I think this is a little bit more complicated than this. Unlike your wife, NCL is a TA. In many cases, a flight ticket from a TA needs to be changed ONLY through the TA, even when the airline is willing to change for free. NCL is at least responsible for responding to the calls.

This is how I used to use wifi on Delta before they made it free. Download the Delta app link triggers free wifi 15 minutes or so and I could use that exactly 10 times. That's more than enough for a long-haul flight.
