Burial at Sea on the Discovey
rustysunshine replied to coloradocruisers101's topic in Princess Cruises
Thank you so much for sharing this, as I've been curious about the process. Wishing you peace ❤️ -
My husband's birthday happens to be the same day as our wedding anniversary. I put both occasions into the app before our last sailing. At the end of the Chef's table dinner we did, the staff brought out the desserts, then took coffee orders...we were all absolutely stuffed...AND THEN, they proceeded to bring out small chocolate cakes for all of us at the table who were celebrating a special occasion during the cruise. So my husband and I, already at critical mass, had our desserts, coffees, and TWO chocolate cakes in front of us 😂 Lesson learned!

We were staying on the same deck on that same cruise, and there were definitely some attention-getting decorations on the starboard side hallways. Balloons, tinsel curtains, etc. I'm pretty sure they stayed up the whole time.

It is! We've sailed on Royal Princess and Regal Princess within the last nine months, and they have Lavazza coffee on both ships ☕

Alaska in June on Princess. Best stop & best tour to see eagle?
rustysunshine replied to TheArtfulPenguin's topic in Alaska
They discussed this when we did our tour last June. There is an arrangement in place between the operators of the Deadliest Catch tour and the First Nations people who inhabit the area. The eagle feedings are seen as a benefit to the eagle population there. I came away from the tour feeling that Captain David and his crew have a deep respect for both the local ecosystem and the native people. -
Thank you! 🌞

Alaska in June on Princess. Best stop & best tour to see eagle?

Can confirm that the Deadliest Catch tour in Ketchikan offers great opportunities for seeing the eagles up close 🙂 -
Can you tell me if this one tends to leave a pale/whitish cast on your face, especially in photos? I *do* very much like the Sun Bum body sunscreens, but I can't stand it when my face looks like I've seen a ghost in my vacation pictures 😂

We had two bags in our cabin on embarkation day on Regal Princess, Sunday 2/25 🙂

I'm a "sunscreen every day" person, and my go to for my face is Supergoop Unseen Sunscreen. It has a nice velvety texture, and acts almost like a primer, because it dries semi-matte. It also doesn't really run or bother my eyes, if my face does get sweaty. I love it!

Alaska in July is there a mosquito problem?
rustysunshine replied to traveling psych nurse's topic in Princess Cruises
I did an Alaska cruise during the last week of June 2023, and I was worried about this problem. I am THAT PERSON...mosquitoes consider me a delicacy! They're the bane of my existence during the summer. If there is one stupid mosquito, it's going to find me. I got pretty lucky, though - in both Juneau and Ketchikan, the weather was cool, with heavy drizzle to light rain, which kept the flying bugs at bay. Skagway was sunny - in port/town, before our helicopter excursion, there were mosquitoes and other bugs flying about - but not many, and I was prepared with mosquito repellent. I expect it would be worse with warmer weather, or if you are further inland. -
June cruise to Alaska - what clothes will I need
rustysunshine replied to masonchar's topic in Cruise Fashions & Beauty
Adding to this - if you're anywhere near a Kohl's, I stopped in yesterday...there were plenty of winter coats and sweaters already marked down (as if winter is already done here in Colorado 😂) Some very nice lighter weight and waterproof jackets were included in the selection, perfect for Alaskan cruises! -
Yes, it happened on our cruise on Royal Princess in late June of last year (though the stated reason at that time was that there was a yacht in distress in the area, delaying our arrival - nobody was upset). We didn't want to disembark for a mere couple of hours, but we were treated to a great view of some Canada Day fireworks, which we enjoyed from the back of the Lido deck with some champagne!

June cruise to Alaska - what clothes will I need

I packed for a seven night Alaska cruise in a carry-on. It was QUITE a tight fit, but I managed. Keep checking the forecast as the date approaches, but your planning/shopping should definitely assume that your itinerary could include cool weather and/or rain. Think thin layers and comfort! Here's what I brought AND ACTUALLY WORE: - leggings, all black (one pair of Fabletics, one "nice" ponte pair, one fleece lined pair) - jeans (one pair, dark/skinny) - fitted long sleeve tees (Amazon basics, three different colors) - two black tank tops - thin/lightweight track jacket - lighter weight puffer vest (Amazon basics) - quarter zip fleece top - rain jacket with hood - packable hat - two scarves that complemented the colors of my shirts - Timberland boots - Brooks running shoes - all appropriate undergarments/socks - all necessary toiletries All of the above were worn in various combinations while on board, for sleeping, and while out on excursions. I could have pared it down a little further, but no regrets. I also packed a small case (the size of a paperback book) for my phone/iPad power banks, cables, chargers, etc. What I brought and wished I HADN'T: - swimsuit/cover up (it was too cool for me to enjoy the pools, and the hot tubs were always overcrowded) - a dress, heeled boots, and fancy clutch for formal nights (I basically just wore these items for two hours at dinner on the two formal nights, and then got right back into my warmer cozy clothes) You may also want to consider camera/binoculars for your itinerary (my husband packed ours!)
