Cool Cruiser

Cool Cruiser (2/15)

  1. A few others: 1. Do you feel a railing on cabin verandah is overrated? 2. Would you pay a premium for a certified life preserver? 3. Would you be wiling to pay more to use the elevator vs stairs?
  2. I have not heard any specifics from industry professionals but agree that the new price structure resembles other luxury cruise lines that are even more inclusive than SB. We also looked at two similar itineraries on Regent recently. I used Regent air credit pricing for the comparison. One was almost the identical price of SB while the second was less than SB. Was quite surprised. And, as you point out, other luxury cruise lines include excursions. Last week we booked the lengthier (just shy of 2 months long) cruise we had been researching since December. Didn't choose SB but we are thrilled with what our TA found both Itinerary and price wise. We'll look at SB for other cruises down the road, just not now.
  3. QuestionEverything - Thanks for posting this thread. I too have been following that one. Great feedback by posters on cities/towns to visit. Much appreciated! As we do both land and cruise trips, depending on what we are looking for on a specific trip, this thread is very helpful for British Isles. Having us ponder BI land trip in 2025 πŸ˜€.
  4. I will offer one suggestion, if you are comfortable doing so. Along with day trips, we often take side trips for a night or two out of a main hub. We will leave our large bag(s) with hub hotel bellman (which are locked up) for a few days and take just a carry-on/backpack with essentials for the days we are away. Real easy to do if you are returning to same hotel for a night, but I have also returned to hub hotel to simply pick up the bag before taking a train out of hub city to our next destination. Very easy to do if hotel is close to train station. Knock on wood, after 64 countries, I have not yet had one issue, damage or a stolen items from the bag. I do lock them, but still. I also do not leave valuables in the checked bag.
  5. We are also considering Oceania for a different trip. Have not cruised with them yet. I know they are not in the same category as SB, Regent, or SS, but have friends that swear by Oceania and prices look pretty darn good as do their ships and some of the itineraries. My concern is the amount of negative comments about Oceania on Cruise Critic, but I am willing to trust our friends' opinions ... I think lol.
  6. The continued SB increases opened the door for us to consider other lines. Not so much an issue of cost (although it is something we consider when planning all our trips) but rather the question and impression it has left in our minds of what seemed to be daily prices increases, and not just by a couple hundred dollars. Although we really enjoy SB, TA highly encouraged us to consider Regent. Hadn't planned to but broke down. Glad we did. Found a very enticing price on itinerary of interest.
  7. It has made entertaining this next cruise on Seabourn very challenging as the price differential within a couple days was quite drastic. I researched and then reviewed with my better half. When I went to book a couple days later, price has jumped enough for us to consider alternatives. The same itinerary has increased even more in the past week.
  8. I have noticed the same. Been looking at a few AUS/NZ and S. Asia itineraries and within a matter of days I noticed as much as a 10% increase. Some days the increase was only a few hundred dollars. Have not seen pricing decrease, but may have missed that day 😟. As I have been researching since mid-January, I can say the pricing fluctuations started to occur before March 1. I too started taking as I thought I was losing my mind. Wasn't me.
  9. Really lovely video! Truly enjoyed, especially how you captured the lovely scenery and real life of the port. Thanks for sharing.
  10. Was on Sojourn in November. We brought our own masks. They had tons of masks, snorkels and fins. Saw Cressi and Mares gear on tables for guests to use. Only problem was I could never find fins that fit my women’s size 8 feet 😞
