  1. OH somestimes says his dress shirts aren't perfect, then I tell him they are better than either of us would manage. I noticed in October that smell of fabric conditioner was more pronounced than before. That wouldn't bother most people but I'm allergic to perfume.
  2. My guess would be that it took that long to analyse the data from the incident in Biscay & code & test the fix. My imagination is now running riot as to how one would set up the test environment.
  3. I saw how close you were on cruise mapper & hoped someone would post that they'd seen the sister ship. Not been to Gunwharf Quays but the Naval Dockyard is well worth a visit or 2.
  4. I'm so sorry you were in that terrible storm. Thank you for your insight & such positivity about Saga after such an event. Although I'm a #Gold I'm not sure how I would feel about another cruise after that storm.
  5. It really annoys me when people are awful to the crew. They work so hard. They are away from home for 3 to 9 months at a time. We always treat them with respect & as a result we get exceptional service from them. (Actually they give exceptional service to everyone).
  6. I did succumb to a snack in the Living Room when I had had an early continental breakfast for an early tour. Ice cream can always be forgiven.
  7. It's when they start queueing for lunch at 11:30 I get surprised. We only eat breakfast & dinner so dine early because we are starving by 6:30.
  8. Seems a really nice guy. He came to chat to us, when he was in the Entertainment team, on a foimal night. Then he was ACD on our last cruise.
  9. Would that be the ACD that reminds me of the Go Compare adverts?
  10. All our cruises on Discovery got cancelled. We did 2 on Adventure this year which were also on Discovery's itineraries SoA won because we preferred the dates, April & October rather than May & September. Glad we chose SoA as the Med would have been way too hot for us in Sept.
  11. The long cruises are unlikely to have many working guests. Most companies don't allow a month off in one go. Although on Silversea Americans & Australians were working from the ship. Our first Saga cruise was to the Baltic with overnight in St Petersburg. Maybe it was the trip to the ballet there that attracted all the over 80s.
  12. Must be the time of year or something. The Christmas cruises we've been on have always had plenty guests in their 90s. I was 50 when I went on Saga Rose, there was one guest younger than me, with his wife & her elderly Aunt. Most of the guests on that cruise had children in their 50s so it was like being with our parents.
  13. The report on the Saga Rose fatality in 2008 shows how dangerous routine tasks on a ship can be. So tragic.
  14. That is a fabulous upgrade. People tend to dislike upgrades that move them from midship but you have the opposite. Enjoy your cruise.
  15. You've got our favourite Captain. Never sailed with any of the others as far as I remember. Have a great cruise. Don't think Storm Debi will send you to Falmouth but who knows what will happen at this time of year.
  16. So many sea days. Is the rum distillery one of the tours? I really hope the remainder of you cruise is perfect.
  17. Lisbon is beautiful so I hope you all enjoy tomorrow's tours. So sorry you are stuck there on your way to the Caribbean. Think it may be more usual than unusual with Saga because they sail from the UK.
  18. Ask them to offer everyone the vintage tram & port tasting excursion as a freebie. It was very good when we went on it in April.
  19. Any news on when you will leave Lisbon? CruiseMapper is showing you still there.
  20. Lovely to read. Lisbon seems to be very important for crew & entertainer joining/leaving. We watched them all coming & going last month. Knew there was some important reason we still docked there at 3pm so kept a look out.
  21. Various crew on SoA's inaugral cruise told us about their fantastic treatment in the run up to that cruise including hotels in Dubai. On the Xmas cruise they were still telling us about it & the awful 'goings on' on a ships owned by possibly the biggest group. Let's hope that SAGA are continuing what they were doing back then. They have a very loyal crew who deserve the best. I also hope that anyone with more than bruises is getting more than a free cruise. For the record I still have several bruises from the 'rough' seas SoA encountered at the end of last month. It's just me bruising easily & my lack of balance. Never been able to ride a bike.
  22. We were on Adventure on NYE 2021 & were not allowed off. People on SoD were allowed off because they had been in the Canaries for a week. Love the idea of tomorrow's meet up & visits between the ships.
  23. They are people really in the know. I wonder if Saga will lose any of their loyal crew because of this. We've met several who have worked for them since Saga Rose, over 20 years ago.
  24. True. but on Adventure last month they stayed tied up till the end of the cruise after we were through the bad weather. I have always found Saga captains to be very honest about the forecast. Coming back from Canada on Sapphire in Oct 2018 we were informed about all the route changes to avoid the worst of Hurricane Michael. We were still in force 9 & 10 for 3 days though. On Silver Wind in June 2017 the captain didn't inform us of overnight bad weather and therefore a lot of people got very sick overnight. They were very unhappy with him the next day as a warning would have given them the chance to take medication.
