We were hesitating between inside vs balcony at booking, but the ~$5000 price difference plus a lot of folks's opinion that it doesn't matter much as one is in the cabin to sleep only skewed the decision making. And we mistakenly chose the north bound ship that has so many disadvantages (6am arrival time for Glacier Bay is one of them). I guess a more comprehensive research prior booking is critical. well, lesson learned.

I reserved a sedan from airport. It's around $80 for the day, but adding the taxi cost back and forth (and time), renting from the dock side is apparently a more efficient option (I don't have another party to share the cost with). But I don't want the risk and hassle with Turo. Personal preference i guess.

I am hesitating between taking chilkoot tour vs self drive. The advantage of Chilkoot's tour is 1) get to experience the well known whitepass train. 2) get to see Bennett Lake which is only accessible via train by this tour. But taking the tour is obviously less flexible and very pricy. Could anyone pls share insights on the view of Bennett Lake as in if it's worth the extra time and $$? How does it compare to Emerald Lake? So many people on this forum rave about Emerald lake but I haven't seen too many reviews on Bennett lake, hence the question.
