  1. Here is what we were told

The steak house only has so many staff, they can only serve so many tables.

while the steak house used to be fully staffed, may people did not choose to pay an up charge to dine there, so the cruise line reduced the staff. so most of those tables just sit there never used and they can only accommodate so many people and are thus technically fully booked.

This is true with any restaurant. Many times you will see empty tables but have to wait. Wouldn't want to be seated then not have someone waiting on you for long periods of time.

  2. Really? No alcohol? We have ginger beer and hard root beer here in San Diego and there is absolutely alcohol in them! Otherwise it would be gingerale which is soda.

It's actually a pretty common soda sold in most grocery stores - even where I live where alcohol is not allowed to be sold in grocery stores. It's been around for years. Only very recently have they started making alcoholic versions. It is NOT ginger ale. It has a far stronger ginger flavor. Just because you've never noticed it doesn't mean it doesn't exist.

  3. Lots of hotels have shuttles to port. Airport is 45 minutes away, so too far for hotel provided shuttle. You'll probably need to use a private shuttle. We're renting a car. Cheaper for all of us than a private shuttle and will give us more freedom to explore Cape Canaveral the night before. Picking up at the airport and returning it at the port the next morning. All rental car companies have free shuttles to the port.

  4. Except for pre-cruise and post cruise costs (hotel, rental car etc) we have had everything pre-paid for our August cruise for several months. Cruise fare, tips and Cheers. We do plan on bringing cash for extra tips, but the only charges we'll have onboard is our steakhouse meal and maybe a picture or two.

  5. It could be necessary in areas where the water supply isn't treated with fluoride. I remember when my kids were babies there were still areas in the US where it wasn't, but fluoride drops were recommended. Not nursery water. But that was 18 years ago. Even then, a week without it won't hurt.

  6. Not enough, and depending on the medical event, Carnival's may not be enough either. You can get far better coverage for less money buying a policy through insuremytrip dot com.

  7. Loved your review. So happy you let your daughter go with the flow as far as the pizza diet goes. I've seen so many judgmental comments here about that type of freedom. My baby is 18, but we always let them call the shots as far as eating on vacation. It's their vacation too after all. I'm sure she went back to her normal routine afterward. And I know it wasn't always a perfect trip with young ones, but it sounds like you took it in stride. Your report reminds me so much of our early family vacations. It gets easier and your kids will soon learn to think of family vacations as a very special tradition. One year my daughter spent the summer in Israel, my husband had a new job, so DS and I just took off to Hershey park for a few days. Both kids commented that they missed the family trip. This year it's us, DS 18, DD 21 and her boyfriend on the Magic departing 8/6. I hope they'll continue to want to vacation with us (and their kids) for many years to come.

  8. I don't think it's her who wrote it. It was too well written. I think it might be the daughter who has assumed all the posts under her name. If you go to the statistics page, there are differences in the cruise list and some information. Either way, it's weird and they think we've been fooled.:)

True. That last review was very well written compared to prior posts. Hadn't noticed that.

  9. Hi, yes, leave their names with the water activities booth and they can get a wristband when they arrive. I remember them asking me how many total were in my party. The cabana next to us had a staggered check-in also and it didn't seem to be a problem. You can also let your personal server know that additional guests will be arriving.

You'll have a great time, enjoy!

    Thanks so much!!!!

  10. We have five (under two separate cabins and booking numbers) that will be in the cabana. DD and I will most likely be the first to arrive and the cabana is booked under my name. What arrangements should I make for the others when they finally get up and make it off the ship to join us? Do I just leave their names with the water activities booth when I check in myself?

  11. Not understanding why you think you were too positive. Don't let the "other" review influence you. Most of us enjoy life without picking it apart and then brag about it and try to convince you that you are wrong.

    Your review was excellent.

    This!

I've been stalking Magic reviews and Carnival overall and the "other" review comes from someone who constantly contradicts themselves from thread to thread, never has anything good to say and manages to insult the rest of us in the process. I like your attitude. Much like ours when vacationing. Enjoy it! That's what it's there for.

  12. Thanks everyone for reading my review.............I guess it comes across a little too much positive or "cheerleaderish" but that best describes the cruise. I really cant find anything negative about it and was pleasantly surprised with Carnival. The small issue in the bathroom was immediately taken care of and that was ONLY small issue we had.

I loved Magic and cant wait to be on her again. Great ship, excellent crew, good food and great service. I cant ask for more on my cruises :)

It wasn't cheerleaderish at all! Some people enjoy life, and some choose to find fault with anything. Thanks so much for the review!

  13. We have two airports we can fly from. Each about 45 minutes away in opposite directions. We can fly JetBlue from one and Southwest from both. I usually jump on dates the day they're released by both airlines and keep my options open. This year we're doing Southwest going down from one airport and returning on JetBlue to the other. That was the cheapest way to do it.
