We were on the Epic in April and had a fabulous time! The food was good, service was great (almost perfect), and we would love to sail her again in the future. We found hardly any lines except the big bowl water slide. Also, surprisingly, we did not ever feel like it was crowded on the ship. I think if you board the ship expecting to have a great time, you will! :). Will there be some hiccups? Probably some, but if you don't sweat the small stuff, I can't imagine you not having a great time! We have only been on 3 cruises, but by far, Epic was our favorite ship. We didn't even have time to do hardly a tenth of the things to do on he hat ship, thus, the desire to sail her again,
Have fun and enjoy that very unique looking ship!
Oh- my husband is prone to seasickness, and he did not get seasick during the cruise. I didn't either, but I do not normally get seasick.

And as for kids where the hell are the parents, they should be looking after them.
My absolute FAVORITE thing I have read on this board ever! Why oh why do some parents go on vacation and leave the other guests to watch their kids?!!!! This happens at a land resort we go to a lot as well. It may just be one of my biggest pet leaves!

Bump.
I would love to,know this too!

Thanks so much for this fantabulous review! Before your review, I was convinced I did not want the bathroom setup on decks 11 and 14, because I was convinced I needed a window. After reading your review, I called my TA up and switched to 11908! :). I sure hope the Getaway mirrors the Breakaway exactly for those rooms!

We just got off the Epic today and I completely agree with uou in that the Haven experience on the Epic is just wonderful! We loved it so much we plan to cruise her again, but only in a suite. We too like quiet and so not like large crowds, so the Posh area and the Epic club really suited us. Can't wait to book the next cruise on the Epic!

The beds are just flat. The loungers adjust. The beds are not really practical unless all you want to do is lie down.
Thanks! Too bad it looks like only beds are near the glass rail(closest to the water).

Loving the pictures! Question regarding the beds at Posh. Can they recline up or are they flat only? I am just thinking if you have to be lying down all of the time on those, they would me super comfortable, especially for reading.

Thanks for posting your review and pictures! Looking forward to the rest!
I am really sorry about your dog, I can very much relate and know how hard that is. A couple of years ago, we had to put down 2 of our dogs in one year, it was a very difficult year. Know that you did the right thing and your baby is now smiling down from you in heaven. :)

We were in a deck 10 aft penthouse on the Star in 2011. The loungers on the balcony were the nice rattan ones with the cushions. I'll see if I can find any pictures for you!

It is awesome!! You should definitely do it if you can. I will post pictures at the end, but here are a few for you.]
Thanks!!! Can't wait to book this! :)

I am loving your review! We are thinking of booking the GV on the Dawn for this same itinerary in either 2014 or 2015. Do you have any pictures of the bedrooms and bathrooms?
Thanks in advance!

Awesome review! Did I miss something though? Did you ever post the pictures?

You're welcome, Michelle.
Keep in mind that the excursion we were on to Tracy Arm was pretty pricey. I'm thinking it was around $170 or so. You'll have to do the math to see how much you would save. If you do the Pearl you don't need the excursion.
Thanks Mike, and that is really good information as well! Part of me is thinking, book the Pearl, stay in a mini-suite instead of a full Aft Suite, and just save the money. The other *spoiled* part of me is thinking, it will be VERY difficult to go to a regular cabin after cruising in 2 suites, so not sure we can go down the mini-suite route! Decisions, decisions! :)

Thanks Mike for the awesome review! I was unsure as to the Pearl or Jewel for Alaska, and while many were steering us towards the Pearl due to the Glaciar bay day, I am not so sure anymore! The price is so much better for the Jewel, and from the looks of your pictures you see Glaciars on the Jewel cruise as well. We can save about $1000 total if we book an aft suite on the Jewel versus the Pearl, and that is a LOT of money in our world!
Thanks again!

Thanks Robin and European Cruisegirl for your responses on the breakfast delivery. :) I also appreciate the information about it not necessarily arriving on time, great information for planning! THANKS! :D

Wow - I hope we will not be considered greedy or excessive by asking our butler to bring us breakfast in our suite every day, as we sure do have that planned! That was one of the main selling points for me! Breakfast in bed (crab cakes eggs benedict), looking out at the sea with the warm ocean breeze....ahhhh.....

There is a small amount of room in the AD Suite, this is from the Pearl AD 10164, the loveseat is not a sleeper.

Hoosier Gal -Thanks for your help! We have decided to stick with the cabins we have!

Hoosier Gal- we have booked cabins very close to the one you were in (we booked 11512 & 11514). I have read on someone's review that there is a lot of motion at that location of the ship. Did you notice that? Do you have any pictures of your actual balcony?
We are also cosidering switching (if available) to an aft cabin. I keep thinking your view will be blocked from the back when viewing the lava flow or the Napoli coast. Can you see everything from these aft cabins? Am I crazy? We have never cruised before, so I really have no reference point at all!
Thanks,
Michelle

You can also ask for the Cagneys breakfast and lunch menu (or Epic club for a Epic) and the Haven restaurant for Breakaway and Getaway) and get any of those menu items as room service as well. The butler service in the suites is something we really enjoy and look forward to. Shout out to Leo on the Epic, our favorite butler so far. :)
