  1. Just off Legend.

They serve Illy coffee in Latte Tudes and t's wonderful. The Replenish Package came in especially handy here as I had at least one extra large Cappuccino in the evening, maybe one for breakfast, one getting back on board, one at dinner etc..... (all decaf)

So, is everything posted on this menu included? I don't drink coffee/tea, but my college age kids live on it:D This would make them very happy!

  2. Has anyone stayed at the Spring Hill before and what are your thoughts? Can a car be left there during the cruise?

    Thanks,

    Cheryl

We stayed here two years ago before and Allure cruise. We enjoyed it. We didn't have a car so I'm not sure about that, but there is a shopping plaza across the street for any last minute items you make need.

We used the hotel shuttle from the airport to the hotel and then again to the port. However, there was an older gentleman, Isaac, who was a "resident" at the hotel who had a shuttle van. We used him to take our group to dinner. If we hadn't already paid for the hotel shuttle to the port, we would have had him take us.

I think we will be staying there again in March. Hope Isaac is still there :D

  3. I did it!!! Almost 3 years ago. I was so proud of myself. At the time I was 60 pounds overweight and terribly out of shape. But I did it. I was even able to keep up with the teens that were with me :D. So was the other out of shape lady with us.

Out of our group of 7, only one couldn't climb. He has severe knee problems. He did use the stairway along side and joined us for the final picture stop.

We are going to Jamaica again in March and definitely plan on DR!

My best advice....give it a try. You might be pleasantly surprised by what you are capable of doing!:):):) I certainly was

  4. What about the Passport Card?

We are on Liberty out of Ft. Lauderdale in March 2015. Only stops are Jamaica & Labadee. DS's girlfriend is going and doesn't have a passport.

She wanted to know if she can just get the Card. She is a college student on her own and if she can just get the cheaper option that would be great!

    Anybody have experience with this?

  5. If you don't find one, we are cruising June 29. Will look for one if you like. e-mail me, slh1454@aol.com.

Thank you so much for your kind offer:) I went ahead and bought the one off Ebay with the hope that it will fit him.

If it doesn't I may take you up on that offer!

  6. Hope somebody can help!

A few years ago we were on Sensation and my DS bought a pull over quarter zip sweatshirt in navy blue, with the Carnival logo.

Fast forward.....He has worn it out! He loves it and I would love to be able to surprise him on his birthday with a new one.

Short of going on another cruise, does anybody know where I can order a new one? There is currently one on Ebay but it is a S/M and I don't think it will fit.

    TIA,

    Kathy

  7. I was able to snag the "sweet" suite for our March 2015 cruise on Liberty :D. We also have the connecting room!

Can anybody confirm what "perks" are still offered with this room?

We have never been in a PR room before, not to mention this will be our first time on a Freedom Class ship. I have watched the video on youtube and had to laugh about how over the top the décor is! DH will be in for a real surprise:p We do love the oddball things in life.

    Thanks! Kathy

  8. Going with ya! It will be myself, DH, our DD21, DS21, DS 25 along with the 21 year olds boyfriend and girlfriend.

Never been on a Freedom class ship! Looking forward to it.

I started a Meet and Mingle thread, so far there has been nobody else:p Thought maybe we would be all alone!

  9. We set sail on Sunday on our "Win a Cruise" Bingo prize!

We were on the Explorer last Feb. and won on the second day. Since the cruise only cost us the price of our bingo package, we decided to splurge on the airfare and take Adventure from Puerto Rico. We were also able to upgrade our OV cabin to an Aft balcony:D

I think we may skip bingo this time because I don't think lightening will strike twice!

  10. I won several years ago on the Grandeur. What you are describing is what I had to do. I received my first choice.

There were numerous restrictions for a cruise---no holidays, it had to be a cruise of a certain length, it had to be a Caribbean cruise, we could not pick a new ship at that time. You had to pay your taxes and port fees.

It was for an OV room, if you wanted to upgrade, you had to see if any were available and you pay the difference.

We went on the Independence and it was a fabulous cruise. Great deal for taxes and fees. We had lots of fun.

We won one on the Explorer last Feb. This pretty much describes what we had to do also. It also had to be used within 1 year. We got our first choice and were notified within a couple days of RC getting our info. Didn't have to wait until 30 day before cruise. That would be very difficult to plan for:(

We are going on Adventure on Jan 12. We paid for the upgrade and scored an aft balcony :D

Call the number on the certificate and they will walk you thru what needs to be done. Enjoy!

  11. Last Feb. on our Samana stop we did a whale watching excursion with Terry. They took us out to see the whales and then to a private beach for lunch and relaxation! It was one of the best excursions we have ever been on. We would do it again in a heartbeat. Terry's group was wonderful:)

Samana is very undeveloped. Nothing at the port so I would highly recommend having something booked.

And I, too, have heard (from Terry) that this port is being dropped. What a shame.

  12. Last year, we stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn on Staten Island. It was perfect for us.

They had a shuttle that took us to the port. They will also take you to the Staten Island ferry to go into the city.

Since we drove in from Ohio, we were able to leave our car in their lot (free) for the duration of the cruise. Their shuttle picked us up afterwards and brought us directly to our car.

I THINK they will even pick you up if you fly into Newark, but not 100% sure.

    Check it out!

  13. Thanks for the info.....I think I can handle the cave then:) I tend to have problems in really closed in places.

I guess we will plan time for getting lost:D. But we don't mind. Getting lost sometimes helps you find the best places!

We are also thinking of doing a few tours on our own (Mt. Gay and Agapy Chocolate). Along with a short stop at a beach. We love seeing as much of a new place as we can.

    Looking forward to it.

  14. For anybody who has taken the tram into the cave, can you please tell if it is very claustrophobic or is it pretty large and airy?

Also, we are thinking about renting a car for the day, how far is the cave from the port?

We have never been to Barbados and if anybody has suggestions for the day, please share:D

    Thanks!

  15. Found out about Courtney here on Cruise Critic. There were 7 of us and we were booked for Nov. 9 out of Falmouth.

When we got off the ship Courtney was easy to find ( I recognized him from his pictures). He escorted us to his van which was clean and cool.

We went to Dunn's River Falls, which was awesome. We then went to Scotchie's for what was perhaps the best meal we have ever had. He then took us back to Falmouth.

Courtney was very informative and a wonderful guide. If we ever get back to Jamaica we will use his services again.
