  1. Waited for over 10 minutes for the "reveal" to being. Facebook then posted "start time for live feed has past" and video shut down. Still don't know what the reveal was. Now I have the "opportunity" to get up at 4am tomorrow for a live webinar.....think I will probably pass. Would have loved to have seen what they are revealing now.

  2. You've gotten a lot of really good responses and suggestions here. We have traveled to Alaska in May several times. It is typically the driest month, but can be a tad chilly....maybe 50's and 60's. Seattle is a very easy port to sail from. Vancouver is also easy, but airfare will be much higher. That being said, you have a chance of sailing further north than the RT Seattle cruises. IF you can do the 14 day Holland America cruise, I highly recommend that one! It was one of our favorite Alaska cruises....you get to ports that other lines don't visit. I have several posts on my travel blog about Alaska. You can view them at www.zest4travel.wordpress.com I have also included a packing list.

  3. Years ago, we had a husky. She preferred to live outdoors and would run like none other! Such a high energy dog. She would have been miserable living inside all the time and not being able to run. Go enjoy the tour....the owners take extremely good care of those dogs.

  4. Whale watching is a wonderful choice. We have done this in Juneau and Victoria. Saw humpbacks in Juneau and orcas out of Victoria. Lots of whales in both locations. Haven't done dog sledding yet...sounds like fun. I write a travel blog...http://www.zest4travel.wordpress.com I have posted reviews of Alaska ports, plus the glaciers. I have also included a packing list. Maybe you can get some more ideas there.

Hope you have a wonderful honeymoon and congratulations on your upcoming wedding!

  5. This is part of the reason I started my travel blog...http://www.zest4travel.wordpress.com. Educating and informing people of the options available in different ports if so important. And the differences between the glaciers. Not everyone are big planners though. I have a friend who admits to being a "joiner", not the planner. She has no idea which ship or line they are traveling on....lets someone else handle the details. But at least SOMEONE is handling the details! :)

  6. I have several posts on my travel blog...http://www.zest4travel.wordpress.com...on the different ports and glaciers in Alaska. There is also a packing list. I have been on 10 Alaska cruises and will sail again this summer. Alaska is amazing...we obviously love it! Hope you find some helpful information and have a wonderful cruise. :) :ship:

  7. According to a different post on this board (question about transpacific cruise)...VISAs are not required. Rules for St. Petersburg do not apply. However, they did say that there is not much to do in the city and that customs took a long time. They highly recommended a private company.... http://www.kamchatintour.ru

  8. Agree with several of the posts. We have sailed several different lines and ships to Alaska. It really depends on the crew of your ship. Several times we have had no problem taking wine/beer onboard while in port...other times, they wanted to keep it till disembarkation. Just depends on who is working security when you reboard. Good luck!

  9. For some ideas on the different ports and a review of the glaciers, please visit my blog....http://www.zest4travel.wordpress.com I have been on 10 Alaska cruises and will be doing our 11th this summer. I have a lot of information on Alaska available there. You will also find a packing list. Hope you have a wonderful cruise. Alaska is our favorite destination.

  10. Ketchikan is very easy to walk around and see the Creek Street with salmon (when they are running), some totem poles, the fishery and the town. The larger salmon run there is late July and early August. I have a post on Ketchikan here: https://zest4travel.wordpress.com/2017/02/23/fun-in-ketchikan/

We have only paid for two excursions here....a zipline (which was ok, but Juneau was better in my opinion) and the Lumberjack show. The other 8 visits there, we did it on our own.

  11. Celebrity actually requires you to carry it on. I know that many people have put it in their checked luggage, but I also know of many people who then had to retrieve their luggage from security onboard after sailing. Why not just carry it on and not take the chance of your bag going missing? Not a fun way to start your vacation.

  12. Per website: *Prices are per person, cruise only, for stateroom category 12 or Z. Military Savings Offer applies to select 4-night and longer sailings departing July 1, 2017 – April 30, 2019. Offer excludes Galapagos. At least one guest in the stateroom must be an active or retired member of the United States or Canada Military. A valid U.S. or Canadian military ID must be presented at the pier to validate eligibility. If eligibility cannot be validated, you will be charged the current standard cruise fare or otherwise be denied boarding.

  13. Here is a link to a pros/cons of the different glaciers in Alaska. This site also has posts about the various ports and a packing list. Whichever cruise you choose, you will have a great time. Alaska is amazing. If you don't want a lot of kids, Holland America or Celebrity are your best choices. There will still be kids, but not as many as NCL or Princess....last time we sailed Princess to Alaska, I got run over by strollers!
