I am booked on the Royal Princess for the 10 day Eastern Caribbean Voyager cruise in September. My travel friend and I have excursions decided and booked with the exception of Princess Cays. We wanted to book a clamshell and "floaty" chairs like we did on another cruise to the Caribbean on the Emerald Princess several years ago. When I go to the excursions Princess Cays is not in blue lettering giving you the option to book things there. Does anyone know why? We booked those things ahead of time before and wanted to do it again.

We spent 4 days prior to our Hawaiian cruise at the Hyatt Waikiki. It was a wonderful location and we loved the hotel. That was in 2009.

We were on the Getaway in September. It is an awesome ship! I too had read all the reviews about the food in the Illusionarium. My friend and I both found it not to be bad at all. We were pleasantly surprised. You will love the show. I am still trying to figure out how they did some of the tricks!

I think this is a wonderful idea. I know I need it for a week or so upon returning from a cruise. Getting back into the "real world" is sooooo hard!!

We were there in May this year. It was absolutely perfect weather. Got to see plenty of snow and it was nice and warm up in the day.

We did the Southbound Alaska cruise aboard the Crown this past May and we had no tender ports. Awesome trip!!

Hi Penny3. How do you sign up for Price Drops? Sounds like a great thing.

We've done the full transit twice. Personally, if you've traveled that far, then you should see the whole thing. If you only do the round trip, soon to be commenced by NCL, then I think you should at least take the ferry completion all the way through, with the bus ride return to the ship at Colon.
Thanks roger001. Is the ferry completion and the bus ride to the ship available as a shore excursion?

Thanks Cubfan. I did want Princess suggestions since we have cruised Princess as well as NCL and we love Princess. We are toying with the Western Costal cruises. Would love to hear from anyone who has gone on one. I did post as well on NCL board, since we have cruised with them before too.

Thanks, Johnny Bananas! Question....if you have done the Panama Canal, is it important to do a complete transit (expensive & longer time), or is the round trip a good cruise?

Hi Everyone! You are all such a wealth of information and I am stumped, so I thought I might throw this out and see what suggestions I get. We just did the Eastern Caribbean cruise on Getaway September 20-27. It was awesome. Next April I have my big 6-0 birthday and my good friend and travel buddy thinks we need to do another trip to celebrate. We have done the following cruises with Princess and NCL.... Eastern Caribbean, Western Caribbean, Southern Caribbean, Alaska Cruise Tour, Hawaii. We would like to go somewhere we haven't been instead of repeating, but since I work at a church it is going to really take a lot to save up enough to cruise in April/May which is when her vacation has to be. I couldn't save up thousands to do something really big. Can any of you suggest some cruises with NCL that might fit the bill???? I know as long as you are cruising it is a wonderful vacation, but would love to experience some new locations. I love some of the European trips, but the airfare costs more than the cruises. We usually cruise an inside room. Thanks for your suggestions!

Had the pleasure of sailing on NCL Getaway September 20-27. Your review and photos are making me want to be back onboard badly!!! I have cruise fever. My travel buddy and I are planning something in April or May of next year to celebrate my big 6-0 birthday. Just not sure what. We have done Eastern Caribbean, Western Caribbean, Southern Caribbean, Alaska and Hawaii. Want to do somewhere different, but can't afford too expensive a cruise. Any suggestions from friends here on CC are appreciated. We have sailed NCL and Princess.

We were there mid-May and it was AWESOME!

Because of work we and lack of an extra day vacation time we could not travel a day early. The weather looks great in ATL for Saturday, so hopefully we will get out on time and get in to MIA at the scheduled time. Our transfer is through NCL.

I will be headed to Miami this Saturday for a wonderful Getaway get away! Our flight leaves Atlanta at 11:00 and arrives in Miami at 12:52. (If everything is on time). We purchased the transfer from the airport to the ship. In reading the documentation it says that for security reasons that everyone should be on the ship 2 hours before sail away. By the time we get in to MIA at roughly 1:00, gather our luggage and get the transfer, do you think we will meet the 2:00 all aboard time. Will it be a big problem if we are a little after 2 getting to the port? Not sure how long it takes from MIA to the ship and if they will let us board after 2:00. Any advise from seasoned NCL travelers will be appreciated. I am one of these OCD persons about being on time, so the thoughts of being after 2 makes me a little nervous. Thanks you!

Thank you so much WaldosPepper!!

Sure hoping someone will respond who has had an inside cabin.

Has anyone stayed in one of the inside cabins on deck 5 on the Getaway? We have an inside cabin for next week. The last few inside cabins we have had have been on Princess and the square footage of this one seems quite a bit smaller than the ones we had on Princess. Just wanted to hear from someone who might have stayed in one of those cabins. We are deck 5 cabin 5449. It may be a good thing that my friend and I travel well together.

Thank you Sea Shark for setting me straight and helping me to see that we did get an upgrade. (Although it shows on our Vacation Summary that it is an IX.) When I pull up the deck plan it doesn't show any IE rooms on Deck 5. I just love cruising and am happy with any room that I have on board! Now...just wishing the 20th will hurry and get here!! Hope everyone has an awesome day and others still waiting will get their assignments!! ;)

Just got my cabin assignment this morning. No upgrade for our IX GTY. We are deck 5 cabin 5449 which is forward inside. Has anyone ever stayed on deck 5? If so, were you satisfied with it? Just curious....
So looking forward to this cruise on the Getaway and cabin doesn't really matter. Just happy to be cruising on September 20.:)

Down to 9 days and finally got our cabin assignment this morning. No upgrade for us. Booked an IX GTY and got an IX GTY...Deck 5 cabin 5449.
Doesn't really matter because we will be cruising and don't spend much time in the cabin anyway. Just excited for our September 20 cruise on the Getaway!!

Hi newr. We are also on the Sept. 20 on Getaway. We may be right down there with you, although we are silver with NCL...but that may not mean a thing. It will be fun to see where we all end up!! Everyday I say...maybe tomorrow. We are inside guarantee too!
