Martha's Vineyard Full Island Tour on Celebrity Summit!!
st5310 replied to st5310's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Yes, Oak Bluffs. Ship is in port 8-5 for one day. There is only one excursion offered--a panoramic drive in a Sprinter van and it's kind of expensive--$178 per person. That's the reason we were inquiring. Thank you! -
Martha's Vineyard Full Island Tour on Celebrity Summit!!

A more "appropriate forum?" Excuse me. -
The port of call is Martha's Vineyard. First time Celebrity will stop there, I think.

Anyone been on this tour? Any details would help. Thank you!

Thank you all for your replies and to DaKahuna for the pics.

DW and I are sailing Summit in a couple months. We are interested in the Macallan Flight Experience, a paid event tasting of Macallan single malt scotches. Very little information is offered on the Cruise Planner site other than price and a VERY brief description. The site gives no details on which types of Macallan are tasted and which day (or days) the tasting takes place. Macallan produces many kinds of single malt, so before signing up it would be nice to know. If you have participated in this event, please share what you remember. Thank you!

First, the details: DW and I just had a Royal sailing cut short because of a health issue. We did purchase insurance (not thru Royal) prior to and I have submitted a claim for reimbursement. As I await their reply, I wanted to ask my cruising brethren if any of you have had this unfortunate experience and how did it turn out for you... i.e. how long did it take, did you get the full amount applied for, etc.? Thank you kindly.

I agree with those who say you will have an amazing trip and with what Smokeybandit and others wrote who suggested that people love to complain. No cruise vacation is perfect; there will be some things you may not like, but for the most part Anthem is a great ship--one of our favorites. Lots to do, plenty of eating spots, enough quiet spaces, something for everyone. As another poster wrote, take these complaints with a grain of salt.

Another cut being tested: Once per day cabin service
st5310 replied to Tenderpaw's topic in Royal Caribbean International
So according to Jsmom2 we can request once per day cleaning? 45+ cruises and I never knew that. -
Another cut being tested: Once per day cabin service
st5310 replied to Tenderpaw's topic in Royal Caribbean International
This is a cut I can live with. Don't need 2x per day for cleaning. And I agree with pcur... I will continue to use the same number of towels, sheets, washcloths, etc. I imagine the room steward would still deliver laundry, daily news rag, and other invitations and notices in the evening. The towel animals are fun, but I can live without those as well. -

Diamond Plus - No More Concierge/Suite Lounge Access
st5310 replied to DaKahuna's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've been reading these posts and I can't say I'm surprised at the vitriol. I disagree with most, as I believe the perks are fine. However, for those of you who are complaining that the perks "suck," perhaps you can tell me what perks you SHOULD be getting, in addition to the laundry bag, vouchers, etc. And how do the perks we DO get compare with other similar lines, e.g. Carnival, HAL, NCL, et al.? DW and I are both D+, but we LOVE the lounge which is why we book Grand Suites. It is always bad business to remove benefits. Royal could have made this announcement with an advanced date, say "starting March 1, 2023" or something like it, then just deal with the overages until the new policy kicks in. -
What ship are you hoping will come to NJ?

Pardon my ignorance, but are you guys referring to Disney Magic or Carnival Magic? I assume Carnival, but please confirm! Thanks. -
Intrusive Staff in Main Dining Room
st5310 replied to cello56's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Photogs have never been an issue for us. Normally when they approach and you decline they go away. These stories are new to me... over 40+ cruises I never had a photog be that aggressive. They may return the next night, but so what?... as long as they leave when it is obvious you are not interested. -
Intrusive Staff in Main Dining Room
st5310 replied to cello56's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I've been reading all these replies and I agree with some. OP has a point, but I haven't experienced that level of intrusive waitering in 40+ cruises. I do have a related nit to pick, however. A couple years ago on the Anthem the four of us were interrupted in the middle of dinner by a besuited member of Food & Beverage who aggressively peddled their wine-tasting event. We were sure he approached us because we had recently ordered a high-end cabernet, but still we resented this obnoxious marketing intrusion during dinner. -
This is a really good point, topnole. Both of us are D+ and in a Grand Suite. Depending on how much, might be more convenient to purchase pre-cruise and be done with it. It's what we have done for previous cruises on Enchantment. This is the first sailing where I am considering taking advantage of the 48-hour offer, thinking the difference in cost for the remaining week would be worth it....
-
Good point! Thank you!
-
I will need internet the whole time, but I appreciate the info. Is there any way to know ahead of time if buying pre-cruise will be the same as onboard?
-
Excellent. I should have clarified my cabin category. Thank you, Biker19. I am also assuming that five days booked onboard would be cheaper than 7 days booked pre-cruise. Can you confirm?
-
So it's about the cabin category and not the ship? Anthem always gave free internet in a Grand Suite. We are in a Grand Suite on Enchantment, but pretty sure we don't get internet included.
-
I suspect this issue has been discussed previously, but do not want to slog through thousands of replies... besides, the rules may have changed and I would prefer updated info. To save time, I already know that Quantum-and-above classes include internet service. But we are booked on the Enchantment which as you know requires the purchase of internet service. So here are my questions: DW and I are Diamond Plus. I understand we are eligible for free internet, one device each, for the first two days. Is that still available to us? And can I purchase the remaining 5 days on board? Thank you all for your replies.
