  1. Good news! The Columbia River Pilots Dispatch Status chart changed Panorama’s tentative departure from December 31st to December 11th today. Things are definitely looking up!
  2. I haven’t seen any additional pics of the repair so far but I did read on the Ship Report page that the Panorama is tentatively scheduled to depart Portland on the 12th with the emphasis on tentative. I believe the person that made the comment works at the dock. Also there have been comments on social media that I thought maybe you could comment on. We are all following along and sharing any info we get but don’t have the expertise to evaluate the repair situation. If it is correct they are redesigning the azipods so they can be repaired without a dry dock that would be great news for all the Vista Class ships: "The 'culprit' is actually inside the hull. The bearing on the vertical shaft that allows the Azipod to rotate for steering overheats from vibration at normal cruising speed. Current design requires removal of the pod to service the bearing. Modified design will allow the bearing to be replaced from inside the hull while in port." Or in plane English.... As someone else said: "This will be repair only (just bearing replacement). All new redesigned Azipods will be installed during the Oct 2024 Singapore dry dock."
  3. No, only the Miracle passengers park off site, you will be able to park in the terminal garage.
  4. Here are some gorgeous pics of Panorama posted on the Ship Report Facebook page. She is a beauty even in dry dock.
  5. Thank you so much for the input. I was hoping you would comment on the pics as obviously I don’t know what they suggest other than the repair has started. The Portland dry dock pics are coming from one of my fellow passengers on the upcoming NYE cruise and are posted in our Facebook group. I think she will keep posting them as the repairs progress and I will post them here so you can evaluate the progress being made for us. To say Carnival has not been sharing much information is an understatement but John Heald did say on Saturday the Holiday cruises were happening without the qualification of still scheduled at this time. I hope he know what he’s talking about! 🤞🤞🤞 I’m sure all of us hoping we sail really appreciate your input, thanks again!
  6. Me! We have a group of 10 celebrating my hubby’s 70th, can’t wait! 🤞🤞🤞
  7. Me! We have a group of 10 celebrating my hubby’s 70th, can’t wait! 🤞🤞🤞
  8. Thank you chengkp75 for sharing your expertise! Hopefully there are no surprises, things seem to look really good for my New Years cruise but it will remain a question until she is heading South with her funnel intact. 🤞🤞🤞 More pictures were posted today, evidentially one of my fellow cruisers is on the ground in Portland.
  9. Wow, she is already out of the water! It’s looking better every day for the Holiday cruises.
  10. I checked and the posts said St Helens and Kalama. I am not sure about the one that shows Panorama approaching a bridge, that was from a video on John Heald’s Facebook page. The video was really cool!
  11. She made it safely to Portland and according to John Heald Christmas will be celebrated on board, yay! Here are some shots of the Panorama sailing up the Columbia River, not something anyone excepted for her to do. I think Carnival deserves some recognition for getting it done.
  12. The Panorama is in the Columbia River and everything seems to be going well. The pic is downtown Astoria as she passed before dawn this morning, you can see her stubby tail. The Ship Report Facebook page posted a video of her passing under the first bridge she couldn’t pass under before removing her whale tail. It’s amazing but I couldn’t find a way to post it here.
  13. Wine pairings every course would be excellent! My friend and I both have drinks everywhere from the casino though so maybe it’s not that big a deal for us. I never thought about it but we could go to the steakhouse and get the top wine recommended for every course. Just saved over $100 each! 😜
  14. I think probably that’s true and I think they have had some much needed time off also. There were reports of some of the crew out and about and exploring Astoria and Victoria and they are probably excited to see Portland too. The cruise director is doing a 14 Panama Canal cruise now that he was excited about, I think he’s on Legend. I’m just excited our chances of sailing seem to get better every day! 🤞🤞🤞
  15. The Panorama is on the move again and will hopefully be safely in the Portland dry dock by mid day tomorrow. This latest report is from the Ship Report, I will include a link that hopefully works and you can listen to her latest podcast if you like. I have been following her since the Panorama arrived in Astoria, it’s very interesting and she has good info on what is happening with our ship. https://shipreport.net/2023/12/01/the-carnival-panoramas-columbia-river-return/?fbclid=IwAR00qxQclbZdj_iMmEp76WZ1gIDCoPd8n4OeDJjm3au_3uC6p6m2bhrIzzo_aem_AaS0bcqLRGZE0WKJXn5nJedo_Zf4E_7T2iXveLctlrePD6WOemn5GuhhSZUMnxIW2rY
  16. Besides the NYE cruise I will be on Panorama in February with a girlfriend and I think we might do it. It seems more doable if you only have to pay for one, lol! We did the Chefs Table on the Radiance in May, it was her first cruise. She loved the cruise but we were both a little disappointed in the Chefs Table, it wasn’t bad, maybe our expectations were too high. 🤷‍♀️ My friend is a foodie and appreciates good wine and the wine definitely missed the mark. It would be worth paying 50% more if the experience is 50% better.
  17. From John Heald’s Facebook page this morning. According to the Marine Traffic website the Panorama is still in Victoria but it is not scheduled to arrive in Portland (not Astoria) until 4 PM tomorrow so still plenty of time to get there on schedule. The best news is that the whale tail has been removed successfully and the Holiday cruises are expected to sail, yay!
  18. If you follow through to purchase they add gratuity, it is $354 for a couple. If they are upgrading the food and wine they should have promoted it first. I didn’t purchase, just wanted to see the total cost. Edited to add I am on Panorama also so would get the upgraded experience but I would definitely need specific details and it would have to be very impressive to warrant spending $354.
  19. Thank you so much for the pics adoris! Her route and arrival in Portland on Saturday has showed up on the Marine traffic website. There are also posts on the Panorama Facebook page say she will leave Victoria at 10 PM tonight. I hope they are correct! 🤞🤞🤞
  20. Absolutely gorgeous pic, thank you! ❤️🛳️❤️ I hear they may be removing the whale tail tomorrow and I see in your pic the giant crane is in place and ready. 🤞🤞🤞
  21. I received 50, probably because I have 13 cruises booked in 2024. They all went in the trash file.
  22. Oh my, that is even worse than our experience debarking after the 14 day to Alaska in September which was a two hour ordeal. I cannot understand why you would have to park offsite while the Panorama is out of commission. 🤷‍♀️ We also did the 5 day on Miracle the first week of November and it went much better but was still a PITA, enough that we have decided we won’t sail on her again. I am sorry you had to go through all that but glad you could let it go and enjoy your cruise!
  23. Most of the updates come from our administrator, he is doing a great job of keeping us all informed. If we were relying on Carnival for info we would remain lost at sea, lol! So I will see you onboard, we are also doing a B2B, can’t wait!
  24. Brand new update from the Facebook group for the New Years cruise.
