How far is the cable car in amber cove from the cruise port?

Less than 10 miles.  Less than 15 minutes.
You pass it on the way to Puerto Plata.

    Cable car is called Teleferico.

Its $10 per adult and I think $5 per kid age 5-10 but not sure about that.

I limit the number of players to 20  . Usually there are not many people on the dice table but there can be . I make the bets & they roll until they toll craps or the 7  .  By managing the cash we usually come out wining . Same with the Slots .I only now play the $5 per pull clots  because the pay offs are better especially in the night time like 9 to 10 pm  .The Fin Slot Pills can have as many as you want but keep their names on a list of paper because what if there is a big jackpot . You know there are taxes on over a $1200 win on any slot & you so nor want others coming in after the fact

Great, we'll be under 20 so it should be good.  Thanks so much for the clarification on things.  I really appreciate you.  I'll let you know how it goes.

Yep, agree on $5 slots ($20 buy in).  Best way to do it in my opinion too.  Biggest slot pull I've done was about 75 people.  TOO big !!  I have a 50 person limit now.  Although that one has a super fun story ... everyone had voted to keep spinning so everyone had gotten at least 2 rounds of pull.  We got down to $500 and someone suggested we go put it all on red on roulette.  After getting special permission to place that bet, we spun and got Red !  The crowd went wild.  Then we placed a 2nd $500 bet on Red and won again !!!  We ended up basically breaking even, everyone won like a couple few dollars and got their buy in back.

Best to get a book on Craps & read it thoroughly so you understand the skills .also in Las Vegas I can stack 20  $5 chips behind my $5 line bet ,That is called  20 times odds .On cruise ships they only allow 2 chips  behind the line

Oh, I'm already a craps player.  And I've hosted slot pulls before.  : )
I was just wondering the logistics on the questions I asked above.

For example, you said each person gets a chance to roll the dice ... does each person only get to roll the dice literally one time (at least) ?  Or does each person roll thru a full come out roll to 7-out ?  Or ... some other rotation ?  If they're each doing a full set of rolls, then do you have to wait for the dice to come all the way back around the table before the next person in the group can roll ?

Sounds like you just bet how you would normally play while they do the rolling, right ?  So the $15 buy-in for each person can cover any variety of bets .... you're not necessarily betting $5 passline, plus odds, plus placing 6 and 8, 5 and 9, (and buying 4 and 10?) while each person is playing a full roll.  I was trying to figure out how you made $15 for each person to go so far.  haha !

Another two questions if you don't mind ... how many people do you think is the most to stay under and keep it manageable ?  And how long do you do your session with the Fun Craps Roll group ?

THANK YOU so much for taking the time and sharing your ideas with me.   :classic_biggrin:

Thanks so much for answering my questions, it sounds like a lot of fun, craps is more fun to me with more people cheering and having a ball.  Plus, I think more people would play if they learned how.  It's intimidating to a lot of people to look at the table and not understand.  I've read your descriptions of this, just trying to work out the logistics in my mind.  How do you generally place your bets with each person only putting in $15 (assume $5 table, 2x odds or 3-4-5) ?  I saw what things you bet (smart!).  Just trying to figure out how there's enough funds for each person to be able to roll and placing all those bets.  How long is each person allowed to roll ?  Does each person get to roll all the way through from new shooter/come out to 'the number which shall not be named' ?  Then do you have to wait for the dice to come all the way back around the table before someone in the group can roll again ?

  5. The Horizon TBA cabin was assigned.

It was a guarantee interior (and had RED tags) because that was all that was available when it was booked on 12/15.  It was just assigned, technically an "upgrade" to a Family Harbor interior, so not ideal.  Kids do not tend to be quiet in the morning.  Or any time really, haha.
Luggage tags are now PURPLE deck 2 AFT-P  (same color purple as above)

    @shof515 see above : )

In a few months Paradise, deck M is Purple

Do you know what deck # each of these are ?  Thank you also for the very helpful link in the what terminal for Horizon thread yesterday !

it seems for me, Brown and Purple is popular color tag for me. neither are my favorite color.hmm maybe they should be?

It's starting to look like the color is the deck designation.  There may not be any color difference if its Aft or Fwd, and Port or Starboard.  Although I do still need to gather lots more data points.  What deck # were they on each of your cruises ?

Yes, this is what I was thinking (hence my qualifiers about shade) before I came across some of my older tags - there are two different shades of red used on each sailing, bright red and dark red (maroon).

Yep, your post was the catalyst for me asking her to send screenshots.  I was just taking her at her word for "red".  : )

  9. We have an upcoming side x side.  I am trying to plan how we will go from Virgin terminal to Horizon terminal.  What terminal is Horizon currently docking at in Miami / does that stay the same from week to week, or is every week a different terminal based on ____ (whatever) ?

Any tips ?  Also, any parking tips ?

Thanks in advance for your help !!!

  10. Here's the RED color of my friend's TBA cabin upcoming cruise that I listed above.
I just got my other friend to send me her Horizon two deck 9's that I listed above.
Not the same color red at all as the TBA cabin.  More of a maroon or magenta.
Really glad I asked her to send it to me, haha.  Red is subjective.   : )
I used Snipping Tool on computer for these screenshots

(I still haven't been able to find any of my docs from 2018 -- all the other cruises I emailed myself a copy of the docs in case I needed to access them.  I'm sure I must have in 2018 as well???  Somewhere.  But 2018 have gone poof!  I can't figure it out, sooooo weird lol)

  12. What color are your luggage tags for embarkation ?  What Ship and what Deck were you/will you be on ?  Forward or Aft of ship center ?  Port or Starboard ?  (all of these items are on the luggage tags)

note: its totally ok to print tags in B&W !!
To find your luggage tags : https://www.carnival.com/booked/home > then Planner > Print documents

I bet you're curious why in the heck I'm asking this ?  It's because I read recently that the color of the tag indicates the general location of your cabin.  I've checked our upcoming cruise where we have 3 cabins and indeed the 2 cabins that are across the hall from each other are one color and the other cabin that is on a different deck is another color.  Now It's made me curious what each of the colors mean, so I'm gathering data points.  Please help me by posting your info !!

  13. Has anyone sailed since Dec 6 (when this thread was started) and can confirm they are still giving free bottle of wine on the first night ?  I know the steakhouse price went up recently, don't know if this changed too ?  Asking for my dad who will be on Carnival Magic at end of February.  He wants to purchase steakhouse as a gift for friends and wants to tell them about the free wine.

  14. Dining reservations open up 45 days in advance for Rockstars, 30 days for everyone else.  The app will open up and list restaurants about 8pm-ish (I think it was) the night before the bookings open up. Then around 11pm-ish you can start booking restaurants. So, if it says in the app that you can book restaurant reservations starting tomorrow, you would actually be able to book them tonight. Times quoted are EST (eastern standard time).

We're booked in a regular sea terrace.  There is not much difference in Regular vs XL.  Mainly its a bigger shower.  People have reported even the regular shower is larger than most other cruiselines they've been on.

Be sure to use a referral link when you make your booking so you get Sailor Loot !!

I am registered for Pizza and cupcake classes

Registered before you board ?  How ?

edit: Never mind, I did a search on this forum for "cupcake" and found out they should be listed under Specialty Dining.  And it sounds like they sometimes will pop up later for booking even if they're not in there when you first book your cruise.

On his Facebook page. You just post a question and (usually) he or one of his helpers will answer it.

Thanks Eli !  I used to know how to do that, but this is our first cruise since Covid and I couldn't figure it out anymore.  I thought there used to be a Community tab or either a way to Message him, but now it will appear as a Post right on his main page ?  Is that correct ?
