  1. Has anyone been to GSC since New Years... Haven area open yet? Would be nice to know, if not could always ask concierge when we get on the ship. Our cruise is April 2.

I was just there yesterday (3/3) . . . and saw absolutely nothing marked as a reference to Haven.

  2. . . . I will say that wine options on NCL are rather disappointing. IMO they are trying to limit inventory to only widely distributed wines from Constellation and they don't really carry much in the way of really fine wines. You can bring all the wine you want onboard, but have to pay $15 a bottle corkage . . .

    Ain't that the truth!!

I was onboard Norwegian Epic this past week and, despite having the beverage package, I took 2 different bottles onboard that I new would pair perfectly with those planned meals. Even with the added corkage, it was a 'win' for me.

  3. Her and left are transporting people from the airport free of charge

Duh autocorrect! I meant Uber and Lyft are transporting people from FLL free of charge.

That was not my experience, but not a big deal at all considering everything else going on. Exhausting! I would also guess that most U/L drivers wouldn't have easy access to the lower loop due to all the law enforcement vehicles present for a long time.

  4. So far best bartenders were at Shakers. It's a bit slow at the Cavern.

In the evening, go by Maltings and visit either Sunil or Fernando (heck, why not both?!) for some great service and delicious beverages. You know how much I normally love Shakers, but for that recent week back on Epic, my Go-To spot definitely changed.

Continue having a fun time during your cruise week!!

  5. There were 2 NCL employees out on the pier and they were taking all kinds of pictures of themselves and both of the ships. They would run up and down, in different spots, and take pictures. I just knew they had to be "newbie" employees of one of the ships and they were so excited about it.

Kim, I didn't leave the ship at all while in Nassau, and enjoyed watching the Epic crew basically do the exact same thing. Some were almost giddy watching Escape arrive and 'park' next door. Lots of selfies being taken.

There were more passengers on Escape balconies than I ever remember seeing on any ship arriving into Nassau (as many are often already lining up to get off the ship). And a surprising number of cabin stewards sharing the balconies with them as they pulled in.

Seems it was the first time these two ships were in a port together, and not scheduled to do so again anytime soon. I considered myself fortunate to see that happen.

  6. Now Don, aka Mr. NCL, what are you doing on the Carnival board? Lol.

Easy answer . . . looking for any details Carnival might be offering to others regarding the pending Valor/Liberty changes. Their online message says info would be available by end of November (today), and when I called earlier I was informed they can not access any of the affected bookings because they're locked. That wouldn't normally be of concern since it's so far out, but it was pre-paid in full at booking, and has already had three different ship names on the same reservation due to charters cancelling original plans. There is also OBC from those cancellations, and I've pre-booked steakhouse and deliveries, so hoping that all of that will still be intact when the dust settles.

Carnival has sent me zilch, zip, nada regarding any changes. That was certainly surprising.

Lovin' my time on NCL fer sure, but still quite a ways to go to catch up to the number of past Carnival sailings and days at sea on CCL. It'll eventually happen, though. :)

  7. Why is everyone so negative?

Anyone want an umbrella drink with me while we wait? ;)

    Sincere thanks, but No. ;)

In my personal opinion, a quality adult beverage doesn't need a trinket to make it more enjoyable by drawing attention to it. In my personal opinion, a quality cruise line doesn't need a social media shepherd to tease passengers into advance discussions that pit one against another for an extended period of time. But, again, those are just my personal opinions.

My beverage of choice (mere inches away), while perusing this board for any current info on a future cruise I have booked, is deeeelicious. And by the third one, there'd be potential of poking my eye on the paper umbrella. :)

  8. I'll just go ahead and post the Posh pic here. I like the new color design to the deck. :)

And then this will be one of those 'Just Because' pic postings, as it was a unique experience for me.

There was a wonderful fellow passenger on the backstage tour with me, and early on she asked about the visuals of meat products during that time. She was warned about the butcher stations for beef and poultry, and I chose to stay in the hallway with her during both of those while her partner went on inside (I'd been in there several times, so wasn't missing anything).

Once in the main galley all was going quite splendidly until we rounded one corner, and BAM there it was . . . the start of a great pork offering later in the day. The look on her face was rather horrifying, and I feared there was going to be an issue, but she recovered nicely. I tried to joke and say they were fresh from a haircut at the groomer, and were taking a nap. That didn't help in any way at all.

  9. Don, I was going to ask if the menus at the specialty restaurants were the same as in the past or on the other ships. Oh, and did you take any news pics of Posh?

Didn't save/scan any of the menu items, as there was no dramatic changes I noticed, minus the already-expected removal of everything lobster.

I did grab a picture on my phone of the new color design of Posh. I'll try to send that to you directly. :)

  10. This one caught my eye and I really wondered if it was supposed to look like an animal or if Sakari somehow had some telepathy going on and was messing with me. Either way, I had to take a picture.

The picture and your super-superb caption made me holler loudly. :D

Enjoying the recap of your week, and doing comparisons in my head of my own experience. Many/most are the same, with the exception of my service in O'Sheehan's being routinely good, accurate, and timely. Breakfast and/or lunch in Taste were the total opposite. I chose to not let it become an issue that would be questioned to their leaders . . . I just left and went elsewhere (more than once).

Thanks, again, SO much for your efforts in posting this. :)

  11. We were taking the valor out of port canaveral next march. As everyone knows, they changed the ship to the liberty.

I realize that's simply a figure of speech but, No, not everyone knew.

I learned of it only last evening after visiting the Carnival boards here on CC for the first time in numerous months.

I had zero clue, and received zilch from CCL to advise of any adjustments. I spoke with someone today who confirmed that not all future passengers have been contacted. It's all good, though, as I know they'll work something out for a sailing that far away.

The verbal statements say I'll lose nothing in the swap, and I trust that to be accurate. It is a bit humorous that this could be the fourth ship name on the same reservation number, since two prior to Valor were cancelled due to charters. For my first return to CCL in several years, I've certainly made some unique selections. ;)

  12. I pulled right up. Popped the trunk. Gave the porter my room tagged luggage. Slipped him a fiver. Parked in the designated area. Hopped on board. Proceeded to cruise.....what could be simpler?

That would indicate you are onboard right now . . . and I hope you are having a fantastic time on this great ship. :)

That definitely didn't happen on the first sailing departing Nov 12. Not one person on Planet Earth had the experience you described on that first sailing. Not one.

I'm including this picture simply as an additional resource of information.

There was a disclaimer in every Freestyle Daily.

There was a sign on both ends of the Box Office oval.

There was a sign next the wall by Headliners.

There were two full-screen signs at the theatre entrance hallway. [This picture]

There were signs on each of the check-in podiums.

There were signs on the tech booth a few feet beyond the podium.

There were two verbal announcements (four, if you count both English & Spanish) in the theatre prior to show time.

I'm told that there are people in every single show who quickly exit and are quite vocal with their displeasure.

While finishing up one meal, a passenger at the neighboring table was complaining about the show content and that NCL should be ashamed of itself for not warning families of the theme.

    I know I shouldn't have, but I did.

"Sorry to interrupt, Ms. Keller, but I totally agree. Someone should have informed you."

That person had zero clue who I was . . . until now (is a CC member).

:( I apologize, but at the time I disagreed with the assessment.

    I should have stayed silent.
