  1. They pay port fees so trust me....it's in your fare......
  2. I wasn't aware Viking did not reimburse port charges or provide some compensation for converting a port day into a sea day...I could see where Viking might see some cost benefits in missing a port (no port fees, slower sailing for next port, no cost for included excursion)....flight aware is a handy tool for looking at trends in air flight departures and arrivals....they even have a tab called the misery zone....not aware of any such tool that tracks similar info for cruise lines and ports....heading TA on Viking in December...plenty of sea days which we love....but we're also interested in touring the stops that were advertised for this cruise....Valencia has already been changed to Malaga because of a marathon race in Valencia (been to Malaga..not been to Valencia...sad face emoji)....now we're aware of our Cadiz stop coinciding with Constitution Day (national holiday)....hopefully they won't bypass Cadiz as well.....maybe we should start a thread where cruisers can post their itinerary changes and reasons given and compensation provided....for all cruise lines.......I have no idea how any cruise lines are managing itinerary changes or what their policies are regarding compensations for missed ports....
  3. I think 6 sea days in a row may be an opportune time for Viking (and other cruise lines) to reset the ship and attempt to rid it of Covid....be interesting if they impose testing or restrictions on our TA in December.....
  4. I see Viking Star is scheduled to arrive in Charlottetown tomorrow.. There have been no cruise ships in port since Fiona struck....probably the same story for Sydney....shame as the leaves are changing color....what's left of them.....supposed to be 4 ships in port today but no sign of any of them.....still around 18,000 homes and business' without power this morning.....recovery is slow going....
  5. We used some of our voucher money to upgrade our stateroom...:-)
  6. Power restored tonight after being out for nearly 9 days....very relieved....just enjoying a hot cup of tea.....(it's the little things)....
  7. Just back on-line and wanted to thank the posters on recounting your schedule changes, etc. We live in Charlottetown and, after 5 days without power, we ar now in Moncton at my sisters awaiting things to get back to normal somewhat on PEI...the storm was intense with our power going off 1:30AM Saturday morning....the streets around our place are like a. war zone....updated trees and power and phone lines everywhere....yesterday there were still about 2/3 of customers across the province without power....it was good to have a hot shower yesterday when we arrived in Moncton....glad your cruises stayed away from the storm as it was a monster!
  8. Viking Star left Sydney NS at 10AM this morning making a run for the Gaspe....port authority probably told them they couldn't stay tied up risking damage to the pier.....anyone on board her can give us a report?...The eye of Fiona probably gonna go pretty close to Sydney.....Yikes!
  9. That's a cool looking coin.....the $2,300 was in Canadian.....so just a little over 153 coins....so far we have upgraded from a DV4 to a PV2 and pre paid our gratuities....I think there is enough left over to do the post cruise extensions in San Juan....we already have the pre cruise booked and the SSDP....things are shaping up pretty good.....thanks to that promo code....and many thanks for posting it....:-)
  10. Just an update.....I called Viking and asked if they had an equivalent promotion for Canadians...after a pause, the rep came back with $2,300 pp voucher for excursions, gifts, etc.....looks like we'll deck ourselves out in viking branded jackets, hats, etc.....lol....thanks again.....:-)
  11. We are booked on this cruise and, doing an equivalent mock booking (without SSP), this represents a savings of $7K. Unfortunately the timing (1 day left) and having used a risk free gaurantee FCC to book it a few months ago, we won't have time to get our current booking cancelled and rebooked using this promo code. Thanks so much for this info....it certainly stresses the need to be prudent and look for deals like this when booking with Viking!
  12. Thanks....have been following the rollcall....we are booked but, based on past attempts, still not sure we will make it to the ship.....perhaps a little later once we feel more confident in our plans, we will definitely join the rollcall!....thks for the invite and (tentively) look forward to seeing you on the ship....
  13. Thks for your reply....the ship and stateroom # is in the title of this thread....it is the Viking Sea and stateroom 4038.....sorry for the confusion...
  14. We are booked into this stateroom for the December crossing this year. Has anyone stayed in 4038 recently and, if so, how did you find the condition of this stateroom? Thank you in advance....:-)
  15. It's nice to have that option....we would do the same....:-)......Thanks
  16. we are booked in a PV that says the mini fridge is replenished once a day (including alcohol)...can anyone provide a list of what alcohol is included and restocked in the mini fridge? TIA
