  1. A few items I've read to consider with TA trips - If you do a balcony, you may want a room facing away from the southern side - some rooms can get hot with the sun hitting directly on the exterior for the entire trip - especially if there isn't lots of shade over the balcony.   Another person posted the balcony seemed like a waste since all you ever see is water on most days - personally I'd still go for a balcony room though.  The other item is that many prefer trips that go in same direction as the sun - you have about an extra hour a day so you feel like you have plenty of time to do all you want.  When you are going opposite the sun, the hour loss day after day can make the days feel rushed.  Personally when I priced out a TA recently, I could not find better prices for airfare than what the cruiseline packaged into the trip where I usually can find better deals on domestic flights.

I appeciated the openess of Craft Social which felt more inviting than Cellar Masters.

I also enjoy attending a few events in Quasar which is not on Reflection.

However, glass blowing is more interesting to me versus the Lawn Club Grill on Silhouette.

I’m currently booked on equinox because the balcony was only $40 more than inside rooms on other ships. But I remembered the poll and equinox didn’t fare as well so I am considering rebooking. The glass blowing feature is one item that caught my attention on equinox initially.

  3. I'm trying to plan a trip in 2025 and I'm looking at the different ships.  I posted a poll in July for the favorite Celebrity ship & Silhouette won by over twice the votes of any other ship besides Reflection (that came in second by about 1/4 fewer votes).  I've tried to understand what makes this ship so noteworthy amongst everyone - besides the fact it isn't an edge ship.  Many other non-edge ships had very few votes so there is something more to it.

One thing I've noticed is that the most active commenters are staying in suites and point out the spaces and perks for those guests. I can't afford a suite and the ship mainly has 3 and 4 night trips early 2025.   I'm wondering if the suites are more affordable to more people causing the sway in popularity - or if the special something on this ship is what I'd experience in a standard cabin onboard.

What exactly makes this ship stand out?

  4. I've only been on one ship so far so I can't give a suggestion - but I raise this question to some of you that have crossed the ocean.  Should how easily a ship gets tossed in bad seas be a consideration?  I've only had one really rough cruise and it was on an older and smaller ship.  It's the only trip I've been really badly seasick on - even the crew was sick on that trip & I wouldn't want to do it again.  The likelihood of big waves seems greater on ocean crossings to me.  My understanding is that heavier and newer ship with the newest technology sway the least - however I question if wider with fewer floors might help too.   Opinions?

  5. Not my post, but I have a related question about a future booking on Equinox.  I have never dined in the specialty rooms before and am considering one of the packages of 3 meals.  One offers 2 lunches and 1 dinner.  The other is 3 dinners.  The packages are only about $10 different.  Is there any benefit to the package that includes lunches?

  6. I searched my IPhone app store by Royal Caribbean developer apps and located a Celebrity Edge Access Tour app.  It seems to need to be on the ship to work - at least it won't play at my home correctly.  That may be the current version of it - but I don't see a Non-edge version and my next trip is on one of their older ships.  Maybe someone will see this thread and test it out.

  7. I read an article over the weekend that stated:  Celebrity Cruises has long been committed to its art collection — the line was first to offer iPod tours.  It sounds like these are self guided tours onboard.  Does anyone know how to find them?  I didn't see them advertised on my Beyond sailing.

  8. Hopefully I don't break any rules - it's hard to get advice on this topic without mentioning companies. If this post is not allowed, remove it and I'll ask elsewhere.

I have booked a cruise out of Port Canaveral for the first time and looked for flights afterward.  Unexpectedly MLB is fairly inaccessible in terms of available flights so Orlando will be where I land.  The increased distance to port makes uber/lyft and Celebrity transfers around $75 each way.  I was looking for options that might save some money.

I've never seen shuttles with restrictions of 4 passengers, but the airport has them.  I found one shuttle service for $65 each way if it's legit.  Are there any other means like trains or something that I'm overlooking?
