  1. Following and enjoying your review so far.  We were on the same cruise as you and saw you at the Retreat sundeck but weren’t introduced.  We were on the back to back with the Feb. 14th sailing and had a wonderful 21 days on the Silhouette.  What a different world we came home to.  My husband and I are both fine and have been staying home since we returned.

I'm looking forward to reading your cruise review installments.  Stay well!

Can anyone confirm that storage cabinets are still in place over the bed in the Aqua cabins (which I believe are the same as pretty much any other veranda cabins)?  With the little collapsible cubes we bring along with us, we've found that storage area to be very useful and nicely out of the way in what otherwise would be useless space.

Yes, those storage cabinets over the bed are still there in Aqua.

  3. Currently on Silhouette sailing to Aruba.  We are in Aqua and we have 2 chairs with footstools and a very small table.  Ship looks great, although no dramatic changes.  The new space where Cellar Masters used to be is a very nice sports bar.  The Sunset Bar area is really beautiful, with tons of comfortable seating.  The indoor pool area has new gray pads on the chairs.  New carpets throughout ship.  Blu looks the same, as do the specialty restaurants.  Tonight we’re dining in Murano.

We are staying on the ship for the next cruise, switching to a Sky suite.  Can’t wait to check out the Retreat and the Retreat sun deck.

  4. The last few days I can’t sign in to the Celebrity website on my iPad.  The front page comes up.  I can see the ships and booking info for new reservations, but can’t access my account.  As soon as I hit the sign in button the screen goes black.  Anyone else having this issue?

  5. Chefwoody, Thanks so much for your wonderful live blog! My husband and I just completed our first Regent Caribbean cruise a few weeks ago and loved it. We booked the November, 2017 transatlantic Explorer cruise while onboard the Mariner.

Reading your take on the ship is so refreshing! Keep up the good work and enjoy your cruise!

  6. Yes, I was referring only to the Mariner. We decided to upgrade and got one of the last ones with a shower. We took a credit for the hotel and will book one ourselves for pre-cruise.

I couldn't find a roll call for our sailing date--November 4, 2016. If anyone reading this is on our cruise, let me know.

  7. Thanks for all the discussions and suggestions on the wardrobe front [emoji106].

My next question is about the bathroom. We are booked in a suite that has a tub, which I didn't realize at the time of booking. We would much prefer a stall shower. Unfortunately, none are available now in our category, F, but some are in the next level up--Concierge E. Any thoughts on how worthwhile it would be to upgrade? E would also include a hotel room pre-cruise.

  8. We just booked an 11 night Mariner Caribbean cruise for November. Do people actually get very dressed up on this type of sailing? We are long time Celebrity (always book Aqua Class) and Oceania cruisers and haven't dealt with a "formal" night in years. Does my husband need to bring a suit or does a sport coat suffice?

Looking forward to our first RSSC cruise!

  9. Hello SandyKnits!

May I ask you if the internet speed was at least acceptable? I have heared various opinions on the subject... As I am boaring next year for the same cruise and I need to work (some emails, etc) during the trip, I wondering if wi-fi quality is so bad as I heared...

    Thanks!

The Internet speed was fine for us. I would highly recommend getting the unlimited package, though. After being on an Oceania Riviera cruise last December with horrific internet service, this seemed like warp speed.

  10. I thought I'd check in here too. So far the cruise is going great. We met some very nice people around the ship, and the cruise critic Party was very well attended yesterday morning.

The first night the specialty restaurants were offered at half price, so we took advantage of that and dined at Murano. Excellent food, service and ambiance. Since we are in Aqua class, most of our meals will be in Blu. Breakfasts in Blu are my personal favorite, and dinner was very good, too, with great service. We always like to dine early, so at 6:00 we got seated immediately, but there seemed to be a little wait for a table around 7:00.

The show Rock City was very enjoyable and was standing room only for the 9:00 show. We saw Andrew Kennedy, the comedian, at 10:30. Very funny with an x rated show. Not for those easily offended, as he warned us about at the start.

Smooth sailing so far. Hard to tell the ship is moving. Today is our second sea day and then Aruba tomorrow!

By the way, as Elite plus, my husband and I each get 240 min, but I upgraded to the unlimited minutes plan for $194, and now I'm a happy camper.

  11. Just heard from an O rep that luggage was packed and shipped by a company called luggage free. I just called them and they said we will have ours by next Tuesday at the latest. Delivery will be from fedex or DHL.

  12. Anyone get their luggage yet? We are still waiting for it or for some factual update. We decided to stay in Miami until yesterday, when the cruise would have ended, and took our regularly scheduled flight home. O,s hotline hasn't had any worthwhile info.

  13. I was wondering if anyone had any pics of the decks of the 'side' rooms on Deck 11? There have been lots of pictures of the aft rooms but I am wondering if there is any covering on the side decks and if you can see them from Deck 12.

    Thanks

I was wondering, also, if the balcony on the "side" cabins on deck 11 (we're in 1118 on the Millie for next year) are covered. Any input is appreciated. If they're not, we might switch to an AQ on deck 9. Thanks.

  14. Hey, Caribe and Susan: My husband and I and our son and daughter-in-law are also on the Freedom's Sept. 21st sailing. The roll call seems very inactive. Wonder why?

Anyway, we're looking forward to this cruise in order to spend some time with our son and daugher-in-law who live in Texas (we're in PA). We've been on many cruises, but never on a ship so large--it will be an experience! We have adjoining balcony cabins on deck 7.

    Sandy
