  1. If you get the chance, can you see if there are any free art activities like sketching or painting onboard? There were sketch classes on my last cruise and I've seen rooms with easels in photos online, but I cannot figure out which ships that set up. Also, how accessible have events been? Are you having to show 30 minutes before to get seating?
  2. On my last Celebrity cruise, I wore a collared shirt, jeans, and newish sneakers in the MDR every night including chic night without feeling awkward at all. Following the suggestion of others on here, I ate as early as possible on chic night so I wouldn't photo bomb those who were dressed up. The crowd became less casual in the MDR toward late seating.
  3. For similar requests before boarding, the best and most reliable avenue I've found to get a response is to message Celebrity through their facebook page.
  4. Great fun from the sounds of it. I've been trying to figure out how to get from FL to Seattle in 4 hours so I can do a B2B Caribbean & Alaska but every flight seems to have a layover 😕 I temporarily booked a B2B out of canaveral doing E & W caribbean on 2 different lines (NCL has a promo for $250 match on down payment).
  5. I am considering a solo cruise on NCL. I've only done solo cruises on Celebrity in a solo balcony for comparison. I think Prima is the ship I should consider most but I'd like some input from those of you that have more experience in the studios. The main reason I want the studio lounge is so I can get lattes without paying extra. I do fine with drinking the included coffee so I'm okay with sacrificing for some better amenities. When researching the studio cabins, I don't see much difference between ships except that Epic spreads the cabins further apart than other ships. I haven't noticed any ships with larger studio cabins, beds, or any other room related amenities. This is the main item I'd like some input about - am I correct? I am aware some ships have solo balconies, but they are pricing out WAY more expensive on NCL than I can get on a Celebrity ship - so I won't be taking that option. I can get an ocean view (non-studio) on some NCL ships for similar costs. Of cabins I've stayed in, the windows have no good view while sitting so I've found them of little value. I would appreciate more room in a cabin, but I'm pretty content with trading off extra space for lattes (I don't find them worth $100 to have them for a week). Although I will do the climbing gym or slides a couple of times on a cruise, I don't feel like those sort of features make a big difference to me since I'd likely only do them a couple of times throughout a cruise. Put-put and similar won't attract me on a solo trip. I feel like I might do a dry slide on Prima a few times more since I could see that more convenient when I want to go to an activity and I'm already in dry clothes. Shows onboard is something I consider when choosing. I think Prima is best because of the food hall feature. I don't really care for buffets because of the risk of illness spreading & the temperature of my food is always lukewarm when I get to the table on a cruise. I usually do all my meals in MDRs due to the upgrade in food quality, being waited on isn't too important to me. I don't cruise for the 'dress up' aspect - it's just a requirement for me to eat in MDR. The food hall really sounds like the least awkward eating experience on any cruise where you might be at a table alone. I'm considering a trip to Bermuda - either 2 or 3 days in port. Does anyone know if the food venues are all open for lunch for all the days in port? I've never been on a cruise that stays overnight in port - I almost always end up further south in Caribbean. Is the ship easily accessible the entire time it's in port? It is unclear if a ferry is required to get back onboard. Thanks for any input.
  6. Thanks for all the responses! I don't get the feeling anyone feels like a cruise on Silhouette is worth downgrading to an oceanview cabin versus cruising on Equinox in a balcony (equinox balcony cabin was significantly cheaper than on any other ship). And I'd still get a good comparison against the other ships against the Beyond - which is the only Celebrity cruise I've taken thus far.
  7. Oh - maybe that was why it cost extra. I did not use it since I splurged on the spa already.
  8. Epic had a snow room, but it cost extra to use it above what you pay for the spa package. At least it did pre-covid.
  9. Is the snow room included on any of the ships? I'm pretty sure it wasn't part of the basic spa package on Epic
  10. A few items I've read to consider with TA trips - If you do a balcony, you may want a room facing away from the southern side - some rooms can get hot with the sun hitting directly on the exterior for the entire trip - especially if there isn't lots of shade over the balcony. Another person posted the balcony seemed like a waste since all you ever see is water on most days - personally I'd still go for a balcony room though. The other item is that many prefer trips that go in same direction as the sun - you have about an extra hour a day so you feel like you have plenty of time to do all you want. When you are going opposite the sun, the hour loss day after day can make the days feel rushed. Personally when I priced out a TA recently, I could not find better prices for airfare than what the cruiseline packaged into the trip where I usually can find better deals on domestic flights.
  11. I’m currently booked on equinox because the balcony was only $40 more than inside rooms on other ships. But I remembered the poll and equinox didn’t fare as well so I am considering rebooking. The glass blowing feature is one item that caught my attention on equinox initially.
  12. I'm trying to plan a trip in 2025 and I'm looking at the different ships. I posted a poll in July for the favorite Celebrity ship & Silhouette won by over twice the votes of any other ship besides Reflection (that came in second by about 1/4 fewer votes). I've tried to understand what makes this ship so noteworthy amongst everyone - besides the fact it isn't an edge ship. Many other non-edge ships had very few votes so there is something more to it. One thing I've noticed is that the most active commenters are staying in suites and point out the spaces and perks for those guests. I can't afford a suite and the ship mainly has 3 and 4 night trips early 2025. I'm wondering if the suites are more affordable to more people causing the sway in popularity - or if the special something on this ship is what I'd experience in a standard cabin onboard. What exactly makes this ship stand out?
  13. I've only been on one ship so far so I can't give a suggestion - but I raise this question to some of you that have crossed the ocean. Should how easily a ship gets tossed in bad seas be a consideration? I've only had one really rough cruise and it was on an older and smaller ship. It's the only trip I've been really badly seasick on - even the crew was sick on that trip & I wouldn't want to do it again. The likelihood of big waves seems greater on ocean crossings to me. My understanding is that heavier and newer ship with the newest technology sway the least - however I question if wider with fewer floors might help too. Opinions?
  14. Not my post, but I have a related question about a future booking on Equinox. I have never dined in the specialty rooms before and am considering one of the packages of 3 meals. One offers 2 lunches and 1 dinner. The other is 3 dinners. The packages are only about $10 different. Is there any benefit to the package that includes lunches?
