  1. No, they will tell you were your eating once onboard. Traditional will be assigned to either the Grande or Chic and MTD will be assigned to Silk or American Icon.

    I don't like it at all :(

We have DD (still on cruise planner) and we planned to reserve most our meals in Grande (don't mind dressing up for dinner).

Now it seems we are out of luck just because we'll have My Time Dining.

What bothers me the most that RCL was selling us one product when we booked and them changed it before the cruise.

This is really bad marketing no matter what's the reason behind it. They already SOLD us the product, took our money and then changed it.

  2. But the pools are small and feels like your in a sardine can.

You are absolutely right. Whatever it is in the Serenity area but it's definitely not a pool. Just a place to stand in the water with tens of other people around you.

Cool off? Yes. Any way to swim? Forgetaboutit!

  3. Just got back from the Gem, a week ago right now I was in the Thermal Suite. TOTALLY worth it. When you talk about really relaxing that is the place to be, it is open late till 10pm. Those hot stone chairs, the hydro pool, ahhhhhh, I miss it so! Out of the 7 days we were there almost every day even port days! By the way you also get a Body scrub for free when you pre purchase it. They have 3 different choices. Lavender, lemon and Peppermint. They give you a loofah also.

The Thermal suite itself is UNISEX but each side does offer private 1 person Jacuzzi's and a Sauna and a special Steam room that I could not go into ( way to HOT ) but my friends LOVED it and their skin felt so good.

Never was crowded always able to either find a chair or wait for one, For me this was the best part of the GEM!

Hoping the Breakaway has a similar Spa.

The Breakaway spa is much bigger, has I believe 3 types of the steam rooms and one COLD, a lot more heat lounges, a regular size Jacuzzi, quite a few lounges just to relax.

    We loved it!

I do have to mention that there were times we couldn't find a heat lounge available, people literally parked there and slept or read for hours. We learned to come in the afternoon when people were busy around the ship.

  4. It´s a pretty short list of signature drinks:

Helios in the Sand (Bacardi Superior Rum, Coco Lopez Cream of Coconut, pineapple juice, mint leaves)

Wondering Ice (Remy Martin VSOP, Bénedictine, Dolin Sweet Vermouth, dashes of Peychaud´s bitters)

Rolling Stone (Ilegal Joven Mezcal, honey, lemon & cucumber juices, yogurt mix, basil leaves)

Dream Catcher (Basil Hayden´s Bourbon, Grand Marnier, apricot brandy, lemon & orange juices, simple syrup)

The Stowaway (Talisker Scotch Whisky, port, lemon & orange juices, sugar)

We had the Rolling Stone and the Dream Catcher. I ordered the Dream Catcher and DH the Rolling Stone. We swapped drinks as we both said the other is more our taste.

    steamboats

Thank you so much steamboats! I think I'm in trouble because I'm going to try every one of them :D

  5. two loungers.. nice.. not like those plastic or metal chairs? i think i saw a pic somewhere they look kinda wicker is that true?

They are reclining mesh chairs and an ottoman. I think the wicker furniture is in some of the suites.

Are those the same for all standard balconies? We are on deck 7, I hope we have these chairs.

  6. We ate at Wonderland when we were on Anthem in January and got it for 30% off the first night. We enjoyed it but i wasn't planning on doing it again. For $15 I am happy to go again.

That's interesting, I did not know that.

I was under the impression that Wonderland sells out pretty fast so I booked it online for our upcoming cruise.

This is the restaurant we definitely want to try but it would be much better if I can get it for 30% off :).

Did they offer Wonderland 30% off the first night when you board the ship or it was part of the dining package?

  7. Burn the Floor was available in the Theater on our June Getaway.

We haven't visited Port Canaveral on a ship, but really loved the Space Center when we were vacationing in the area a few years ago. Hope you get to visit it:D

After I read your post Sand and Seas I checked my reservation. You are absolutely right. I've booked Burn the Floor -the show- thinking this is the shorter version for the Manhattan Dining Room. :(

Now I can't book the MDR at the 5:30 slot we want because it conflicts with our show reservation.

I can't seem to find the way online to cancel the show and book MDR.

  8. We are considering buying spa passes on our next Gem cruise so I'm trying to find Youtube videos and pictures on boards to get the details.

From what I understand the Jacuzzi are located separately in the men and women locker rooms. Is this right?

    Any other amenities are separate?

  9. This post really makes me nervous. We have a cabin midship on deck 7. It;s a Holiday cruise so it cost us pretty penny. I would be furious if our cabin looked like in the pictures MsK64 posted. We specifically chose the UNobstructed cabin.

My calls to the CS were useless as usual. The reps kept saying the cabin is unobstructed but now I know better.

    Thank you for warning.

  10. I always cash out these BOA credits against my credit card. Never take OBC. Works perfectly every time, including last week.

There is a "disclosure" comment that redemptions are final, so it could have something to do with the cruise change?

Just got my first bill from NCL credit card.

Is the cash out option the same as the statement credit?

  11. Following. We are on the Anthem in December, coming back to RCL after 9 years.

A lot of changes but I'm most interested in the dining situation. We have Dynamic Dining (not Classic) and I'm trying to understand how it works on Anthem.

I read quite a few horror :D stories how people were turned away from the free venues, etc. Any details (even pre-booking online) will be very much appreciated.

    Enjoy your cruise!
