As mentioned here frequently,  Orange County is smaller, easier to use. But it increases the likelihood of connecting flights...you can fly nonstop to LAX from many more places.

The distance to/from LAX to port is complicated by traffic far more than Orange County. I would definitely favor Orange County the vast majority of options, but I can fly there non-stop.

Have you considered flying into Long Beach Airport and stay in San Pedro. Thats our preference over LAX . Never have flown out of Orange County. Might look into it.

One of the travelers in our party has a felony conviction on his record from 10 years ago.  We are set to leave out of Bayonne NJ on Tuesday to Halifax Canada on a 4 day closed loop cruise.  Will he be denied boarding in NJ or will he have a problem when he gets to the port in Canada?  Anyone experience this type of issue when cruising?  Thanks for any info.

Felony convictions and DUI can be used to deny entry into Canada. Some US Felony Convictions in Canada are considered a Criminal Code Offence. If it is considered to be a Criminal Code Offence in Canada , a good chance that he will be denied entry into Canada . The cruise line could deny boarding as well.

    Hi Cruise Critic friends,

My family are Ruby and Platinum members in a reputable cruise line.  This time we decided to try Celebrity Cruise. As discussion went on working on numbers, we decided to take their Alaska Hubbard Cruise. As we go to the details on onboard insurance, Gondi (vacation specialist) firmly mentioned that Celebrity Cruise offers insurances only to Americans. Since we are Canadians, we need to go find our own insurance. Quite discriminatory and disappointing.  Lessons learned to find other cruise lines.

Celebrity has a site for Canadians to buy insurance.

Here is the link to the site

I am definitely in favor of HAL being purchased by someone with a clean slate, with the proper focus and financial backing.  The sooner the better for both HAL's future, and Carnival's debt burden (interest rates aren't getting any better).  Maybe the corporation that purchased Azamara would be a contender?

Anyone who buys it probably won’t have any experience on how to run a cruise line.
A hedge fund or even the Saudis don’t have experience to run a cruise line. They would have to hire someone who had experience just like they did with their airlines. They hired executives from other airlines to run them.

Of course a comparison can be made. Crystal is under new ownership and the topic of this thread is whether or not HaL will be under new ownership.

i would hope everyone here understands the difference between bankruptcy and a sale 😉

There are people here who probably dont understand the difference.

We've been discussing this in the stock forum thread for months. It's an interested thread if this is your jam. We're a fun group :).

I do respectfully disagree with future bookings being safe. You absolutely could be correct, but it's still up in the air. Take a look at the Crystal forum. Lots of guests out to the tune of $10,000+ dollars. We don't have any evidence that if this happens it will be a gradual change anymore than we have evidence there will be a hostile take over (which is on the table). Chapter 7/11/et all. It's simply still too early to know.

What we do know is that the buyer will likely purchase for pennies on the dollar given the current financial state of CCL. And any buyer needs to be SUPER cash flush. CCL is still hemorrhaging money at an alarming rate.

You cant compare Crystal to HAL is its sold . Crystal's parent company went into bankruptcy which isn't the same as a HAL being sold . Bankruptcy and selling is like comparing apple to oranges.  The purchaser would want to keep the current client base and market to a new demographic.

I thought that is what I said. To cancel through insurance first means to file a claim with AON who administers the Princess plan. Once that claim is denied because it is not a covered reason, then it reverts to FCC which is actually not part of the insurance but a service provided by Princess as an incentive to buy the policy. That is why it is in the form of a credit instead of cash reimbursement.

It costs Princess little except some administrative fees to offer the credit. They get to keep your money until you use the FCC. In the meantime, they are getting a profit from selling Princess-branded insurance which is really underwritten by Nationwide and administered by AON.

I went directly to Cancel for Any Reason. Had my credits in 30 days. I didn’t bother submitting a claim.

It is not automatic. You’ll have to cancel with insurance first. It will be denied because you are not cancelling for a covered reason. Then you’ll have to contact Princess for the FCC under Cancel for Any Reason. That part is provided by Princess and is not insurance.

Cancel for any reason goes thru AON . I've used it a couple of times . in both cases submitted the documentation to AON. Cancel for Any reason is provided thru insurance bought thru Princess.

Good question. I presume initial sailings would be scheduled where LNG is available, but I would think it could be trucked into ports in most developed countries. If they can refuel dockside or need a separate fuel barge is a question. It also appears they will be dual fueled so if LNG not available no problem.

I think Aida cruises has a similar ship in service right. The video I saw was that they refueled about every 7 days on turn around.

Thinking of switching flying from Vancouver to the USA and instead going to Seattle and flying home.  Does Princess offer FREEE transfers?  Or do I have to have EZ Air.  I booked my flights on my own.

Princess doesn't have free transfers to Seattle. They can be bought for a price. There also is bus that runs between Vancouver and Seattle. They have a morning run that leaves Canada Place for Seattle.

    Look into Quick Shuttle.

Historically, when would I expect to begin to see cruise itineraries for 2024 to be available?  I know there's a perk for the Super Duper Elites of getting early access to them, but when do itineraries filter down to the proles?

Elities only find out the day before they open for elites or two days for everyone else.

If you have a good relation with a PVP they will let you know about a week before .

???  that is very incorrect.  Just did a CVS one in Hawaii last month.  Used our hotel address and then when we checked in to get our test, they changed it to our home address.  In November we used one near WDW called Curative and it was free and just used our hotel address and our passport for ID.  Many people have used the Walgreens one though and have never had to pay....just used the hotel address and passports or drivers licence for ID.  In September we went to one in California run by City Health...I told them I was using it to get back into Canada...FREE!!!! and I have told a number of people about the California one and they have gotten it for free too.

They might of done it for free. My relatives in the states had to supply their medical insurance number to get the test. They have had to test about six and in each case the pharmacy request the number from their medical insurance carrier.

In the US, Walgreens, CVS and Curative (Florida only I think) does free Covid tests.  If you are flying from Seattle to Florida, no covid test is required for the flight.  We fly from Seattle and just cross the land border so eliminate 1 covid test.

The Free Test done by CVS and Walgreens aren't really free . You have to supply a US Medical Carrier Number to get it free.

We are doing Alaska in Septembr flying RT out of Toronto to Vancouver...As I understand if you fly withing Canada no Test is required.  Would you still need to get a test after debarkation in Vancouver to fly home though...

    thank you

We are doing something similar. We are flying within BC .

  15. Many cruise lines have extend their Cruise with Confidence protocols until the end of September. If testing is required it will be supplied  as required.
Another thing , what is Alaska going to require for testing of passengers. Last year any flying into Anchorage or Fairbanks was required to have Covid test before arriving. They exempted cruise passengers to SE Alaska because of cruise lines requiring all passengers to be tested.

Any suggestions for insurance for seniors 68 and 78??

Look at the cruise line insurance if on a cruise .I'm 71 and my wife is 65. Any plans for travel seem to be extremely expensive. For what insurance companies are charging I can get a 7 day cruise for the both of us.
