary change a couple of weeks back when they fixed the propulsion problem in Nassau? Just curious.

I still have put a 24 hour courtesy hold, however.

  2. I saw the menu, thanks but is it a buffet where you get your own food other than asking for a sandwich?

Where were the Pannini's and the roast beef sandwich on the menu?

Roast Beef and Paninis were not on the menu but they were there every day. The roast beef was carved to order and the paninis were in the cold chest with a variety of our sandwiches (and there were a few different kinds), fruit, etc. They even had Chihuahua Quesadillas the first day (and NO...I did not try them). LOL

  3. I have also ordered them many times and they were great. However, I would personally order them by phone rather than online. Once when we got to the room, the flowers were not anything like what I had ordered (that was when they still had the flower cart and the corrected the problem promptly). Another time, they could not find the order when I called to check. Just to be on the safe side, I would call. I will say that, like others have posted, the flowers do keep for an entire week and still look beautiful when you depart the ship. Too bad they can't be taken off.

  4. So if they took away the pool and theater and added in cabins you would be OK with that.

Seriously??? Apples and Oranges, my friend. If you really think that is the same thing, then you are not playing with a full deck. You are told and shown on the website as well as other publications that amenities such as pools and the theater will be part of your cruising experience. It says nothing about secret balconies.

  5. RCI designed the ship. Don't make it sound like we were taking advantage of the company by finding and utilizing the areas.

I beg your pardon, but I did NOT say anything of the kind. People were taking advantage of something that was available. No problem with that. It was not promised when they booked their cabin, but it was something they had learned they could use. If RCI can generate extra income by utilizing this area, can you blame them??? Try not to be so sensitive. Not everything is about you. It was simply a statement and an opinion which is what these boards are for.

  6. Hi We had a great time. Seeing Old friends in the 5-8 daily get together was great. Seeing Desmond back upstairs was great. The food this time was just fair. However the Lamb (i think is their best item) was great. The steaks were on okay this time. The Windjammer was chaos as usual. Park Grill awesome. I always eat breakfast in the Diamond and above area and it is awesome as always. The crew in the dining rooms need to stop people in shorts and tee shirts from entering at anytime. This was my 5th cruise in the EOS and I am going again in a few days. I hope to see some of you on there then for my birthday,

See you then, neighbor. I'll be doing B2B on her for the 09/19 and 09/22 cruises.

  7. Ahoy Merion Mom

We just sailed the Enchantment the last week of August in a inside cabin 4763.

We did not have a refrigerator. Sydney our cabin steward brought us extra ice buckets for our soda, milk cartons and water.

Our friends requested a refrigerator on deck 4, and they delivered it right away.

The Enchantment rates look good again for an inside cabin with $119 for Sept 15th and $139 for Sept 22nd sailing. Both dates are for their four days cruise.

    Dorothy

I'll be there on the 22nd! Also the 19th. We have a D1 in the added cabins when she was stretched. I think it has a 'fridge and the star trek type transporter showers rather than the curtains. I'll confirm after I sail.

  8. Per Adam Goldstein, on an annual basis they were throwing away approximately 35,000 pounds (17.5 tons!) of chocolate covered by 780,000 square feet of foil. And even though we have some fond memories of how the cabin stewards were placing them out for our daughters, I can agree completely with the decision. JMHO!

Like! If you want chocolates, bring them. Like there isn't enough to eat already???? :D

  9. Yep, certainly is if you buy a drinks package. Only coupons we ever got use out of were the match play.

So for a few $5 match plays you complain about the whole system? For those of us who won't be drinking $60 or more per day worth of alcohol, the coupons are still far from worthless. A free picture is nice as well. Though not important to me, some really like the Bingo coupons. Do you really expect them to poll EVERY passenger to see which coupons they will be using? I think they did the best they could.

It is also very possible that doing away with the match plays could have been a decision of the casino (a vendor) rather than Royal. And like some others have already said, had some people not tried to take advantage by selling the coupon books on ebay or saving them for future cruises, they might still be using the coupon books today. However...times change and many things are now paperless. I send more emails than mail, I use the computer or cell phone for telephone numbers (I don't even own a phone book), and I pay most of my bills online. Why shouldn't RCI keep up with the times as well???

Why do we always hear about something they took away and hardly ever hear about something they do to enhance the cruising experience? It's a shame, really.

  10. It's stupid. I don't want to eat at 5 PM or 7PM or whatever time when on a cruise. I don't wear a watch and don't give a hoot what time I eat. I like to eat when I feel hungry. People ruin everything, cruising, vacation, even going up in the mountains to relax with watches and computers. This will be my 1st and only time on RCL.

I hope you at least pay enough attention to time to know when to get on the ship at the ports. :p

  11. I have to say I had this milk on the Freedom and had no problem with it at all. Unlike what the OP posted, this is, indeed, REAL milk. The taste was fine. I was drinking the whole milk rather than the low fat so maybe that makes a difference. I drink milk daily and, to me, the taste was very good. Yes, there was a slight difference in taste due to the Maillard reaction, but it was, by no means, bad. Of course...tastes are subjective depending on the individual..

However, I have also gotten milk in the Windjammer that has soured and have heard of many cases where someone is complaining because the milk they took back to their cabin went bad because the "refrigerator" did not keep it cool enough. I would MUCH rather have the UHT milk than taking a big swig of soured.

Sometimes...I think a lot of it is in the mind rather than the taste buds.

As for being fleet-wide, I had it on freedom but did not have it on Radiance about 6 months later. So...I suppose you just have to take a chance.

  12. The no smoke ban went into effect 1/1/14 and they(Royal) cancelled the "no smoking" in the casino on formal nights and allowed smoking in the casino at all times, at least 6 months or more, prior to that date. It did not coincide with the ban on 1/1/14.

I cruised on Radiance in October of 2013 and there were, indeed, still non-smoking formal nights. Perhaps they phased getting rid of these nights one ship at a time.

  13.
There could also be another reason RCI are not allowing e-cigs is the danger of them exploding whilst being recharged and so the potential for starting fires.

A close friend of mine was luckily in the room when hers exploded whilst being recharged and so was able to prevent the home furnishings from catching fire, although she now needs new carpeting and redecoration of the damaged wall.
Cell phones and batteries also have been known to explode. I guess the ships will ban those as well? Hope you're doing well, Peter. Congrats on the 4 years!!!
  14. I saw these many times on the Eclipse in November. I assumed they were allowed since they were prominent. My question is why do people have them lit and take drags in them continually -much more than a regular cigarette?

In answer to your question, they are not "lit". They are electonic and always on. All youhave to do to activate it is to draw on it.

As for your statement about continually drawing on them, you seem to be painting a picture with a broad brush. That's like me asking why does everyone guzzle a beer in one gulp. The answer is that they don't. Some do, but most do not.

I, for one, used the e-cig to quit smoking. I would take a couple of hits every few hours. As a matter of fact...when I finally stopped there was no nicotine at all (they are available in different strengths) and all it was supporting was the habit.

Seems like these days no matter what you do to try to make someone happy, you just can't. You would think that non-smokers would appreciate a smoker's efforts to quit the habit but, instead, they find something else to *itch about. I guess some people just can't be pleased. Very sad that some would rather complain and ridicule than try to help and appreciate a person's efforts.

  15. I sent an email to the corporate office and had a very nice phone call from Royal. She also sent me answers to my questions and gave me permission to post them. FWIW-I'm still disappointed but getting over it. The only change to the new policy I would still lobby for is to allow e-cigs on the balcony. Maybe down the road.

    Q. Will there be expanded, reasonably located, smoking areas on the pool deck?

    A. Each ship will have, or has, at least one smoking area on the starboard side of the Pool Deck that will enjoy enhancements based on the feedback of our smoking guests.

    Q. Will they be covered in case it’s raining?

    A. The majority of exterior smoking areas onboard are covered.

    Q. Will there be more tables and comfortable chairs?

    A. Yes, we are already working to re-configure the smoking areas based on guest feedback, including evaluating and replacing the furnishings.

    Q. Will there be small tables located by the chairs so we have a place for coffee and drinks?

    A. You will be pleased to know that small coffee tables are part of the enhancement plan.

    Q. Will there be heavy ash trays on the tables instead of the heavy floor ones that are difficult to move?

    A. Ashtrays are obviously an important component of any smoking area. We have already ordered taller, upright ashtrays that should be easier to maneuver, and will also be adding ashtrays for the new coffee tables.

    Q. Coffee!!! Will it be located close to the smoking sections?

    A. Coffee stations at smoking areas are not in our plans at this time.

    Q. What will Royal do when the outside smoking areas are closed due to weather?

    A. It is rare that all outdoor smoking areas would be closed at any time. If it does happen, it should be a temporary situation, and indoor smoking areas can be used during this time.

    Q. Will the Connoisseur Club be expanded on the Voyager and Freedom class ships? Will additional seating be added?

    A. There are no plans to expand the Connoisseur Clubs at this time.

    Q. One of our cruises is on the Quantum, is there any indication about a Connoisseur Club on that class of ship?

    A. Quantum of the Seas will not feature a Connoisseur Club, however, it will have exterior smoking areas with all the new furnishing and ashtrays.

I also did confirm that smoking will be allowed at the casino only during operating hours. No slipping down there at 6am for a smoke.

Thank you for the information. I appreciate your checking this out. Like you, I hope they will re-think the e-cig rule. So many of us have used these to quit and it is a shame to ban something that has helped so many quit the habit. Kinda like banning patches or gum. Again...thanks for your post!

  16. Good info here. Hope someone can help with 7034 on the Brilliance, I know about some noise from Deck 6, but my question "does this cabin along with 7014 thru 7044 have larger balconies". I've tried searching, nothing. Any help would be appreciated.

I have stayed in a deck 7 balcony on Radiance and the balconies you specified are, indeed, larger than a normal balcony. It was about twice as deep and had room for two loungers and two chaires. The only thing some people don't like is that the dividers that seperate your next door neighbors do not go all the way to the rail. There is about 2 feet or so where it is just a waist-high rail that seperates you from your neighbors. So, it is easy for someone to peer around the partition and see inside your cabin. However, that did not bother me at all and I really appreciated having the extra balcony space.
