  1. If you choose to engage in many of the activities the CD is running, then yeah, a good CD is worth their weight in gold. And even if you aren’t playing the Quest or going to the parties, the CD has their hand in so many other things. Heck I just liked hearing some of their updates and watching their goofy videos. A fun, committed CD is invaluable.
  2. Interesting but I never go by the recommended amount. Have had cruises where I tipped way more than that, one cruise where I tipped nothing. Each case it was based on the quality of service I received and that’s how tipping is supposed to work.
  3. This is the best post in this thread. Imho you are right in all counts. Pretty much same thing is happening with the Disney parks.
  4. Been tracking the reviews for Mariner and RC in general in prep for our Nov cruise. Pretty clear standards have slipped. Reviews, as usual, are helpful for planning and managing expectations. Right now my expectations are pretty low; we have a big cabin this trip so am intending to do lots of room service meals on the balcony. Which is nice, we like meals on our balcony.
  5. Not sure why this is a big deal. The tests are easy to do. If they only stop honest people, fine, I’ll take it. Been on ship where a gi bug ripped thru. Really sucked. Wish they tested for that. I don’t wanna get sick, I don’t want my kids getting sick, I don’t want anyone getting sick. Take the test and if you have it step out. There’s always other cruises.
  6. Bump and tag. Also looking at the 5 night with kids, ages 6 and 12. Any recent feedback appreciated. I know both our kids would appreciate having kids around to play with. Anyone have any guesses as to the kid population for the Nov 7 sailing?
  7. I just went with clothes I knew would be fine in their washing routine. Synthetics or pre-shrunk, nothing fancy. Most of my Columbia or North Face apparel fit the bill and came out fine.
