  1. Dare I ask what a creme brulee martini is?

    Here you are! Dan

1 ounce stoli vanilla vodka, chilled

    1 ounce Kahlua

    3 ounces half-and-half

    Directions

Add ingredients to a cocktail shaker filled with ice; shake vigorously.

Strain into a chilled cocktail glass; garnish with a light sprinkle of sweetened cocoa powder.

  2. The nautical mile is easy - it's defined as a minute of latitude, allowing for easy measurement on nautical charts. [Just use dividers on the latitude scale, instead of printing a distance scale on the chart]

Oh, and a minute is 1/60th of a degree when measuring angles - on earth, the equator is at zero degrees and Santa's Workshop is at 90 degrees North.

You are correct to a point. It is one minute of latitude measured at the equator. Remember, it is different, the farther you are from the equator.

  3. Ship and Year of Cruise: Infinity, 2014

    Cabin #: 6033

    Deck: 6

    Class: 2C

    Area: Forward

    Bed Near: Centered

Quiet?: Yes - no problems at all with noise.

    Balcony View: Wonderful

Balcony Size: Fabulous - one of the 'Sweet Sixteen'

    Wind a Problem?: No

    Soot a Problem?: No

Comments: As stated, the cabin is one of the 'Sweet Sixteen'. The veranda is twice as deep as any other in this category. We moved the inside table out to the veranda and moved the small table in. This gave us more room in the cabin and a bigger table for breakfast on the veranda. A great location near, but not next to elevators/stairs.

  4. We had a totally wonderful time on the cruise, except for our next door neighbors who apparently did not like us even talking on our veranda, as they claimed we woke them up in the morning as we had coffee and toast. They must be VERY light sleepers or had their door open.

As for getting off the ship - we paid for the Celebrity transfer which cost us $33.50 for both of us. We were off the ship at 7:20, sailed through customs and got on an air conditioned bus for the airport. Very smooth all the way and not much more than a cab.

When I collect all my thoughts I will write a full review.

  5. We sailed Reflection in January 2013, it was the 4th loop of the Caribbean she made after coming to the Caribbean. We usually cruise RCC the sister company.

Reflection is a fantastic ship, so much so we are sailing her again September 5th 2014 on an Eastern Mediterranean cruise. Reflection was our first Celebrity sailing. It is a bit more quite than other ships but the crew is fantastic. You have to enjoy the Lawn Grill, Sunset bar, martini bar and all the specialty restaurants.

We were on Reflection this January to get away from the hideous winter we had in Wisconsin. Our favorite was the Molecular Bar. Very odd drinks but very good, done with flair and a lot of fun.

I did write a long review. You might look it up.

  6. We had already booked a hotel in Harwich, and we will leave the hotel relatively early in the day on Monday. Neither of us likes to be hurried at the last minute. It sounds like many are doing this, as we got the last room at this rate and two others were already booked solid. The hotel is the Hotel Continental, which is apparently a short walk to the cruise port. It was quite inexpensive (for UK) and got quite good reviews on TripAdvisor. Probably much less than an extra night in London.

We will get Senior rail passes which will get us from Heathrow to London and London to Harwich Town for less than the ticket to Harwich alone.

Getting the actual Sunday schedule helped a lot. Thanks much! We will keep tabs on things when the date comes closer.

CC is a great resource that everybody planning a cruise should use.
