  1. We've spent a couple of Thanksgivings on X. Here is my take. We're traditional Thanksgiving food types. But the problem is that the food may or may not be prepared the way we are accustomed to. I suggest that you don't have your hopes up too high for wonderful tasting stuffing or gravy or even cranberry.

  2. Most likely you will get 2 perks with Celebrity, most choose drink package and $300 OBC plus you will keep your OBC from the booking on board (not the RCCL promo OBC) unless you are choosing a sailing that is less days and would have been a lower obc to begin with.

Like Bob said, you get what Celebrity is offering, just go their website and price the cruise out you are looking at, again probably with 2 perks. The obc you received for booking on board will stay.

Just to be clear, future booking perk for Celebrity is OBC only. The other perks they offer are included in the price, you are paying for them. It took me a while to figure this out!

  3. bigbenboys, I would love to see a 12 year old boy in Luminae by himself! Too cute!

Reminds me of a DCL cruise and they showed To Kill a Mockingbird. The boy sitting by himself in front of me was about 8. I asked him after the movie if he enjoyed it, to which he proudly answered; "Yes, I love the classics!"

  4. Just thought of another question. I see Celebrity allows the ability to pre-book specialty dining. Is there a time frame time (how many days out) those reservations are able to be made?

    Bob

We were contacted by concierge about 3 weeks before we cruised and they took care of all of the reservations for us. They also took our order of what we wanted our refrigerator stocked with and switched out the liquor for wine.

    Have a great cruise!

  5. An additional onboard credit the amount of which will depend on the category selected and the cruise booked. You will have 60 days from the date of the booking to transfer to the travel agent of your choice.

    :)

Bingo. I keep reading on other threads about the perks AND OBC that you get when booking on board.

    Not our experience. OBC only.

Do yourself a favor and research the price before you book on board. Celebrity's computers in the Internet Lab or your own device, allow a free access to the Celebrity website so you can check prices.

I think if more people did this they would realize that the 'free perks' that the future cruise desk is offering is not free.

  6. The closest cruise ship to the eclipse area I could find is the MSC Divina that departs Miami on August 19th heading to St Maarten for an August 22nd arrival. On the 21st, the day of the Eclipse, it will be at Sea and could be in very close if not in the Total Eclipse path. There doesn't appear to be a Roll Call for this cruise so no help there. You are right it would be strange not to have cruise ship in the path of the Eclipse.

I saw that cruise but if you look at the map of the route it takes, on 8/21 Divinia will only see a very small portion of the eclipse. And yeah, someone should have planned on this eclipse! What a sellout that would have been!

  7. This has been our experience (twice).

First time was for a C2, and the price included grats and drinks and an additional (?)$200 OBC (10 night if I remember correctly). The price seemed quite high to me so we didn't book it. What they had done was added the price for the go better without telling us, they made it look like the 2 perks were free. I know because as soon as I got home I checked the prices.

Then this past July we booked our Nov 12 night on Silhouette. We booked a Sky Suite and got the Go Best package, which at the time (and still is) was included with the cabin plus $300 OBC (in addition to the OBC with the package).

So my experience is no perks (not for free for me anyway) and some OBC.

  8. My wife and I are booked for our first Celebrity Cruise on the Equinox in December. We were originally scheduled for late seating (which I am not a fan of) and waitlisted for both early seating and Select Dining. Celebrity just changed us to Select Dining and I was able to make reservations for each night at 6:00 p.m.

    My questions:

    1) I've heard that even with reservations, there can still be waits up to 20 minutes. If true, should we show up early?

    2) I don't foresee this (being that I'm OCD about being on time), but what happens if we are late? Do we get moved to the "no reservations" line which could significantly extend our waiting time?

As you can probably tell, I'm not a big fan of waiting (much to my wife's chagrin).

    Any responses will be appreciated.

My response is a quote from Pirates of the Caribbean:

“The code is more what you’d call ‘guidelines’ than actual rules.”

Which is why we love Select Dining!

  9. I have stateroom 2108 on the even side. Yikes! [emoji51]

Sent from my iPhone using Forums

Oh the humanity ! You'll survive on that side, no matter what some may say! :D

One more perk is that you accumulate Captains Club points at a faster rate. It pushed us into Elite class faster than a regular cabin would have. This next cruise will be our first as Elite passengers. I'm looking forward to breakfast in the Tuscan Grill, the shower head and priority departure for excursions.

Extra points are why we did CC for several cruises. Now we are Elite and will be Elite+ in no time.

More points with suites, don't ya know. :D

Captain's Club points. They are like crack for cruisers.

  10. i am booked on Summit to Bermuda in August. We received free drink plan and $300 OBC.

Is the drink plan really free? Someone just told me on NCL you have to pay the 18 percent gratuity on the free drink plan

    Thx

We almost booked a NCL cruise with the 'free drinks'. But when I figured out how much this 'free' drinks plan was going to cost, we cancelled the cruise. My husband only drinks soda and the tax/grats on the 'free' drinks were more than what he drinks in soda. Useless. It was Epic, which we think is a butt-ugly ship so cancelling wasn't the end of the world for us.:D

No, you don't have to pay anything above unless what you order is over the limit. Many upgrade. Myself included. Husband, no.

  11. For what it's worth, I have experienced far better service booking a cabin near the suites and CC cabins do come with foot stools. What is bad service? That's a new thread to start.

Oh, I have also had excellent service on non suite floors - sometimes it's luck of the draw.

That has always been our experience, but from the post above, it isn't a perk that is official.

So will it always be provided? Hope so!

  12. Your room attendant works until around 1pm cleaning rooms. After that they have a 2nd job someplace on the ship until it's time to go back to doing the evening turn down service. They don't have the time or ability to bring you special treat in the afternoon. You can call room service or go get it yourself. There is no special ordering for an afternoon treat in a cc cabin. Those daily delectables are prearranged brought down from the kitchen en mass and are a waste of the cruiseline's money IMHO.

I agree. I wouldn't ask for a special plate in a regular cabin. Those people are so busy!

But if we are in a suite, I do ask for something special.

It's not a cc perk. Some of the ships/cabins have them. Not a cabin category promise.

I had no idea it wasn't an official perk! Oh boy.

About the CC pricing. I have yet to book a C2 cabin and not be able to get the price lower. I watch the cabin prices like a hawk and call when they go down. We get our favorite cabin and end up paying usually only about $100 more for it when the prices come down. I think we paid that extra $300 just once, but it was a 2 week Christmas/NYE cruise and so worth it. It was a cruise that was in demand so it makes sense that the cabin prices didn't go down (that much).

  13. I can see paying $500 for CC class would be too much, but we only paid $50 pp, or $100 for the room. Seems like for some might be worth as much as $200pp?

I agree, $500 extra for CC is a bit excessive. For us, I am so picky about the balcony view that the obstructed views are out of the question. We may end up paying up to three hundred more for the cabin (for 2) but it is worth it. We always try to book in advance and get a C2 for a C3 price (captain's club benefit), deck 12, angle balcony (even side, of course, kidding). We never hear any noise above, love the location, enjoy that footstool, give our sparkling wine to friends we meet who don't have the beverage package or keep it if we don't. We like the extra points. We don't bother with the canapes.

We've also done a sky suite on deck 12, no complaints about the noise above.

OP, I hope you enjoy your deck 12 CC cabin as much as we do!

  14. I really enjoy photo reviews, but I have one request for those taking pictures. I see so many on board photos where the photographer shoots pictures without any people. It seems many get up early to get photos of the restaurants/bars/pools/decks etc. while they are still empty. I may be odd man out here, but I like photos that show people too. I like to see how crowded the venues are, what people are wearing, etc. Not a complaint.... just a request for future photo-reviewers.

We call people in pictures "human clutter". We like the ones without it!:)

  15. As part of my marketing work, I used to both create and manage surveys.

They almost always have hidden agendas. The real purpose of the survey can be very deceptively hidden.

I suggest to never respond to a survey,

Watch that new TV show on jury management. It reveals many interesting questioning techniques.

I quoted you because I thought you needed to say it again!

I stopped responding to surveys about 3 years ago, I don't care who they are from.

I hope X is reading this thread. What they have done is just lame.

  16. One word. Paragraphs.

If a review is all in one paragraph (or several huge ones), I won't read it no matter how good it is.

Another thing that I really appreciate about a review is when the author posts the entire review in one post rather than dragging it on for weeks. I know that the 'live' reviews obviously cannot be done in one, those are understandable.

I also tend to throw the baby out with the bathwater if the entire review has absolutely nothing positive.
