  1. There is a new "sale" on HAL's site - called "Seas the Day", with extra OBC. Our cruise is on it, but as we are now in the penalty phase, I imagine it's for new bookings only. Boo!

Thanks for posting this - contacted my TA and looks like we will get more OBC for our Canal transit in Jan on the Statendam.:D:D:D

This is why CC is so great.

  2. We will be arriving on the Statendam at Aloha Pier at 8am on a Saturday and departing Sunday at 4pm. What is the best way to get around? Is there a shuttle that we can take down to Waikiki? Does the Hilo Hati shuttle stop at the Aloha Pier? Just looking for best way to get around. Thanks,

  3. We will be on a cruise in Jan 2015 that stops in Cartagena and are considering doing a private tour with one of the vendors that we see recommended on this board. Just wondering what personal experience folks have had recently with concerns for personal safety while on a tour? Were there armed military at every corner or was it more like any major city around the world were you just need to take normal precautions? When we were in Santa Marta several years ago there were armed military about every 500 feet along the water front. We were in Barcelona and Rome recently and the big concern there is for pickpockets. Just wondering. Thanks.

  4. This past Feb on the Noordam the boat commander with the clipboard refused to take anyone's name/room number when arriving for the drill. We had to wait until most all people were present and then he called of the names. In all the previous HAL cruises we checked in when we arrived at the station and things went much faster. Looking forward to the electronic check in.

  5. We typically have gotten ours the next day but depends when during the cruise you make the deposit. With the new HAL system it really makes sense to get several $100 FCDs. You can add the additional funds when you book the cruise if needed because it is a longer trip and if you end up not using it at all you get you money back.

  6. We seem to have a communication problem. I told you about 10 days ago on another thread that the full itinerary for the world cruise 2016 is OUT already and.... since the 3rd week of April. It is published, do you want a copy ????? There is also a thread on the roll call showing the FULL itinerary Under AMSTERDAM WORLD CRUISE 2016.

Give me your email, I will send you the full itinerary that was provided and published by Stein Kruse's office.

Thanks for the info - my TA checked with HAL last week and was told it would not be published until mid-June.

  7. That is so strange, since they count the land days toward your Mariner days and even the medallion program.

You might want to recheck - I don't think the land days are counted toward the medallion program - at least the one's we have from Alaska and New England trips are not being counted.

  8. I use Dollar Rental in San Diego. There location is about a 12 to 15 minute walk from the pier depending on which pier the ship comes in to. About 5 blocks north and 1 block east and they have good rates. When sailing out of San Diego I usually drop off the DW with the luggage at the pier, take the car back to the rental agency and then walk back to the ship

  9. You won't have to if you use private browsing. It's a sandboxed browser session that doesn't use your saved cookies. It also means that your cookies are still available when you start browsing in normal mode again.

    Hope that makes sense! :)

How do I use private browser in IE?

  10. I LOVED "Droom"! I thought it was several notches above the usual showroom offerings. In fact, I had asked someone (I forget if it was the cruise director, the events manager or the male lead singer) if they were still with Stiletto Entertainment, because it was so good that I thought they had changed production companies!

I was on the 11-day itinerary on the Noordam and unfortunately "Classique" wasn't offered during our sailing, but I've heard good things about that one as well.

We did both the 11 and 10 day on the Noordam so got to see "Classique" and it was also excellent. We saw both Classique and Droom on the Ryndam in 2013 just after they were introduced - they were good there and even better on the Noordam since they had a larger cast.

  11. Thanks for all the input. Ours were processed on the same day but the numbers are over 100,000 apart (only the first 3 are the same). Also noticed that these have a chip and the covers are much stiffer and thicker. Got the new ones back in 14 days - will be interesting to see how long it takes to get the old one's back.

  12. We needed to renew our passports - sent in the old passports and paperwork on March 25 - got the new one's in the mail today - quick turnaround ---- however, they did not return our old ones :(. I was under the impression that we got the old one's back too. Has anyone else renewed theirs recently and not gotten the old one back?

  13. I'm new to HAL and will be traveling for the first time on Eurodam for a New Year's Eve cruise. I was just checking my booking and wanted to look at shore excursion options for my trip, but a message said that there aren't any available at this time. How far in advance does HAL usually post shore excursions?

Typically they are available 5 to 6 months prior to embarkation day.
