Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. In our room on the Royal (interior cabin) there was one on the ceiling light between the bathroom and closet (picture) and one each at the base of the bedside tables to provide light when you step out of bed – but those floor sensors were too sensitive and it would light up even if you hung your foot over the edge of the bed. The only one that takes some thinking to block is the ceiling sensor, though. You can easily block the floor sensors with a shoe, pillow, etc. If you want some light at night, you could either put a night light in the bathroom, or just leave the bathroom light on with the door closed – some light leaks out around the edges, but nothing too bright.
  2. Sounds like you're thinking of the floor lights on the nightstands. The one I blocked with paper was a ceiling light near the bathroom. But you can block the floor light sensor by just putting a shoe in front of it. I found it to be too sensitive, as well.
  3. The ones on the night stand weren't so bad, except... It would click on if I even stuck my foot off the edge of the bed a bit. I wound up putting a shoe in front of it to block it. If it only triggered when my feet were near the floor, it would have been useful, though it could have also been a bit dimmer.
  4. Correct, and you can also stick your finger in the end of the paper “tube” and the light will come on.
  5. Never really needed to, but I tested it by sticking my finger in the end of the paper “tube” and the light came on. But the bathroom and entryway lights, combined with our iPhone flashlights were plenty.
  6. Yeah, good call. We were unprepared since we hadn’t cruised in years (and never with Princess) and I didn’t have any tape with me… So it was either be creative or get (repeatedly) annoyed.
  7. Just back from an Alaska roundtrip out of Seattle on the Royal Princess. Fun was had by all, but… That light. You know the one, the ceiling light near the bathroom that comes on when it detects the slightest bit of motion. I called the service desk and was told (as others here have reported) that’s it’s a safety feature and cannot be turned off. I know that some have said they got the cabin steward to cover it with duct tape, but I didn’t want to ask him override a “safety” device if I could avoid it b/c I didn’t want to put him in a bad spot. So here (pictured) is my solution. I just took a small piece of paper that came with all the other stuff they gave us on day one and secured it around the motion sensor by slipping it into the cracks. Problem solved.
  8. I didn't realize this was possible on the web... The website directs you to the app for stuff like food reservations. What am I missing? I'd much prefer that. Update: Answering my own question... There a link to the web version directly under the buttons for the Apple App Store and the Google Play Store. Thanks for the suggestion!
  9. Quick update: It must have been a glitch. I checked again this evening and was able to book both Crown Grill and Sabatini's. Thanks for the replies!
  10. Hi all. New to Princess. My wife and I will be on the Royal Princess Alaskan cruise out of SEA on Aug 26th. In attempting to book speciality dining options, the only thing that comes up Sabatini’s. I’ve checked every night of the cruise and it’s the same situation… Sabatini’s is the only option. Does anyone know what’s going on with this? Are they really only running one speciality restaurant on this cruise? Am I doing something wrong? Thanks.
