12 Days from our cruise and still waiting on room assignment. OOOOOO the suspense. Fun though!:D

I have a question about the Getaway. Will be on her in about 12 days and can hardly wait. Is there a hairdryer provided in the room? Looked at the pictures, but couldn't seem to see one. Thank you for the info. Just needed to know whether to pack one or now.

I have been to GSC twice before. I am cruising on the Getaway in 16 days and wish we were doing GSC instead of Nassau. Oh well...I will be on a cruise and you can't beat that!!

16 Days out from our Sept. 20 cruise on the Getaway with an IX GTY and still no assignment......

Well....we are 18 days out and still no assignment for our IX GTY. Sure am getting curious!!!!

Hi 3boys! If I have it figured right you will be on the September 20 sailing of Getaway. So will my friend and I. We are both from Georgia as well. I am from Villa Rica and my friend Ellen is from Jackson. It will be our first time on the Getaway, so I will be watching your post to see what others have to say. We are looking forward to a relaxing cruise as well. Hope to meet you on the cruise.

25 Days until the Getaway! Can hardly wait!!

Thanks cliffd64! I am very grateful to just be going since this is my second cruise this year and I had to really penny pinch to do this one. It will be awesome to get away no matter which cabin we are in. We don't stay in the cabin very much anyway!!

Today we are 29 days out from out cruise on the Getaway. Still no room assignment showing up. We have a GTY IX which is the cheapest inside. Is this a good thing, or a bad thing that we still show no assignment? Of course, I check dozens of times each day. LOL!;)

I didn't sail on the Starward, but I did sail on the Skyward (her sister ship) two different times.

Thanks TDOTCRUISR. Wow...that is awesome that you got an outside room. I would give anything if that would happen with us. Guess you just never know. What is important is being on the trip and having fun! Really looking forward to being on the Getaway. It really looks like a beautiful ship!

Thank you dalgirl!

I was looking at pre-booking the Illusionarium for my upcoming cruise in September on the Getaway. I thought the charge would be added to your shipboard account. I realized when I was looking at it this morning that you had to pay for it ahead of time. Would we (party of 2) be safe to wait and book it when we are onboard the ship?
Another question...we are booked in at GTY inside room. When are those rooms typically assigned? It has only been a couple of weeks since we booked and we are not sailing until September 20.
Thanks for you help!

We had a blast on the Skyward. Like you, it is funny looking at the pictures. Back then, though we thought it was a BIG ship! If we had only known what was to come!! Sure am dating myself here, aren't I? The Skyward was my first taste of cruising and I have loved it ever since. Just wish I had a fat pocketbook where I could do much more of it!! That is why I work, so that I can enjoy a few trips here and there!!

We did an inside to Alaska on Princess this past May. We didn't regret it in the least. We were up on deck when viewing scenery. We had rather have that extra money to do other things with. If money was not an issue I would get a balcony, but I had rather take the wonderful trip in an inside than not go at all (or be able to do things while there). Whatever you decide you will LOVE Alaska. It is awesome beyond words!

Just my personal preference, but I would rather have the day on the Private Island than the day in Nassau in September. Oh well...will enjoy Nassau anyway!!

I will be sailing on the Getaway in September. The cruises I have done on NCL are: 2 cruises to the Caribbean in the 1980s on the MS Skyward (boy have ships come a long way), The Pride of America in Hawaii in 2009. My most recent cruises have been with Princess. My question is this...does NCL still have their private island? We always enjoyed our time on the private island and I notice that I don't see it on the cruises I have looked at. Just curious.... Thank you!

What are the things that you highly recommend booking before you board ship...other than shore excursions? I am mainly asking about dining venues and shows. Thank you in advance for your help.

Thank you everyone. Hopefully that will be my last "dumb" question. I will try to be more descriptive in my title in the future.
-
I thank everyone who kindly responded to my question yesterday and I have another today. Again, since it has been several years since sailing NCL and my last few have been on Princess I cannot remember these things.
I know with Princess you list your flight information so that they know when to expect you for your transfers. On the check in info for NCL I do not see anywhere to list your flight info. When you have a transfer from the airport to the ship do they have people there all the time and you just go find them? What is the process? Thanks so much for your help! We will be flying into Miami.

Thank you everyone for your answers. I truly appreciate it!!

Question about NCL cruise reservation...
It has been several years since I last cruised on NCL. My friend and I are booked on the Sept. 20 sailing on The Getaway. Our travel agent (a friend of my traveling companion) booked our cruise and put it on my friends credit card. I then sent my friend the money for my half of the cruise. I went in and filled out all of my check in information yesterday, but I didn't see anywhere to give your credit card info. All of my charges will be on my own card. My last few cruises have been on Princess and there is a section in the check in info to register your credit card info. Will they just take that info when we check in at the port? I couldn't remember from my last cruise on NCL which was 2009. Thank you for your help in jogging my memory....guess that is what happens when you near 60...

Was just on the Crown May 17-24 and found it to be a wonderful ship. I didn't feel that it was any more crowded than any other ship I have sailed on. Everything seemed beautifully maintained and we had no issues at all.
-
We sailed 2 years ago on the Emerald and LOVED her. We had an inside room on the Aloha Deck and it seemed more spacious than the inside room on the Caribe deck of the Crown we had several weeks ago. We usually go for inside rooms and use the extra money for shore excursions, etc. One thing we do is to keep our TV on the bridge cam while in the room. This gives you a view of outside.
How far out does NCL assign guarantees?
